The title compound, C17H16N2O5S, crystallized in the chiral monoclinic space groupP21, with two enantiomeric molecules (AandB) in the asymmetric unit. It is composed of a methylimidazolidine-2,4-dione unit substituted with a phenyl group and a 4-methoxyphenylsulfonyl group. The benzene ring mean planes are inclined to one another by 22.20 (14)° in moleculeAand by 15.82 (13)° in moleculeB. In the crystal structure, theAandBmolecules are linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming centrosymmetric dimers. A number of C—H...O interactions are also present in the crystal structure, leading to the formation of a three-dimensinoal network.

There are two molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C8H8ClNO, which are linked in the crystal structureviaN—H...O hydrogen bonds into chains along thebaxis. C—H...O contacts also occur. The benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 5.9 (1) and 16.7 (1)°with the attached amide group in the two independent molecules.

The title compound, C19H16N2O, crystallized with two independent molecules (AandB) in the asymmetric unit. There is an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond in each molecule with the phenol ring being inclined to the central benzene ring by 4.93 (14) and 7.12 (14)° in moleculesAandB, respectively. The conformation of the two molecules differs essentially in the orientation of the terminal aminophenyl ring with respect to the central benzene ring; this dihedral angle is 50.51 (4)° in moleculeAand 54.61 (14)° in moleculeB. The two outer aromatic rings are inclined to one another by 51.39 (14) and 49.88 (14)° in moleculesAandB, respectively. In the crystal, molecules are connected by N—H...O hydrogen bonds generating –A-B–A–B– zigzag chains extending along [010]. The chains are linkedviaC—H...π interactions involving neighbouringAmolecules, forming slabs lying parallel to (100).

The title compound, C16H23Cl2NO, crystallizes in the monoclinic space groupP21with two independent molecules (AandB) in the asymmetric unit. They have essentially the same conformation. Each molecule is built up from fused six- and seven-membered rings and an additional three-membered ring. The six-membered ring has an envelope conformation, with the C atom belonging to the three-membered ring forming the flap, while the seven-membered ring displays a boat conformation. In the crystal, molecules are linked into chains propagating along thea-axis direction by N—H...O hydrogen bonds.

In the title compound, C29H25FN2O4, the mean planes of the two indole ring systems (r.m.s. deviations = 0.1392 and 0.0115 Å) are approximately perpendicular to one another, subtending a dihedral angle of 86.0 (5)°; the benzene ring is twisted with respect to the mean planes of the two indole ring systems by 83.3 (2) and 88.1 (4)°, respectively. In the crystal, pairs of N—H...O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into centrosymmetric dimers, which are further linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds into supramolecular chains propagating along the [101] direction.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C8H6N8·2H2O, contains one half-molecule, with the benzene ring on a centre of symmetry, and two uncoordinated water molecules. The benzene ring is oriented at a dihedral angle of 34.43 (12)° with respect to the tetrazole ring. Strong O—H...N hydrogen bonds link the water molecules to the N atoms of the tetrazole ring. In the crystal structure, strong intermolecular O—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds link the molecules into a network. One of the water H atoms is disordered over two positions and was refined with occupancies of 0.50.

The crystal structure of the title compound, C9H6OS2, represents a new polymorph. The crystal structure was solved in the orthorhombic space groupPbcnwith one half of the molecule in the asymmetric unit. The thiophene rings are perfectly planar and twisted with respect to each other, showing the molecule to be in an S,O-trans/S,O-transconformation. In the crystal, C—H...O hydrogen bonds connect the molecules into layers extending parallel to theabplane. The crystal structure also features π–π interactions.

In the molecule of the title compound, C25H16N4, the pyridine rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 0.92 (3)°, while the dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the adjacent pyridine ring is 56.51 (3)°. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N—H...N hydrogen bonds link the molecules into centrosymmetric dimers, formingR22(16) ring motifs. π–π contacts between the pyridine ring and the indole ring system and between the pyridine rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.923 (2) and 3.724 (2) Å] may further stabilize the structure. Two weak C—H...π interactions are also present.

The title compound, C21H17N3O3, is a new polymorph of an already published structure [Shashidharet al.(2006).Acta Cryst.E62, o4473–o4475]. The previously reported structure crystallizes in the monoclinic space groupC2/c, whereas the structure reported here is in the tetragonal space groupI41/a. The bond lengths and angles are similar in both structures. The molecule adopts an extended conformationviaintramolecular N—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds; the terminal phenyl ring and the hydroxylphenyl ring are twisted with respect to the central benzene ring by 44.43 (7) and 21.99 (8)°, respectively. In the crystal, molecules are linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds and weak C—H...π interactions into a three-dimensional supramolecular network.

A new polymorphic form of the title compound, C8H8O3, is described in the centrosymmetric monoclinic space group P21/c with Z′ = 1 as compared to the first polymorph, which crystallizes with two conformers (Z′ = 2) in the asymmetric unit in the same space group. In the crystal of the second polymorph, inversion dimers linked by O—H...O hydrogen bonds occur and these are linked into zigzag chains, propagating along the b-axis direction by C—H...O links. The crystal structure also features a weak π–π interaction, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.8018 (6) Å. The second polymorph of the title compound is less stable than the reported first polymorph, as indicated by its smaller calculated lattice energy.
