Abstract

The development of technology, especially information technology (internet), gradually unintentionally gives influence to education either directly or indirectly. The influence is clearly visible one of them to the method of learning. Learning methods that used to be done only face-to-face in the classroom and make the educator as a center of information (conventional) gradually begin to change towards learning that is also on-line based on the internet as an information center (E-Learning internet based). In STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat E-Learning internet based learning method itself has been introduced and implemented since 2014, but has not been maximally optimized. This is because the method does not have a standard in its implementation, and also conventional face-to-face learning method can not be abandoned completely, hence there is overlap between the two. Accordingly, this study developed a model of learning that combines the concept of conventional learning with the concept of E-Learning internet based called Blended Learning. Blended Learning model is expected to be a solution to the above problems, so that the learning process can be implemented effectively. This research is research and development research (R & D) with the outcome is a product that is learning model design.

In this chapter we present our work aimed at interweaving e-learning and face-to-face learning in Calculus courses for undergraduate engineering students. This type of blended learning (BL) contains the best properties of e-learning and face-to-face learning and helps overcome many obstacles in traditional teaching. We use our approach in order to improve students’ conceptual understanding of theorems. We describe online assignments specifically designed to help students better understand the meaning of a theorem. These assignments are given to students in addition to traditional lectures and tutorials with the objective that they can learn to learn on their own. Students “discover” the theorem and study it independently, by using a “bank” of examples and a lot of theoretical exercises we supply. The assignments are built in such a way that students receive feedback and instructions in response to their Web-based activity.

The teachers are required to be able to adapt and develop their learning model in post-new normal condition at this time, the model should make the students understand the material being taught easier. In addition, teachers must also be able to apply face-to-face (traditional) and non-face-to-face (online) models. Therefore, to solve the problem, there is an appropriate learning model, namely blended learning. This article aims to examine in-depth thinking about the implementation of this learning model with the literature review method. Indeed, the blended learning model is a learning process that utilizes various approaches (i.e., media and technology) both offline and online. moreover, it can improve students’ access in accessing learning materials, enhance their new experiences, improve the quality of learning, and reduce learning costs. As result, this article indicates that a theoretically blended learning model can be a learning model in post-new normal at the school and university, but further research is still needed to examine the effectiveness of blended learning implementation.

This study investigates the factors that influence the students’ performance in the first computer programming course taught using the blended learning approach. A blended learning model proposed by Hadjerrouit was adapted, which consists of conceptualization, construction, and dialogue phases. The objective of this study is to identify which phase in the adapted blended learning model has an influence on the performance of the students. A cross-sectional population study with simple random sampling was conducted at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Stepwise multiple linear regression revealed that only the construction phase of the blended learning model was significant towards students’ performance. Online learning has become a demand for education since the Covid-19 pandemic and continues in New Normal until it continues until post-pandemic even if teachers or lecturers have to develop learning strategies. Therefore teachers/lecturers are required to be literate in technology and always up to date on learning models, one of which is Blended Learning. This research itself is expected to explain what is meant by the Blended Learning Model. And, how is the application of the Blended Learning Model when applied to the new order after the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method in this article uses a literature review, where an action on the quality and new findings of scientific work. The development of a blended learning model is a combination of learning models carried out in an online and offline context. The allocation used is 50:50, meaning that from the time allocation provided, 50% for face-to-face learning activities and 50% for online learning. The same is the case with using a 75:25 composition and doing 25:75. Blended learning model development techniques that need to be developed; 1) Face-to-face Learning Model; 2) Learning Using Electronic Teaching Materials, and 3) Learning Using Technology Media.

The concept of blended learning, a combination of online and face-to-face learning, has become popular in educational settings. Using qualitative methods, this study investigates the role of blended learning and in-service teachers’ perceptions. Blended learning was used for 19 in-service teachers during their summer degree program at a Chinese university. After the course, teachers were asked to write their reflections on blended learning, its role in diverse classrooms, and using it in their teaching career. The results showed that the teachers appreciated the use of blended learning for diversity, but they were against adopting it in their teaching due to limited pedagogical skills and the exam-oriented education system in China. Moreover, some teachers believed that traditional teaching is more effective for providing students with the necessary knowledge, while blended learning was viewed as difficult to manage. The study provides a better understanding of teachers’ perception of blended learning which contributes to global educational development.
