Rubber spring plays an important role in improving train performance, so the study of rubber spring is one of the focuses of train dynamics. The vertical characteristic parameters of rubber spring are affected by prepressure significantly, as a result of varying parameters of static stiffness, dynamic stiffness, periodic energy consumption, damping coefficient, and so on. In order to use the theoretical method to calculate the precise static stiffness and predict the dynamic characteristics and to reduce the workload of the rubber spring performance test, this paper takes the annular rubber pad as an example to study with different prepressures. In this paper, the convexity coefficient correction formula (simply called the CCCF) for static stiffness calculation and the dynamic fiducial conversion coefficient (simply called the DFCC) method based on different prepressures are proposed. Through further analysis, the accuracy of CCCF and DFCC is proved both theoretically and experimentally. The results have shown precise prediction of the variation of prepressure on rubber spring parameters by using CCCF and DFCC and can be used as the reference of accurate vertical dynamic-static characteristics of the rubber spring.

This study was focused on the theoretical modeling and numerical investigation about the dynamic and static stiffness of spindle system of high speed grinder. The moment balance and the transition matrix, the state vector, field matrix of spindle system of high speed grinder were analyzed and deduced. The theoretical models about dynamic and static stiffness were established using the transfer matrix method. The numerical results showed that increas of the preload could result in the improvement of static stiffness of spindle end within the range of its working speed; the reduction of front overhang length would improve the stiffness of spindle end, as well as the dynamic stiffness of spindle at the working speed; the stiffness of spindle end decreased with the increase of speed with different bearing spans within the range of working speed of spindle.

The numerical results showed that increased rigidity of front bearing significantly increased static and dynamic rigidity of spindle end and the rigidity of front bearing increased, dynamic rigidity increased more significantly than static rigidity. Furthermore, it can be conclued that increased overhang length reduced dynamic and static rigidity of spindle end at an increasingly slower rate and the span of bearing increased, static and dynamic rigidities of spindle end were reduced

A low-cost and high-speed electro-optic (EO) switch using the guest–host EO material Disperse Red 1/Polymethyl Methacrylate (DR1/PMMA) was designed and fabricated. The DR1/PMMA material presented a low processing cost, an excellent photostability and a large EO coefficient of 13.1 pm/V. To improve the performance of the switch, the in-plane buried electrode structure was introduced in the polymer Mach–Zehnder waveguide to improve the poling and modulating efficiency. The characteristic parameters of the waveguide and the electrodes were carefully designed and the fabrication process was strictly controlled. Under 1550 nm, the insertion loss of the device was 12.7 dB. The measured switching rise time and fall time of the switch were 50.00 ns and 54.29 ns, respectively.

The harmonic reducer, with its advantages of high precision, low noise, light weight, and high speed ratio, has been widely used in aerospace solar wing deployment mechanisms, antenna pointing mechanisms, robot joints, and other precision transmission fields. Accurately predicting the performance of the harmonic reducer under various application conditions is of great significance to the high reliability and long life of the harmonic reducer. In this paper, a set of automatic harmonic reducer performance test systems is designed. By using the CANOpen bus interface to control the servo motor as the drive motor, through accurately controlling the motor speed and rotation angle, collecting the angle, torque, and current in real time, the life cycle test of space harmonic reducer was carried out in high vacuum and low temperature environment on the ground. Then, the collected data were automatically analyzed and calculated. The test data of the transmission accuracy, backlash, and transmission efficiency of the space harmonic reducer were obtained. It is proven by experiments that the performance data of the harmonic reducer in space work can be more accurately obtained by using the test system mentioned in this paper, which is convenient for further research on related lubricating materials.

This study adopts the DMT(dynamic mesh technology) and UDF(user defined functions) co-simulation method to study the dynamic characteristics of aerostatic thrust bearings with equalizing grooves and compare with the bearing without equalizing groove under high speed or ultra high speed for the first time. The effects of air film thicness, supply pressure, rotation speed, perturbation amplitude, perturbation frequency, and cross section of the groove on performance characteristics of aerostatic thrust bearing are thoroughly investigated. The results show that the dynamic stiffiness and damping coefficient of the bearing with triangular or trapezoidal groove have obvious advantages by comparing with that of the bearing without groove or with rectangular groove for the most range of air film thickness, supply pressure, rotation speed, perturbation amplitude, especially in the case of high frequency, which may be due to the superposition of secondary throttling effect and air compressible effect. While the growth range of dynamic stiffness decreases in the case of high or ultra-high rotation speed, which may be because the Bernoulli effect started to appear. The perturbation amplitude only has little influence on the dynamic characteristic when it is small, but with the increase of perturbation amplitude, the influence becomes more obvious and complex, especially for downsized aerostatic bearing.

Foil bearing is considered to be a promising supporting technology in high-speed centrifugal machinery. Due to the high-speed shearing effect in the viscous lubricant film, heat generation could not be ignored. In this paper, a thermo-elastic model of the multi-leaf foil thrust bearing is proposed to predict its thermal and static characteristics. In the model, modified Reynolds equation, energy equation, and Kirchhoff equation are solved in a coupling way. The contact area between the foil and welding plate is taken into account. Besides, the effect of cooling air on the bearing temperature is investigated. The ultimate load capacity and transient overload failure process of the bearing is analyzed and discussed. The effect of rotation speed on the bearing temperature is more obvious than that of the bearing load. The bearing temperature drops obviously by introducing the cooling air, and the cooling effect is improved with the supply pressure. The transient overload failure of the bearing occurs when the bearing load exceeds the ultimate value.

Ball screw is a high-precision and high performance linear drive of mechanical elements. The frictional heat of internal components what is very significant impact for platform transmission in high speed and the high axial load and causes the thermal expansion of element. In this research , the influence of different greases on ball screw is investigated in thermal rising of nut and driving torque in high speed and high axial load. A vertical motion platform was used for driving performance test. Thermal rising of nut of ball screw and the variance of transmission torque whose lubricated by high viscosity base oil grease is significant larger than the lower one. High viscosity grease is not easy to carry out the friction heat generated at ball and raceway contact area due to the bad flowing properties. It also has more serious wear occurred at contact area and high friction force, whose causes the large variance of transmission torque.

Permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) suspension system has the merits of no friction, high-speed, high response and so on, using the normal force achieve the mover suspension. The servo performance is affected by the nonlinear coupling between the horizontal trust and vertical normal force, parameters uncertainties and load disturbances. The feedback linearization method is used to achieve the dynamic decoupling of the PMLSM suspicion system and decoupling it Into two linear subsystems; to solve the conflict between disturbance restraint and fast tracking performance, increase the robustness and dynamic stiffness for system, H∞ speed controller based on PDFF and position proportional controller are designed. Simulation results show that the proposed control strategy guarantees the high speed and high precision positioning performance for horizontal axis; the good rigidity and stability for normal suspension length and the strong robustness against load disturbances and parameters variations for the two axes.

A theoretical method is derived for predicting the linearized response characteristics of constant deadrise high-speed planing boats in head and following waves. Comparisons of the theoretical predictions of the pitch and heave response amplitude operators and phase angles with existing experimental data show reasonably good agreement for a wide variety of conditions of interest. It appears that nonlinear effects are more severe at a speed to length ratio of 6 than of, say, 4 or less, principally because of the reduction of the damping ratio of the boat with increasing speed, and the consequent increase in motions in the vicinity of the resonant encounter frequency. However, it is concluded that the linear theory can provide a simple and fast means of determining the effect of various parameters such as trim angle, deadrise, loading, and speed on the damping, natural frequency, and linearized response in waves, and that this can furnish valuable insight into the actual boat dynamics, even though the accurate predictions of large motions and peak accelerations would require a nonlinear analysis.

Abstract A study of the flattening and cooling of particles plasma-sprayed on a substrate is presented. The characteristic parameters of the splats are linked to the parameters of the impacting particles by using an experimental device consisting of a phase Doppler particle analyzer and a high-speed pyrometer. However, during the long experiments required to get reliable correlations, it was observed that variations in plasma spray operating conditions may alter the particles behavior in the plasma jet. Therefore, a simple and easy-to-use system was developed to control in real time the spray jet. In this paper, the effect of carrier gas flow rate, arc current and powder mass flow rate is investigated. The results on zirconia and alumina powders show the capability of the technique to sense the particle spray position and width.
