“The increased penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is inspiring the entire design of conventional electrical power system. “A Microgrid (MG) includes distributed generation, loads, energy storage, and a control system that is competent of working in grid-connected mode and/or islanded mode. Power quality (PQ) problems are one of the major technical challenges in MG power system. To get better PQ of energy supply, it is essential to analyze the harmonics distortion of the system. Moreover, harmonic distortion in a MG networks has significantly reduced PQ, which affects the stability of the system. In order to diminish the harmonics, shunt active power filter (SAPF) has been extensively useful and it is verified to be the best solution to current harmonics. The present paper proposes the mitigation of harmonics of a MG system using shunt active power filter (SAPF). However, the SAPF is employed for reimbursing the harmonics concurrently in the distribution system. The proposed model is developed in MATLAB/Simulink and the result obtained validates the superiority of proposed technique over others in terms of harmonics elimination.”

Shunt active power filter (APF) is an electric equipment which effectively optimizes harmonic waves. By measuring the load current, it produces compensated current with opposite amplitude to the load current in order to improve the power quality of the power grid. Little has been reported on how to effectively design the LPF employed in the link of shunt APF and power system. The paper theoretically analyzes constrains for parameters of the LCR output filter, and then determines the optimal LRC filter parameters by comparing different output filter (OF) functions. At last, the experiment results further verify the correctness of the design method.

A novel simulation-based spectral technique for power quality and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design of an independent electrical power system (EPS) has been proposed. Power filter optimization problem has been formulated to provide full solution of the electric power quality and conducted EMI problems in the EPS. The spectral technique has been implemented within a CAD tool. An example of power quality and EMC design has been provided for an independent EPS where an AC power source generates a power, which is comparable to the consumed power, and an additional power filter is calculated for an electronic product including a switch-mode power supply. Current and voltage spectra calculations have been verified with a block-oriented simulation program Simulink. Numerical experiments revealed a number of important features of the proposed spectral technique.

This paper presents a novel intelligent fault-tolerant control method for a kind of more electric aircraft AC/DC hybrid electrical power system, in order to ensure the safe operation of the engine and improve the power supply quality. The more electric aircraft electrical power system was combined with an aircraft engine, two generators, two AC/DC rectifiers, two DC/AC inverters, DC loads, and AC loads. A multi-objective optimization intelligent sliding mode fault-tolerant controller was obtained for aircraft engine with actuator faults. Each of AC/DC rectifiers is 12-pulse autotransformer rectifier unit with active power filter. Active power filter was used to realize the desired performance of DC bus. Intelligent fractional order PI controller is presented for AC/DC rectifier by considering multiple performance indexes. In order to guarantee the AC-side has satisfying voltage, current, and frequency, no matter the sudden change of AC load that happens or DC/AC fault that occurs, the virtual synchronous generator control method was used for DC/AC inverters. Simulation results verify the effective of the proposed more electric aircraft AC/DC hybrid electrical power system.
