Abstract This report presents the flow and heat transfer characteristics of MHD micropolar fluid due to the stretching of a surface with second order velocity slip. The influence of nonlinear radiation and irregular heat source/sink are anticipated. Simultaneous solutions are presented for first and second-order velocity slips. The PDEs which govern the flow have been transformed as ODEs by the choice of suitable similarity transformations. The transformed nonlinear ODEs are converted into linear by shooting method then solved numerically by fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. Graphs are drowned to discern the effect of varied nondimensional parameters on the flow fields (velocity, microrotation, and temperature). Along with them the coefficients of Skin friction, couple stress, and local Nussel number are also anticipated and portrayed with the support of the table. The results unveil that the non-uniform heat source/sink and non-linear radiation parameters plays a key role in the heat transfer performance. Also, second-order slip velocity causes strengthen in the distribution of velocity but a reduction in the distribution of temperature is perceived.

Abstract The 3D flow of non-Newtonian nanoliquid flows past a bidirectional stretching sheet with heat transfer is investigated in the present study. It is assumed that viscosity of the liquid varies with temperature. Carreau non-Newtonain model, Tiwari and Das nanofluid model are used to formulate the problem. The impacts of Joule heating, nonlinear radiation and non-uniform (space and temperature dependent) heat source/sink are accounted. Al-Cu-CH3OH and Cu-CH3OH are considered as nanoliquids for the present study. The solution of the problem is attained by the application of shooting and R.K. numerical procedures. Graphical and tabular illustrations are incorporated with a view of understanding the influence of various physical parameters on the flow field. We eyed that using of Al-Cu alloy nanoparticles in the carrier liquid leads to superior heat transfer ability instead of using only Aluminum nanoparticles. Weissenberg number and viscosity parameter have inclination to exalt the thermal field.

A magnetic hydrodynamic (MHD) of an incompressible viscoelastic fluid over a stretching sheet with electric and magnetic dissipation and nonuniform heat source/sink has been studied. The buoyant effect and the electric numberE1couple with magnetic parameterMto represent the dominance of the electric and magnetic effects, and adding the specific item of nonuniform heat source/sink is presented in governing equations which are the main contribution of this study. The similarity transformation, the finite-difference method, Newton method, and Gauss elimination method have been used to analyze the present problem. The numerical solutions of the flow velocity distributions, temperature profiles, and the important wall unknown values off''(0)andθ'(0)have been carried out. The parameter Pr,E1, orEccan increase the heat transfer effects, but the parameterMorA*may decrease the heat transfer effects.

This paper presents an analysis for the unsteady mixed boundary-layer flow and radiation heat transfer of generalized Maxwell fluids toward an unsteady stretching permeable surface in presence of boundary slip and nonuniform heat source/sink. The governing partial differential equations are converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equations and analytical approximations of solutions are derived by homotopy analysis method (HAM). The effects of the unsteadiness parameter, nonuniform heat source/sink parameter, suction/injection parameter, thermal radiation parameter and slip parameter on the fluid flow, and heat transfer characteristics are shown graphically and analyzed.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of magnetic field on Williamson nanofluid embedded in a porous medium in the presence of non-uniform heat source/sink, chemical reaction and thermal radiation effects.Design/methodology/approachThe governing physical problem is presented using the traditional Navier–Stokes theory. Consequential system of equations is transformed into a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations by means of scaling group of transformation, which are solved using the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg method.FindingsThe working fluid is examined for several sundry parameters graphically and in a tabular form. It is noticed that with an increase in Eckert number, there is an increase in velocity and temperature along with a decrease in shear stress and heat transfer rate.Originality/valueA good agreement of the present results has been observed by comparing with the existing literature results.
