Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR-associated protein (Cas) system facilitates targeted genome editing in organisms. Despite high demand of this system, finding a reliable tool for the determination of specific target sites in large genomic data remained challenging. Here, we report SSFinder, a python script to perform high throughput detection of specific target sites in large nucleotide datasets. The SSFinder is a user-friendly tool, compatible with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems, and freely available online.

The use of ammunition primed with depleted uranium is one of the hallmarks of modern combat operations, resulting in environmental contamination by particles of depleted uranium and uranium oxide, scattered around in the form of submicron-scale aerosols. This paper examined the protective effectiveness of the Serbian military's M3 protective face mask in relation to the presence of airborne depleted uranium and its by-products. Sodium chloride in solid aerosol form was used as a test substance and adequate physical simulator of such radioactive aerosols because its granulometric (particle) size distribution met the requirements of suitability as a simulator. Determination of aerosol concentration was carried out by flame photometry method, whilst granulometric distribution was determined by an electric particles analyzer. It was established that the total internal leakage of the M3 protective mask was as much a function of the penetration of particles through the combined M3 filter as of the leaks along the fitting line of the user's face mask and the inhalation valve. In terms of its protective effect against aerosols of depleted uranium and associated oxides, the Serbian M3 protective mask was determined to be of high efficiency and physiological suitability.

The paper presents the pilot Microgrid in Macedonia, developed within the framework of the MOREMICROGRIDS (EU EP6 projecet, contract No. SES6-019864) project. This Microgrid is the first of its kind being developed in the Western Balkan region and serves as pilot site for introduction and examination of the Microgrids concept in non European Union conditions. The test network consists of a part of the low voltage grid, located on a pig farm. The main electricity source for the Microgrid is a small biogas plant, which uses the biogas produced by a waste water treatment process. The paper addresses the Microgrid design, development of test scenarios and test results from the pilot location.

Panel regression model may seem like an appealing solution in conditions of limited time series. This is often used as a shortcut to achieve deeper data set by setting several individual cases on the same time dimension, where cross units visually but not really multiply a time frame. Macroeconometrics of the Western Balkan region assumes short time series issue. Additionally, the structural brakes are numerous. Panel regression may seem like a solution, but there are some limitations that should be considered.

In this paper, we present a description of the previously unknown larva of Agapetus episkopi Malicky 1972 (Trichoptera: Glossosomatidae). Information on the morphology of the larvae is given and the most important diagnostic features are photographed. As a species of subfamily Agapetinae Martynov 1913, A. episkopi larvae belong to the group of species with sclerites present on the pro-, meso-, and metanota. Because lateral setae on abdominal segment III are lacking and the larval case lacks a sand collar at its base, A. episkopi keys with Agapetus laniger Pictet 1834 and Agapetus delicatulus McLachlan 1884. Within this trio, each of the latter two species can be easily separated from A. episkopi by the coloration pattern of their frontoclypeus, where a pale central area is present, and by the presence of only one lateral seta on each side of abdominal segment I. With respect to distribution, A. episkopi has been recorded from European Ecoregion 6 (= Hellenic western Balkan region) and Asia Minor. In addition, ecological characteristics are briefly discussed, and a key to the known glossosomatid larvae of European Ecoregion 6 is included.

This article is dedicated to the German policy towards the EU enlargement. Its history as well as the current German policy towards prospective enlargements are analyzed in this paper. The article offers party-political and sociological analysis of Germany`s attitude towards the EU enlargement, also the reasons for it are determined. FRG supported all of the European Community and European Union enlargements. This line is being continued, but nowadays only step to step approach is being supported. Germany‘s motives to the EU enlargement are based on the liberal concept of the common security. The main goals of this policy are the including of European countries into the Western community of developed countries (the EU), the extension of the stability and security area. The economic integration is also very important for Germany. The key priority of the EU enlargement is the Western Balkan region (the so called “Europeanisation” of Western Balkans). This process is being supported by political elites of the region and by the European Union itself. It is recognized, that the Europeanisation of Western Balkans was used as a sample for the Eastern Partnership Program. Without consideration of the Russian factor, though, this strategy towards the post-Soviet countries has many weaknesses. But the EU-membership for the Eastern Partnership members is not excluded.
