The study examines the relationship between job stress and turnover intentions with the moderating role of emotional intelligence. The questionnaire survey is conducted with a sample of 153 employees of the banking sector in Pakistan. Two methods are used in this study to test the moderation effect i.e. Baron and Kenny’s (1986) technique and the Process method of Andrew F. Hayes (2013). The results show that job stress and turnover intentions are positively related to each other whereas emotional intelligence has no moderating role between them. Based on the findings, it is proposed that organizations should focus on making active policies towards stress management so that employees’ turnover intentions can be reduced ensuring an encouraging working environment.

PurposeThis study investigates the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on organizational performance, especially competitive performance (CP) along with moderating role of the organizational culture (OC) from the banking sector of China. Drawing on the stakeholder theory, the first goal is to examine the relationships between CSR and organizational CP. Second, the purpose is to evaluate the moderation of OC between the relationship of CSR and CP, respectively.Design/methodology/approachSEM using SmartPLS was majorly engaged to ascertain the relationship and to inquire the assumed hypotheses. The convenience sampling was engaged to collect the data from the Chinese banking market with the help of students, colleagues and personal visits.FindingsThe findings exhibited that CSR both external and internal CSR has significant correlations on organizational CP within banking sector of China. Second, the findings revealed a positive moderation influence of OC between the relationships of CSR and organizational CP. The comprehensive analysis of each factor of CSR on organizational CP was autonomously inspected to understand the insights which ensure that how the incorporation of CSR and OC activities may improve organizational CP.Research limitations/implicationsThis study faces numerous limitations related to sample and geographic locations that assure new work possibilities for researchers across the world.Practical implicationsThis study equips insightful information for management on how organizations can obtain CP by consolidating CSR and OC activities as their more productive strategic tools. This article endows with potential theoretical and managerial implications with empirical addition to concerned literature of OC, CSR and organizational CP.Social implicationsUnderstanding OC and CSR activities can provide interesting and helpful insights for the personnel to perform well within the banking institutes.Originality/valueThe topic of CSR and culture has been known as the evolving concept that is getting strong concern for the researchers. The additional work particularly empirical is yet required to explore the insights on CSR and OC themes worldwide, especially in developing nations.

The purpose of this study is to appraise the linkage between service innovation (SI), customer value creation (CVC), and customer satisfaction (CS) with a specific focus on the Pakistani banking sector. In addition, the study evaluates the moderating role of brand equity (BE) fit between SI and CS. A survey is conducted on 250 customers from commercial banks in Pakistan and scales were acquired from past literature. The study showed that CVC mediates the relationship between SI and CS. Therefore, SI must create value for their customers in order to enhance CS. Moreover, BE has a partial positive moderation effect on the relationship bewteen SI and CS. By relating to the findings, managers of firms should focus on SI that adds to or create holistic value for their customers, which ultimately increase the CS level. This study relies on two theories, which include signaling theory and expectation disconfirmation theory to explain how SI in Pakistani banking sector creates customer value which achieves CS. The other uniqueness of the study is that it will be helpful for researchers by giving baseline regarding BE effect as a moderator between SI and CS in Pakistani banking industry.

Purpose - Job insecurity exerts a significant impact on turnover intentions among employees. The association may be partly due to the influence of organizational support and the ethicality of leaders. However, there is a shortage of studies on the ameliorating role of organizational support and ethical leadership in the nexus between job insecurity and turnover intentions. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the nexus between job insecurity and turnover intentions among banking sector employees. The moderating role of organizational support and ethical leadership on the underlying relationship was assessed to achieve this. Design/methodology/approach – One hundred and sixty (160) banking sector employees were conveniently selected to participate in the study. The sample consisted of female (n = 92) and male (n = 68) employees, ranging from 23 to 49 years. Standardized measures were used in soliciting respondents' demographic characteristics, perceived job insecurity, ethical leadership, organizational support, and turnover intentions. Data were analyzed using regression analysis. Findings – Results revealed a significant positive correlation between perceived job insecurity and turnover intentions. Organizational support and ethical leadership also moderated the association between job insecurity and turnover intentions. The influence of job insecurity on turnover intentions minimizes when management provides the needed support and favorable climatic conditions. Originality/value – In general, the study highlights the importance of organizational support and ethical leadership in lessening the impact of job insecurity on turnover intentions.

The moderation effect of organizational culture has also been examined. The quantitative approach has been used in data collection, and 182 sample responses have been gathered from the banking industry employees of Pakistan. The data has been analyzed by employing PLS-SEM. The results have shown that transformational and transactional leadership positively and insignificant affect workplace diversity. However, emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on workplace diversity. Besides, organizational culture has a positive and significant moderation effect between transactional leadership and workplace diversity. The organizational culture has a negative but insignificant moderation effect between transformational leadership and workplace diversity. The organizational culture has a negative but insignificant moderation effect between emotional intelligence and diversity. Managers are recommended to ensure transparency when identifying roles and expectations of the task amongst employees. Secondly, establish reward systems upon effective outcomes. Thirdly, state the punishments with utmost clarity.

Orientation: Workplace bullying has detrimental effects on employee well-being. Emotional intelligence may moderate the relationship between workplace bullying and flourishing.Research purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the nature of the relationship between workplace bullying and flourishing and to investigate the moderating role of emotional intelligence in the workplace bullying–flourishing relationship.Motivation for the study: There is a paucity of studies exploring the moderating role of personal resources such as emotional intelligence in the relationship between workplace bullying and flourishing.Research approach/design and method: The study used a cross-sectional design, quantitative approach and a convenience sampling method. Employees from a higher education institution (N = 1102) participated in this research. Descriptive, correlation and moderation analysis was used to analyse the data.Main findings: The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between workplace bullying and flourishing. Emotional intelligence significantly moderated the relationship between workplace bullying and flourishing.Practical/managerial implications: Organisations should develop and/or strengthen the level of emotional intelligence in employees in order to reduce the negative effect of workplace bullying on well-being.Contribution/value-add: The findings of this research contribute to the limited body of research investigating personal resources such as emotional intelligence as a moderator in the bullying-well-being relationship.

The available literature suggests that perceived organizational career management is seen as an antecedent of intention to leave and organizational identification is considered to be superior in predicting employees’ turnover intentions. Thus, this study aims at investigating the effect of perceived organizational career management on intention to leave and to determine the moderating role of organizational identification in this relation. The data was collected from 256 employees from the banking sector in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Hierarchical regression analysis was employed to the gathered data to test the hypotheses developed for the study. The results indicated that perceived organizational career management correlated negatively with intention to leave. It was also found out that organizational identification served as a moderator for the relationship between POCM and intention to leave. Thus, the results point out that the effect of employees’ perceived organizational career management on their intention to leave varies when they identify themselves with their organizations.

Demographic variables play a vital role in determining stress occurring from workplace demands. Role conflict is a major workplace demand, specifically in the context of construction. However, the way demographic variables influence the stress occurring from role conflict is less explored in the literature. Specifically, the literature does not fully explain the positioning of age and organization tenure on the relationship between role conflict and job stress. Hence, the present study evaluates the moderating role of age and organization tenure on the relationship between role conflict and job stress. A survey was conducted by distributing the questionnaire directly to randomly selected project-level employees of ten large private contractors in Sri Lanka. A total of 274 valid respondents were collected and used to run a factor analysis validated hierarchical regression analysis to assess the research hypotheses. The results showed that role conflict has a positive direct effect on job stress. The findings further revealed that the impact of role conflict on job stress is high for young employees in the construction industry, as young employees do not possess the necessary life skills or experience to cope with role conflict. Contrary to the authors’ expectations, there is no significant contribution from organization tenure to the relationship of role conflict and job stress. Since the young employees are more vulnerable to role conflict, special considerations should be given to improve the well-being of the young workforce. Hence, it is recommended that contractors should assign seasoned supervisors who can nurture the young employees and act as mentors. The supervisors should give clear instructions and inform what the young subordinates need to do when confronted with non-overlapping requests or orders from the other parties involved in the project. Besides, organizations must conduct periodic conflict management and resolution training programs to help the employees cope with the conflicts that occur in the workplace, which is the path to lessen the impact of role conflict as organization tenure accumulates.

<p>This research empirically analyzes the relationship between energy consumption and financial development by making use of secondary data for 22 emerging economies over the period of 1999-2012. Moreover, this paper also spotlights the moderating role of oil prices. Furthermore, financial development is measured by utilizing of various proxies relevant to banking sector and stock market as well. Hence, the findings of the research reveals that oil prices negatively moderates the relationship between energy consumption and financial development. Moreover, results highlight that measures used to calculate financial development are also of key concern to explore the relationship between energy consumption and financial development.</p>
