AbstractThe present manuscript aims at the synthesis of cesium based halide perovskite nanostructures and the effect of cobalt doping on the structural, optical, lumnisent, charge storage and photocatalytic properties. In a very first attempt, we report the solvothermal synthesis of Co doped CsPbCl3 nanostructures under subcritical conditions. The structural features were demonstrated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) Surface morphology determined cubic shape of the synthesized particles. Doping is an excellent way to modify the properties of host material in particular to the electronic structure or optical properties. Incorporation of Co2+ ions in the perovskite structure tunes the optical properties of the nanostructures making this perovskite a visible light active material (Eg = 1.6 eV). This modification in the optical behaviour is the result of size effect, the crystallite size of the doped nanostructures increases with cobalt doping concentration. Photolumniscance (PL) study indicated that CsPbCl3 exhibited Blue emission. Thermogravametric analysis (TGA) revealed that the nanostructures are quite stable at elavated temperatures. The electrochemical performance depicts the pseudocapacative nature of the synthesized nanostructures and can used for charge storage devices. The charge storage capability showed direct proportionality with cobalt ion concentration. And Finally the photocatalytic performance of synthesized material shows superior catalytic ability degrading 90% of methylene blue (MB) dye in 180 min under visible light conditions.

A facile, one-pot solvent-mediated hydrothermal process was adopted to prepare nickel sulfide nanoparticles decorated on reduced graphene oxide (NixSy/rGO) as electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The designed solvent (ethylene glycol and deionized water) played a decisive role in controlling both crystalline phase and morphology of NixSy/rGO composites, leading to pure [Formula: see text]-NiS nanoparticles uniformly distributed on rGO sheets under suitable volume ratio of ethylene glycol and deionized water (2:1). The optimized [Formula: see text]-NiS/rGO showed prominent HER catalytic performance with a rather small Tafel slope of 93[Formula: see text]mV/decade and prominent current density of 10[Formula: see text]mA/cm2 at the overpotential of 177[Formula: see text]mV in alkaline environments when compared to pristine [Formula: see text]-NiS and NiS2/rGO catalysts. The excellent catalytic performance and long-term durability even after 8000 cycles confirmed the potential of [Formula: see text]-NiS/rGO composites as efficient electrocatalysts for HER in the alkaline media.

Two different Bi-based semiconductor photocatalysts Bi2MoO6 and Bi2WO6 were synthesized by a simple one-pot hydrothermal reaction at 453 K for 10 h. The properties of the photocatalysts, including structures, morphology, light-absorption band and photoluminescence, etc were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectrum and fluorescence spectrum. Further, their photocatalytic properties were compared by the degradation of two different organic dyes: Rhodamine B and methylene blue. It is important to note that the Bi2WO6 nanoplate structure exhibited better photocatalytic activity than the Bi2MoO6 nanowires aggregates due to its high surface area, higher light absorption and lower recombination of electron-hole pairs.

Superhydrophobic ZnO micro/nanocrystals were fabricated on a large scale using a facile one-pot hydrothermal process successfully. The morphologies and chemical composition of as-synthesized ZnO were investigated by the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The morphology of ZnO products changed from uniform size microrods to flower-like micronanostructures, when the temperature changed from 120°C to 180°C. The morphology of ZnO was strongly affected by the pH. The wettability of the as-synthesized ZnO micro/nanocrystals was studied by measuring water contact angle (CA). The largest static CA for water is 167°, which is closely related to both the ZnO micro/nanostructure and chemical modification. Furthermore, the as-prepared ZnO surface showed superhydrophobicity for some corrosive liquids such as basic and acidic aqueous solutions. The CAs of the surface modified with ZnO prepared at 160°C were over 155° in the range of pH = 1–13.

Abstract Core/shell heterostructure composite has great potential applications in photocatalytic field because the introduction of core can remarkably improve charge transport and enhance the electron-hole separation. Herein, hierarchical Bi2S3/In2S3 core/shell structured microspheres were prepared via a simple one-pot hydrothermal process based on different growth rate of the two kinds of sulphides. The results showed that, the as-prepared hierarchical Bi2S3/In2S3 core/shell heterostructure exhibits significant visible light photocatalytic activity for degradation of 2, 4-dichlorophenol. The introduction of Bi2S3 core can not only improve charge transport and enhance the electron-hole separation, but also broaden the visible light response. The hierarchical porous folwer-like shell of In2S3 could increase the specific surface area and remarkably enhanced the chemical stability of Bi2S3 against oxidation.
