This study utilized a literature review strategy to examine prior literature pertaining to the frameworks concerning how to minimize users‘ pain and maximize their pleasure while interacting with the designs of interactive products. The findings of the study reveal that several such frameworks are in existence and are mainly in other domains different from usability and user experience. In these, the emphasis were mostly on satisfaction and dissatisfaction criteria which do not cover the broader perspectives of user experience that comprise hedonic, affective, aesthetics and other hedonomic facets. This prompts for the development of a framework that tailored to usability and user experience concerns to enable user experience designers design interactive products that will enhance users‘ experience. The proposed framework was adapted from previous related frameworks It is a three-factor framework that is composed of pain factors, linear factors and pleasure factors. The study proposes this framework to facilitate the design of interactive systems that improves the experience of users.

This paper attemptsto find out the available dimensions of user experience models in extant literature. The study observed that there are numeroususer experience models with a number of dimensions. This notwithstanding, there appears to be no concordamong practitioners and researchers on the dimensioning of UX models. The reason for lack of consensus is due tounderlying nature of user experience which signifies that UX should be structured and dimensioned differently dependent on the context and domain of use. Seemingly every experience is particularly unique and is situated in time and context, thus making the dimensioning of UX to vary and differ. A close look at prior literature indicate that several user experience models exist but their dimensions are however not comprehensive enough for a holistic design and evaluation of digital applications experiences. To this end, this study proposed a set of dimensions for interactive systems that will aid a more comprehensive and holistic design and evaluation of the user experience of interactive applications.

To solve the problem of the fuzzy and dynamics of requirement caused by users’ cognitive bias, a dynamic requirement and priority capture method based on user scenarios is proposed, aiming at effectively improving user experience. The method consists of the following steps: Firstly, users with similar characteristics are filtered to form a user cluster, then obtain the user’s product experience in different usage scenarios and acquire preliminary requirements by using service design methods. Secondly, the requirement path model tree will be designed and the requirement path matrix will be constructed through the evaluation of the user cluster. Then the pathfinder algorithm will be used to calculate the required correlation of user clusters and prioritize the requirements. Finally, the direction of the product design will be provided. Taking the design of the intelligent office chair as an example, the effectiveness of the method is verified by evaluating the satisfaction of user experience.

Consumable products have received less attention in the circular economy (CE), particularly in regard to the design of resource-efficient products. This literature review investigates the extent to which existing design guidelines for resource-efficient products are applicable to consumables. This analysis is divided into two parts. The first investigates the extent to which general product-design guidelines (i.e., applicable to both durables and consumables) are applicable to consumables. This analysis also scrutinizes the type of recommendations presented by the ecodesign and circular product design, to investigate the novel aspects of the CE in product design. The second analysis examines the type of design considerations the literature on product-type specific design guidelines recommends for specific consumables and whether such guidelines are transferable. The analysis of general guidelines showed that, although guidelines are intended to be general and applicable to many types of products, their applicability to consumable products is limited. Less than half of their recommendations can be applied to consumables. The analysis also identified several design considerations that are transferable between product-specific design guidelines. This paper shows the importance of the life-cycle perspective in product design, to maximize the opportunities to improve consumables.

This paper presents the findings of research exploring how designers could to evaluate and insert sustainability requirements in product design during the initial stages of the product development process. It describes the process of development of the method for sustainability consumable goods based from a literature review and explores its application in the development of packaging for cosmetic. The results show that the use of the method may be a promising solution for sustainable projects, providing the insertion of the reasoning for the inclusion of product development oriented to sustainability as a complement to traditional project requirements that existing in the models of product development.

Design reuse is the application of past designs knowledge and successful experience to current design process and it is a significant method for rapid design. A knowledge-reuse-based rapid product design model is proposed and a three-factor product design iterative process model is studied. Finally, it is applied successfully in the rapid product design of construction machinery combining with the requirement of the construct machinery product design.
