In this paper, a fault diagnosis method for spacecraft based on telemetry data mining and fault tree analysis was proposed. Decision trees are constructed from the history telemetry data of the spacecraft, and are used to classify the current data which is unknown whether it is fault. If there is a fault, the fault tree method will be used to analyze the fault reason and the impact on the spacecraft system. This method can effectively solve the problem of diagnostic knowledge acquisition. We design and construct a fault diagnosis expert system for spacecraft based on this diagnosis method. An experiment is presented to prove the effectiveness and practicality of the expert system.

The constituting of diagnosis expert system and the basic theory of fault tree analysis were introduced at first. A model of combining fault tree with expert system was analyzed. It focused on the hydraulic excavator PC220-7 for Komatsu according to the hydraulic system breakdown of law and order was particularity. A method combined the fault tree analysis with an expert system based rules was adopted. It was expressed systematically expert knowledge by building a fault tree. According to the fault tree, a database of diagnostic rule can be automatically generated. Automatic diagnosis knowledge acquisition has become reality. A hydraulic system fault of excavator was given as an example to design an expert system with the function of complex reasoning and explanation. It provides a reference for hydraulic excavator of the use of management and fault maintenance personnel to solve excavator problems. It shows that this method has a good application in the future.

Wireless communications became one of the most widespread means for transferring information. Speed and reliability in transferring the piece of information are considered one of the most important requirements in communication systems in general. Moreover, Quality and reliability in any system are considered the most important criterion of the efficiency of this system in doing the task it is designed to do and its ability for satisfactory performance for a certain period of time, Therefore, we need fault tree analysis in these systems in order to determine how to detect an error or defect when happening in communication system and what are the possibilities that make this error happens. This research deals with studying TETRA system components, studying the physical layer in theory and practice, as well as studying fault tree analysis in this system, and later benefit from this study in proposing improvements to the structure of the system, which led to improve gain in Link Budget. A simulation and test have been done using MATLAB, where simulation results have shown that the built fault tree is able to detect the system’s work by 82.4%.
