This study investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on MSMEs and how Government intervention affects their capacity to survive. Through a survey of 368 respondents, namely debtors/beneficiaries, aid distributors, policymakers, and supervisors, this case study finds that the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in business delays. The finding means that the government assistance schemes are the key to business continuity for MSMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the help from the Government, the business actors in the sample of this study can maintain their business. Although some MSMEs reduced the number of workers employed, some MSMEs still survived, even increased their workers and business turnover. While the research identifies key success factors of Government programs, there are also some challenges in their implementation. This study recommends that the Government continues giving assistance programs for MSMEs. In addition, the Government should relax requirements while focusing on new beneficiaries. Building an integrated MSME database is also necessary, and in the future, the Government must integrate the assistance program with financial literacy and innovation programs. The policy implication of this research is that the future programs of government poverty alleviation need to focus on MSMEs.

Demand for air transportation has boomed extensively in Southeast (SE) Asia during the past decade as a result of economic development and the lack of land routes between destinations. The purpose of this study is to focus on the cost-leadership competitive strategy applied by low-cost carriers (LCCs) in SE Asia airlines and explore the elements that affect the competing capability of these airlines in the region. Furthermore, the study attempts to illustrate the key success factors that have resulted in the superiority of AirAsia (AA) airline among other LCCs airlines in the competitive market of SE Asia. The research shows that the regulatory environment in the regions air transportation business is an important barrier for the development of local LCCs airlines. Hence, AA attempts to cope with these barriers have been illustrated in this research.

This second article on the car for the future investigates the various possible scenarios for a successful innovative solution. An analytical model for innovation is proposed. This new analysis grid makes it possible to evaluate the potential for the emergence of new products, new services, new processes or new organizations, assuming that four conditions must be satisfied simultaneously (same time, same place): "Scientifically and technically possible"; "Industrially feasible"; "Commercially salable"; and "Politically, socially and culturally acceptable". The six key success factors are the followings: Autonomy or driving range; Technological simplicity; Total cost, i.e. purchasing cost and the cost of use; Availability and security of supply, in time and space, of primary energy; Security and reliability; Time scale of deployment of innovations. The specific conditions of the automotive industry are analyzed and discussed in details as well as general economic and political issues impacting positively or negatively the deployment of new innovative automobiles.
