M. Natsir was one of the most prominent figures in religious discourse and movement in Indonesia. He was ada’wa reformer as well as a politician and a statesman. His most well known ideas were about the relationship between Islamand state, Islam and Pancasila, and his idea on da’wa. He stated that a country would be Islamic because of neither itsformal name as an Islamic state nor its Islamic state principles. The principles of the state could be generally formulated aslong as they referred to the Islamic values. Natsir also stated that the essence of Pancasila didn’t contradict with Islam; evensome parts of it went after the goals of Islam. However, it didn’t mean that Pancasila was identical with Islam. In relation toda’wa, he stated that it should be the responsibility of all Muslims, not only the responsibility of kiai or ulama. To make a da’wamovement successful, he suggested that it needed three integrated components; masjid, Islamic boarding school, andcampus.

One of the great traditions in Islamic education institutions in Indonesia is teaching by transmitting Islamic values as found in classical books written centuries ago. The majority in Indonesia, the classic book is better known as the Kitab Kuning. Teaching with the Kitab Kuning is usually done in Islamic Boarding Schools. Examining Kitab Kuning requires qualified Arabic language skills at least passively. Unfortunately, not all Islamic boarding schools that have a variety of superior programs in certain fields, are weak in the field of studying Kitab Kuning. One of them is the Islamic Boarding School Mu'allimin Muhammadiyyah Sawah Dangka which has the flagship Tahfizh Alquran program but is weak in the study of Kitab Kuning. One of the main factors is the lack of adequate quality of human resources. For this reason, this community service activity aims to provide training while introducing new, lightweight methods in learning Arabic, namely the Bihaqatil Jumal method. This method emphasizes learning Arabic using the right brain. After a series of community service activities, teachers and Islamic boarding schools felt helped and gained new experiences in learning Arabic methods to study Kitab Kuning. In addition, both the assisted object and the resource person requested that this kind of community service be continued.

the basic principles of Islamic boarding school education, namely; Al Muhafadhah ala al-qadim al shalih wa al akhdzu bi al jadid al ashlah. This principle has encouraged pesantren to maintain good old Islamic values without denying better changes. This paper intends to explore two sides of the coin for Pondok Persantren where one side is a distinct advantage for but can be a boomerang that hinders the progress of Islamic education based on understanding the basic elements and values of Islamic boarding schools and, then contributing thoughts in building a holistic Islamic boarding school education so that can follow the development of science without losing the obligation to maintain basic values. Holistic pesantren education can only be achieved if it is reaffirmed that the elements of the boarding school education system are not oriented towards learning religious knowledge but how kyai, teachers / ustaz and santri can learn to live in religion.

Drawing on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the article highlights various conceptions of violence at a Swedish boarding school and is based on a critical discourse analysis of different educational and media documents. The investigation indicates that ambitions to protect children from violence need to overcome the dichotomy of private and public in order to protect children affected by violence in the borderland between the private and public spheres.

Sejalan dengan globalisasi, wajah pesantren  di Indonesia sudah tidak lagi dimonopoli oleh kelompok tradisional atau fundamental-radikal, melainkan  sudah diwarnai oleh pesantren-pesantren baru yang di bentuk oleh kelompok Islam lainnya dengan wajah yang berbeda pula.</p><p>Kata kunci: radikalisme, moderatisme, liberalisme, pesantren, globalisasi</p><p> </p><p><em>RA</em><em>D</em><em>I</em><em>C</em><em>A</em><em>L</em><em>I</em><em>S</em><em>M</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>M</em><em>O</em><em>D</em><em>E</em><em>RA</em><em>T</em><em>I</em><em>S</em><em>M</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>A</em><em>N</em><em>D</em><em> </em><em>B</em><em>O</em><em>A</em><em>R</em><em>D</em><em>I</em><em>N</em><em>G</em><em> </em><em>L</em><em>I</em><em>B</em><em>E</em><em>RA</em><em>L</em><em>I</em><em>S</em><em>M </em><em>(</em><em>K</em><em>EE</em><em>P TRACK OF THOUGHT AND BOARDING SCHOOL RELIGIOUS MOVEMENT’S IN THE GLOBALIZATION ERA). The result of this study is the radicalism and liberalism of a boarding school is very dependent upon the leaders in its boarding school (owner, kyai, or senior students).  If the current leaders have radical character thought, then a boarding school with its students will think the radically, whereas if its leaders are moderate, so a boarding school and its students will have moderate characteristic, even they can be liberal in a certain situation and time.
