As heavy baryon ΛQ (Q=b or c) consists of a heavy quark and a scalar light diquark, we establish the Bethe-Salpeter (B-S) equation for ΛQ in the heavy quark limit. With the reasonable kernel we solve the B-S equation numerically and calculate the Isgur-Wise function as Λb→Λc.

The present study investigates the decay of B to heavy meson using the soft collinear effective theory. By assigning different loop momenta, the factorization has been tested and it is found to be valid to all orders in the perturbation theory. It is noted that theory contains one hard collinear and two soft modes depending upon virtuality of different momenta. In the next step, symmetry-conserving relations (in heavy quark limits) to the form factors have been studied. These relations are then used to parametrize the form factors to get symmetry-breaking corrections. These symmetry-breaking corrections can be calculated using perturbative (vertex corrections) as well as nonperturbative (hard spectator interactions) QCD. It is found that in the heavy quark limit, these symmetry contributions do not contribute to the form factors that appear in physical observables for the case of [Formula: see text] decays which are contrary to the heavy-to-light meson decays.

We discuss the extension of the superflavor symmetry of doubly heavy baryons to states which contain an excited heavy diquark and we examine some of the consequences of this symmetry for the spectra of doubly heavy baryons and heavy mesons. We explore the ramifications of a proposed symmetry that relates heavy diquarks to doubly heavy mesons. We present a method for determining how the excitation energy of a system containing two heavy quarks will scale as one changes the strength of the interactions and the reduced mass of the system. We use this to derive consequences of the heavy diquark-doubly heavy meson symmetry. We compare these consequences to the results of a quark model as well as the experimental data for doubly and singly heavy mesons. We also discuss the possibility of treating the strange quark as a heavy quark and apply the ideas developed here to strange hadrons.
