Proteus mirabilis is a pathogen that has been linked to nosocomial infections. Studies on phages infecting P. mirabilis may provide therapeutics for infections caused by antibiotic-resistant strains of this pathogen. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of a P. mirabilis myophage, Mydo, which is distantly related to Escherichia coli phage rv5.

We report here the complete annotated genome sequence of a clinical serovar 8 isolate Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae MIDG2331. Unlike the serovar 8 reference strain 405, MIDG2331 is amenable to genetic manipulation via natural transformation as well as conjugation, making it ideal for studies of gene function.

Proteus mirabilis as a nosocomial pathogen is often the cause of urinary tract infections. This announcement describes the complete genome sequence of a P. mirabilis myophage named Myduc. Phage Myduc is related to Enterobacteria phage phiEcoM-GJ1, which belongs to a group of myophages with small genome sizes (52,000 to 56,000 bp) possessing a T7-like RNA polymerase.

Lysinibacillus sphaericusis a species that contains strains widely used in the biological control of mosquitoes. Here, we present the complete 4.67-Mb genome of the WHO entomopathogenic reference strainL. sphaericus2362, which is probably one of the most commercialized and studied strains. Genes coding for mosquitocidal toxin proteins were detected.

The complete genome sequence of Bluetongue virus (BTV) serotype 17 strain 17/BRA/2014/73, isolated from a sheep in Brazil in 2014, is reported here. All segments clustered with western topotype strains and indicated reassortment events with other BTV from the Americas. The strain 17/BRA/2014/73 represents a novel reference strain for BTV-17 from South America.

Bartonella bacilliformis is the biological agent of Carrion’s disease, a vector-borne, life-threatening human bartonellosis restricted to South America. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of B. bacilliformis KC584 (ATCC 35686). Although it is commonly used as a reference strain, to date, its complete genome has not been published.
