To benefit from users’ co-creation knowledge in online communities, enterprises need effective methods to discover and manage co-creation users and knowledge as suggested in existing research. However, the existing methods still have their own limitations when analysing different relationships and networks. Therefore, first, this paper proposes a co-creation cyberspace super-network model for product innovation from a “user-knowledge-product” perspective to integrate the co-creation information of users, knowledge, and products. Second, to increase the accuracy of discovering, managing, and using the co-creation knowledge, three subnetworks including co-creation user network, co-creation knowledge network, and co-creation product network as well as the relationships among them are constructed and improved. Third, a well-known co-creation community in China is selected as a case to verify the feasibility and validity of the proposed model for enterprise’s product innovation. Three subnetworks and the mapping relationships among them are constructed and visualized based on the introduced User-Knowledge-Product Cyberspace model. The results from the case study validate the co-creation cyberspace constructed in this paper and provide enterprises with a comprehensive and detailed integration framework analysis model. Hence, the enterprises can use this model for user discovery, product innovation knowledge mining, and dynamic innovation knowledge basement and forecast hotspot trend in co-creation communities.

The current research has been done with the aim of knowledge network interpretive structural modeling in car industry’s R&D centers. The key factors for implementing a knowledge network in car industry’s R&D centers have been determined and then the final graphical model has been drawn by Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) approach. The method of the current applied research includes a survey of experts and then the variables extracted through investigating research background, after that the MATLAB R2013 software is used for making compatible matrix as well as drawing graphical relations of the model by Interpretive Structural Modeling approach. After studying related works & interviewing with under-studied firms’ managers, interpretive structural modeling (ISM) & MICMAC analysis was used to generate a model for knowledge network. Previous studies had not investigated the knowledge network in car industry’s R&D centers; however, the present study implemented the knowledge network model in R&D Centers.

Reasonable application of design knowledge can help improve the efficiency and quality of product design. Based on complex network theory, this study proposes a double push strategy of knowledge for product design. The proposal introduces the concept of attribute similarity and triangular fuzzy number and uses the theory and method of complex network to build the knowledge network model for product design that contains creative knowledge subnetwork and engineering knowledge subnetwork. This paper is to understand the structure and dynamics of the knowledge network model and to identify and predict knowledge nodes and knowledge groups strongly related to design intent in view of the scale-free network topology analysis theory. We develop a double push strategy of product design knowledge to implement the effective auxiliary function for product design process. Finally, a design case of antalgic pump is presented to demonstrate the practicability and validity of the strategy.

In order to study the interaction between structure change of social network and knowledge propagation, this paper proposes a complex agent network model to discover the inner rule and restraining factors of the knowledge diffusion in the network system. The agents take advantage of different social radius to form acquaintance networks based on the theory of social circles in the knowledge propagation network model, and the dynamic evolution process of knowledge network is realized according the defined rules of knowledge communication. Simulation results show that this model based on social circle theory can better realize the characteristics of the actual social network than the traditional network model established before, at the same time the social radius of knowledge agent for knowledge dissemination in knowledge network has the obvious effect. It can narrow the knowledge gap for the knowledge agents in social network and good social relation network can be developed.

PurposeThe vulnerability of multinational corporation (MNC) knowledge network is one of the major causes for the failure and even the death of MNCs in the fierce global market competition. Employee turnover and knowledge loss are the triggers for the MNC knowledge network vulnerability and a matter of serious concern in the evolution and development of MNC knowledge network. The purpose of this work is to propose a valid and quantitative measurement method to investigate the influence of employee loss and knowledge loss on the vulnerability of MNC knowledge network.Design/methodology/approachMNC knowledge network is inherently a heterogeneous network where there are mainly two types of units: employees and their knowledge. Therefore, this paper establishes a weighted super-network model for MNC knowledge network to depict its heterogeneous composition. On the basis of the weighted MNC knowledge super-network, the static and dynamic vulnerability measurement methods are further proposed to investigate and evaluate MNC knowledge network vulnerability.FindingsA real case is given to illustrate the applicability of the proposed weighted MNC knowledge super-network model and the network vulnerability measurement methods. The results show the super-network model proposed in this paper can effectively embody the complex features of MNC knowledge network, and the vulnerability measurement methods can effectively investigate the influence of employee loss and knowledge loss on network vulnerability.Originality/valueFrom the perspective of super-network, researchers and practitioners can get a more systematic and deeper understanding of the MNC knowledge network and its human and knowledge resource constitute which are vital for the evolution and development of MNC. Moreover, the MNC knowledge network vulnerability measurement methods can effectively measure and analyze the influence of resource loss on network vulnerability, which can provide a helpful decision support for monitoring and managing of MNC knowledge network vulnerability to reduce its adverse effects.
