Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of an Australian passerine bird, magpie-lark ( Grallina cyanoleuca ). The circular genome has a size of 16,933 bp and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. This study provides a reference mitochondrial genome of magpie-lark for further molecular studies.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the ascomycete Pyronema confluens has been sequenced. The circular genome has a size of 191 kb and contains 48 protein-coding genes, 26 tRNA genes, and two rRNA genes. Of the protein-coding genes, 14 encode conserved mitochondrial proteins, and 31 encode predicted homing endonuclease genes.

Abstract Hydropsyche fryeri belongs to the Trichopteridae family and builds nests in clean and unpolluted streams using stones. It also can be used as an indicator of water quality. Here, we describe the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Hydropsyche fryeri. The mitochondrial genome is 15,676 bp long and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs and an AT-rich control region. Phylogenetic tree analysis shows that Hydropsyche fryeri is more closely related to the family Hydroptera than other Trichoptera.

This is the first complete mitochondrial genome sequence for sunflower and the first complete mitochondrial genome for any member of Asteraceae , the largest plant family, which includes over 23,000 named species. The master circle is 300,945-bp long and includes 27 protein-coding sequences, 18 tRNAs, and the 26S, 5S, and 18S rRNAs.

Abstract Clarias gariepinus is an economically important fish belonging to Siluriformes. In order to understand the characterization of catfishes, the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the African catfish C. gariepinus was determined using 17 pairs of primers. The complete mitogenome is 16,508 bp in length and contains 37 mitochondrial genes (13 protein-coding, two rRNA, and 22 tRNA genes) and a control region as in most other fishes. Moreover, a comparison of C. gariepinus with Clarias batrachus, Clarias fuscus and Clarias sp. NM-2010 indicated that the four mitogenomics were similar in length, total nucleotide compositions and codon usage patterns, but different in 13 protein-coding genes, control region and other aspects. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of C. gariepinus would contribute to better understanding of population genetics, conservation, biogeography and evolution of this species.
