In the city center, business or firms are functioning as a dominant attractor of employment and also employment locations which linked the land use and transportation system. The objective of this paper is to describe the location model of firms in Kuala Lumpur area. Two important determinants of location choice model in this study are the accessibility measures and the suitability analysis indicators. The model focuses on the statistical technique for analyzing discrete choice data by using econometric and Geographic Information System software. The findings in this paper show that agriculture, mining, electricity, gas and water, transport and finance firms' type are mostly located outside of Kuala Lumpur's Central Business District area. Meanwhile, manufacturing, construction and wholesale firms' type are located in the Central Business District area. The result of this study will highlight the use of discrete choice models in the analysis of firm location decisions which will be a foundation to facilitate town planners and decision makers to understand the firm location decisions in their region.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to establish the mediation effects of public–private–partnership (PPP) on the association between complementary entrepreneurial networking and the entrepreneurial ecosystem quality for sustainable franchising. Design/methodology/approach A structured questionnaire was used to collect this study’s qualitative data from a study population of sub-franchisor organizations in Uganda. Statistical techniques were used to analyze the data. Findings Part of the authorized distributors’ mutually beneficial networking is directly connected to multi-actor networks that continuously simplify their local access to affordable franchise financing, mentors and supportive leaders. Also, the same association is mediated through PPP supported franchise-business information and widely appealing awards to be won. Research limitations/implications One of the areas for further study is a related study on the moderating effects of the PPP support in another developing country, which is clarified in this study. Originality/value The complexity theory has provided an explanation of the entrepreneurial ecosystem quality for sustainable franchising across the rural and urban markets in an African country.

The study investigated the price movement and market integration of rural and urban price of brown and white cowpea in Gombe State, Nigeria. Monthly market prices (measured in Naira per kilogram) of brown and white cowpea in the rural and urban markets from January 2009 to December 2014. The data was obtained from the Gombe State Agricultural Development Programme (GSADP). Augmented Dickey Fuller test was used to detect for the presence of unit root in the series. The Granger causality test was used to test the direction of influence between prices. The descriptive statistics shows that the average price of rural brown cowpea was ₦109.88k, rural price of white was ₦95.71k, urban price of brown was ₦ 123.18k while urban price of white was ₦ 110. Unit root test indicated that the prices were stationary at level I(0) and first difference I(1). The Johansen co- integration analysis was used to test for the relationship between markets price and the results indicated that the rural and urban markets price were co- integrated. Pair-wise granger causality test indicated a bi-directional movement between the urban price of brown and urban price of white and a uni-directional movement between rural price of white cowpea and rural price of brown cowpea. There is need for the State government to establish market information centers and information centre of the GSADP should facilitate efficient communication and flow of information concerning prices of agricultural products using the mass media and social media.
