A unified approach to transistor, F.E.T. and passive circuit analysis using the indefinite admittance matrix is presented in this paper. The indefinite admittance matrix with its easy adaptability for computer-aided analysis and design makes it a suitable basis for teaching active and passive networks.

This paper describes the use of a time-shared APL interactive facility in the teaching of electronic circuit analysis and design A set of APL functions are described which allow students to use a step-by-step procedure to solve network problems. These functions calculate the admittance matrix, determinants, cofactors, transfer impedances and gains. An a.c. response program which uses the above functions to calculate the overall frequency response is also presented.
