A field study was carried out to collect fish from the lake and streams/rivers around the peatland from December 2020 to February 2021. Fishing gears such as gillnet, snakehead pole and line, lift net, trap net ("sawaran", "julu"), and fish pot ("tokong", "pangilar", "bubu" or "lukah" and "tempirai") were operated. Sampling sites, water velocities, and water depth were measured using GPS Garmin 60 CSX, current meter hydrologic velocity meter, and fishfinder Portable, respectively. Generally, water velocities of streams measured were much more rapid than the lakes ranging between 0.33 m/s (at water depth: 4.20 m) and 0,69 m/s (at water depth: 6.80 m); and "not detected" (at water depth: 2.40 m) and 0.34 m/s (at water depth: 1.20 m) respectively. Of 7,377 fish samples, there were 50 species discovered belonging to 19 families. Cyprinidae was the most populated in individuals and species as well (1,022 Ind.; 21 taxa). It was followed by Bagridae (63 Ind.; five taxa), Channidae (53 Ind.; three taxa), Clariidae (10 Ind.; three taxa), Siluridae (403 Ind.; three taxa), while other families had just one taxon. Diversity was observed higher in streams (35 species) than lakes (30 species). Local fishers are still performing unselective fishing for feeding fish cage culture.

The use of rumpon has been associated with the catching of immature fishes in large number that would disrupt the sustainability of fish resources.  The aims of this study were to measure fishing productivity of purse seine and handline fleets operated around FADs deployed in eastern Indian Ocean waters and analyze the size distribution and gonad maturity index of the catch. This study was conducted at Tamperan Fishing Port of the Pacitan Regency, East Java Province. Daily fish landing data from both fishing fleets were collected from the Tamperan auction hall from January to December 2014 for productivity calculation. About 289 fish samples from 6 dominant species was taken randomly on-board of 3 purse seine and 2 handlines vessels from 8 different FADs for size distribution and gonad analysis. The average productivity of purse seine fleets in 2014were 6,7 tonnes/trip (s = 5 tonnes/trip) while handling fleets average productivity were 0,9 tons/trip (s = 0,6 tons/trip. Purse seine catch were dominated by immature and juvenile fish while handlines catch were larger and already mature fishes.</em><em></em></p><p class="TubuhTulisanAll"><strong><em>Keywords:</em></strong><strong><em> </em></strong><em>FADs, fishing productivity, gonad analysis</em><em></em></p><p align="center"><strong>ABSTRAK</strong></p><p class="Abstrakisi">Rumpon atau <em>Fish Aggregating Devices</em> (<em>FADs</em>) telah digunakan oleh nelayan pukat cincin dan pancing ulur di Kabupaten Pacitan sejak tahun 2005. A first survey  on a community marine species in  river of Mahakam East Kalimantan was performed in December 2015 and May 2016. Fish samplings were carried out from two locations the lower and the middle part of Mahakam. Whilst hydrometric observation of current velocity, water depth and tide was measured not only at the locations but also along the river from 2013 to 2017, tide was only observed in the lower part of Mahakam.  However, marine fish species were recognized to reach up the middle part of Mahakam, 230 km from coastline.  To describe a community fish structure and its dissimilarity of the two surveyed locations, diversity and bray Curtis index were applied.  Almost 15 marine fish species identified in river of Mahakam was demersal fish and index of the similarity of marine fish community between the locations only 0.106.

The exploitation of Sepat siam (Trichopodus pectoralis, Regan 1910) that include native species of floodplain has been done on many years. One of the main fishing areas of this commodity is Patratani floodplain, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. This commodity has been exploited over a long period and is expected to have a high pressure of fishing. The aim of this paper is to compare the utilization of sepat siam resources based on growth, mortality, and exploitation parameters between 2010 and 2017. Fish samples were collected monthly started from March to December in 2010, and April to December in 2017. The sample got from local fishers who fished around Patratani flood-plain waters. Sepat siam samples were measured on length (cm) and weight (gram) every month. The analysis has concluded based on the condition factor in both years. The growth parameters were analyzed by FiSATII software. The result of FiSAT II analysis drawn the growth factor was 0.86 in 2010, and have been growing slow to be 0.55 in 2017. The length infinitive in 2010 was around 21.5 cm and decreased to 18.3 in 2017. The other results showed that the exploitation level decreased from 0.61 in 2010 to 0.53 in 2017. The exploitation rate proved that the utilization of sepat siam was decreased but sill on overfishing conditions. The length size of sepat siam related to the optimum mesh size fishing gears was decreasing in 2017 compared to 2010. The age analysis shows for 21.5 cm of the infinitive length is achieved for 7 months in 2010, while 18.3 cm of that is reached for 10,5 months in 2017.Keywords:Exploitation levelFloodplainSepat siamABSTRAKKegiatan penangkapan Sepat siam (Trichopodus pectoralis, Regan 1910) yang merupakan spesies asli ikan rawa banjiran sudah dilakukan bertahun-tahun. Diversity, potentiality and conservation status of fish fauna in upper Mahakam’s tributaries of east Kalimantan is unknown. The purposes of this study were to analysis species diversity, determine potentiality and conservation status of fish fauna in upper Mahakam’s tributaries, east Kalimantan. Fish sampling with purposive method was conducted in four tributaries, i.e Tepai River, Pahangai River, Danum Parai River, and Meraseh River for one month. Fishes were collected by several gears type. The results of this research showed that the total number of fish caught was 820 individuals; consist of 26 species, 7 families, and 4 orders. The Cyprinidae was the most dominant family found in all tributaries. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index in four tributaries were varied and ranging from 1.749-2.087. The highest fish diversity was recorded at Maraseh River followed by Pahangai River, Danum Parai River, and Tepai River. The low fish diversity was discovered at Tepai River may be due to differences in substrate type, water velocity, and water depth as compared to the Maraseh River, Pahangai River, Danum Parai River. The fish species similarity coefficient between four tributaries ranged from 0.606-0.842 and the highest dissimilarity was found between Tepai River and Danum Parai River. Almost all fishes categorized as edible fish for local consumption. Syncrossus hymenophysa and Gastromyzon lepidogaster have potential as ornamental fish. Regarding IUCN red list status, six fish species were grouped into least concern status, two species as data deficient, one species as near threatened, one species as endangered species and 16 other species were not on the list.
