Aplopabaksis filum (Goeze, 1782), A. clerci Yamaguti, 1935, and A. brachyphallos (Krabbe, 1869) are closely related species that are distinguishable mainly on anatomical characters, their scolex structures being remarkably uniform both in size and form. This opportunity is taken of defining the main diagnostic characters of the three species from an investigation of material collected in the Aberystwyth area of Wales.

A new species, Muscari fatmacereniae Eker sp. nov. (Asparagaceae), is described from Turkey. The diagnostic characters, description, detailed illustration, original photographs and geographical distribution of the new species are given. The conservation assessment, observations and taxonomic comments on the new species are also presented. The new species is compared with the closely related species M. armeniacum and M. botryoides.

x Dicranomyia (Dicranomyia) luteipennis Goetghebuer in Goetghebuer & Tonnoir, 1920 is revised and its diagnostic characters are elucidated. Descriptions are provided of three closely related species, viz. D. (D.) fuscinota sp. n. (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Slovakia, Switzerland), D. (D.) magninota sp. n. (Spain) and D. (D.) pallidinota sp. n. (Bulgaria, Greece, France (Corsica), Lebanon, Syria). D. (D.) lorettae Geiger, 1985 and D. (D.) mattheyi Geiger, 1985 are redescribed. All important characters of the male terminalia and the wing pattern are illustrated. Distribution of the species is checked and some new country records are presented.

The female of Elachista leifi Kaila & Kerppola is described based on two females collected in northern Finland. In addition to the larger size; the almost black ground colour, the small light area at fringe at the tip of the forewing and the bluish lustre on the underside of the thorax are the best diagnostic characters. The female genitalia of the species can be separated from those of other closely related species, except E. kilmunella, by the shape of antrum, the teeth of ductus bursae and the size and shape of signum. We did not find any reliable differences in female genitalia between E. kilmunella and E. leifi, due to variation in the characteristics of E. kilmunella.

Seventy-three species of Lepidoptera described from France since 2000, particularly by Jacques Nel and Thierry Varenne, are re-assessed from largely unpublished molecular data. We tried to obtain DNA barcode sequences from 62 holotypes, supplemented by paratypes of eight species and on one case by non-type material, whereas one previously synonymized species was not sequenced. Altogether we obtained 78 DNA barcode sequences for 65 nominal taxa while sequencing failed for six holotypes. An integrative analysis from molecular data and morphology supports the validity of the majority of species but also resulted in the re-assessment of several taxa. In this paper, we describe three new Eukoenenia species from specimens collected in limestone caves in the northern region of the Minas Gerais state, Brazil. These species present different degrees of adaptation to the subterranean habitat, with Eukoenenia magna sp. nov., with 6 blades on lateral organs and body ratios very close to other troglobitic species, being the most troglomorphic among them. This species is morphologically very similar to the Brazilian troglobites E. navi, E. eywa and E. neytiri. Eukoenenia lundi sp. nov. and Eukoenenia jequitai sp. nov. are probably closely related species due to their substantial morphological resemblance. These two species are closer to E. virgemdalapa among the Brazilian species described to date. We provide a table summarizing the main diagnostic characters of the three species herein described and those of the Brazilian congeners to facilitate morphological comparisons.

The categories of calls previously described for the closely related species Pithecopus azureus and P. hypochondrialis are reassessed. In addition, the advertisement and aggressive calls of P. azureus from Brazil-Paraguay border in southwestern state of Mato Grosso do Sul in western Brazil are redescribed. Intraspecific comparisons of call traits are made for populations of P. azureus from Argentina and Bolivia, and the vocalization of P. azureus is also compared with that of the closely related species of the P. hypochondrialis Group (subclade of lowland species). Given the similarities among the advertisement calls of P. azureus, P. hypochondrialis, and P. nordestinus, it seems that acoustic traits, at least solely, should not be employed as reliable diagnostic characters among these species

Zingiber salarkhanii Rahman et Yusuf, belonging to the family Zingiberaceae, is described and illustrated from Bangladesh as a new species. It was collected from six different localities of hilly forests in Chittagong, Khagrachari and Moulvi Bazar districts. After extensive sampling and investigations of the genus Clematis from various locations in Iran, Clematis iranica is introduced as a new species. The diagnosis, description and illustration of the new species are presented here. The affinities and differences to the most closely related species (C. orientalis) are presented based on morphological, cytological, palynological and anatomical characters.

Acmaeodera (Ptychomus) kubani sp. n. from Algeria, Libya and Egypt together with A. (P.) kubani saudita subsp. n. from Saudi Arabia are described, illustrated and compared with closely related species. Species-groups A. (P.) arabica Gory, 1840, A. (P.) polita (Klug, 1829) (with A. polita and A. foudrasii Solier, 1833 subgroups) and A. (P.) argodi Kerremans, 1907 are established within subgenus Ptychomus Marseul, 1866; diagnostic characters and composition of these groups are discussed.

AbstractThree shrubby, succulent, spiny Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae) species from western Saudi Arabia are described and illustrated as new: Euphorbia madinahensis Fayed & D.Al-Zahrani, Euphorbia saudiarabica Fayed & D.Al-Zahrani and Euphorbia taifensis Fayed & D.Al-Zahrani. Diagnostic characters, descriptions and taxonomic comments on each are given, and they are compared with closely related species. The geographical distribution of the three new species is shown.
