Digital reading promotion service is a service way for libraries to provide readers with a series of digital resources, enjoy the service functions, and share the experience of using them in various digital reading platforms, which is to meet the reading interests and reading needs of more readers, and is also the focus of the current library work. In the era of new media, the characteristics of digital reading are subtly changing the readers’ needs for reading environment, reading content, and reading style. Libraries should keep pace with the development of the times and provide readers with diversified, intelligent, and targeted digital reading platforms. The digital reading platform should continuously improve the digital reading service functions, broaden the service scope and dissemination channels, and finally realize the diversification, interest, and intelligence of digital reading service. This paper takes the digital reading platform of libraries in the region as the research theme and carries out research work on libraries. The province is divided into three regions according to the geographical map: southeastern region, central region, and northwestern region. The digital reading platforms of 14 prefecture-level public libraries and 58 libraries of higher education institutions in each region were accessed. Firstly, we check the construction of digital resources within the library websites, secondly, we count the opening of digital reading platform functions, and finally, we check the opening of digital reading platforms. Through the research, it is found that there are problems of unbalanced distribution of digital reading resources in regional libraries; unattractive design of readers’ interface and inadequate reading service functions; lack of continuous training of readers’ guidance; insufficient publicity and promotion; low efficiency of staff in responding to consultation; and low degree of platform openness and weak awareness of sharing. Finally, the problems found in the research are summarized, and the solution measures for the regional digital reading platform are proposed. Libraries in the digital era should give priority to systems that can manage all library resources comprehensively and effectively, adapt to more flexible library workflows, and enable libraries to provide better services to users.

In the 21st century, with the rapid development of mobile Internet, people's reading habits have started shifting from the traditional paper-based media, to completely new media such as cell phones, eBook readers, tablet PCs and so on. "Shanghai Library’s Urban Digital Reading Service Platform" integrates all types of collections of digital resources to support eBook readers, tablet PCs, smart phones and other types ofmobiledevices. Thisplatformprovidesaconvenient,low-costandfriendlylearninginterfacetoonline users, providing one of the best reading experiences. This also creates a one-stop public library reading platform, and meets the reader’s need for reading on the go. By investigating and researching libraries’ experiences and requirements for digital reading platforms and its internationalization service, this paper will discuss its further development.

The theme of digital reading is becoming ever more relevant with a growing understanding of the importance of reading for developing both an individual and society as a whole. The issue addressed in the article is connected with the recently evolved concept of “digital reading”. The article is aimed at understanding digital reading and its core modifications – static (reading from the screen of an electronic gadget), reading of hypertext, reading in polymedia culture, as well as understanding what makes digital reading different (ideologically, physiologically, technologically) from traditional forms of reading. The author examines its genealogy as it was formed in the context of the evolution of writing and the emergence of new media and information centered printed culture. As a result the author specifies her own definition of digital reading and comes to the conclusion that it is most actively employed in education, which is rapidly becoming digitalized. The author also emphasizes the special function of modern libraries (public libraries, children’ libraries, school and university libraries), which should play the role of the “competent adult” in helping the user to develop the digital reading competences.

Abstract Objective – The objective of this study was to survey American public libraries about their collection and use of graphic novels and compare their use to similar data collected about video games. Methods – Public libraries were identified and contacted electronically for participation through an open US government database of public library systems. The libraries contacted were asked to participate voluntarily. Results – The results indicated that both graphic novels and video games have become a common part of library collections, and both media can have high levels of impact on circulation. Results indicated that while almost all libraries surveyed had some graphic novels in their collections, those serving larger populations were much more likely to use graphic novels in patron outreach. Similarly, video game collection was also more commonly found in libraries serving larger populations. Results also showed that young readers were the primary users of graphic novels. Conclusion – Responses provided a clear indicator that graphic novels are a near-ubiquitous part of public libraries today. The results on readership bolster the concept of graphic novels as a gateway to adult literacy. The results also highlight differences between larger and smaller libraries in terms of resource allocations towards new media. The patron demographics associated with comics show that library cooperation could be a potential marketing tool for comic book companies.

This paper Discuses present status of database management practices and use of digital resources of five selected Public University Libraries of Bangladesh. Survey has been carried out on the names of used software, number of databases for the dissemination of library resources with total number of records, subscription of online journals with other digital and electronic resources, number of current/bound journals, computers, CDs and audiovisual materials etc. The objectives, methodology for collection, presentation and analysis of collected data for this study and highlights the meaning, need, main considerations, components and domain of library automation in the context of surveyed libraries also have been described. The development of digital technology combined with the evolution of Internet has prompted significant changes in library services and operations within the last few years. The study tries to focus on the availability of hardware and software in the respective library, examine types and forms of library collections, various house keeping operations, management, services, and library administration etc. It has also put forward some suggestions for the future development of the surveyed libraries. Descriptive method is used and a researcher-made questionnaire formed the major instrument for data gathering. Descriptive and inferential statistics are applied. It found that teenagers’ need is more textbooks than other resources, </span><span>of course their first priority is educational books. It means that the teenagers interest to educational books, but it </span><span>wasn’t their main need. Most used library services was familiarity to library while adolescents need to expand and improve lending services. Finally, it was concluded that libraries were less successful in meeting the teenagers’ need based on their priorities. Therefore, libraries need to be equally important in the development of their resources and services based on the priorities and needs. In this way, their needs are answered, and according to their priority, the library will answer their leisure time according to teenagers’ interest. </span></p></div></div></div>

This paper reports on the quest for the interface between Terminology, Informaticsand the Termisul Project. Three landmarks highlight the account, DOS, Windows, and Internet.They characterize the steps of a team of linguists towards the computerized era. As far as thetechnology advanced, their perception of digital resources changed from being mereoperational help in data management to representing sophisticated tools assisting research andeventually to the demand of cooperative work with computer scientists. The difficulties of theearly stages encountered in the path tread are remembered. The meaningful results of theefforts taken are described. The challenges of the ongoing research work are outlined.

This study investigated ways in which summer reading programs (SRPs) support children’s recreational reading interests and habits and help to promote reading and literacy throughout the summer months. The primary research question was: How do children, parents, and library staff experience their public library summer reading program? This paper will present selected findings from the study related to children’s reading experiences in school and during the summer, reading games and incentives, and designing summer reading programs that emphasize the social aspects of reading. Findings from this study suggest that school and public libraries should consider moving away from traditional summer reading programs that include reading games and rewards and focus instead on providing children, their parents, and library staff members with greater opportunities to interact with books and reading, and one another, throughout the summer.

The diffusion of new media, of online communication, and the increasingly evident overlap between online and offline environments generates a specific question for scientific research on how these contents can represent an opportunity for “emancipation” and at the same time new areas in which can experience processes of exclusion, in particular for the LGBT community. In this sense, social media offers transgender people a wide range of tools and applications to create new knowledge, interact with other people, create new meeting opportunities, or trace new relationships and/or new emotional and sexual experiences. This research work aims to investigate the psychological, relational, and social aspects of transgender people who use social media and dating apps as communication spaces and relational environments in order to outline the peculiar aspects of media consumption, regulatory access and processes of stigmatization, and social discriminations by the web.

A university degree is not enough in itself to equip a mathematics teacher for successful secondary school-teaching in the longer term. Without continuous training and career-long learning, a teacher will not be able to provide adequate support for students in activities such as extended essays or explorations, both of which are compulsory components of the IB programme. In this paper, we present some examples of such work by IB students at our school. In addition, some Slovenian secondary school students regularly participate in a national research competition for which they must submit project-based work in various fields. The present article describes how university departments co-operated with our secondary school in the course of such research. Examples of research carried out by a number of 16-year-old students at our school are also presented here.

Field study discovered some information needs of homeless people visiting public libraries in New York. During summer 2006, reference areas of New York public libraries were observed unobtrusively to track homeless patrons’ use of library resources and services. Findings include the use of resources and services by homeless patrons groups.Une étude de terrain révèle certains besoins informationnels des itinérants visitant les bibliothèques publiques de New York. Pendant l’été 2006, les services de références des bibliothèques publiques de New York ont été observés de manière non obstructive afin de connaître les ressources et les services des bibliothèques utilisés par les itinérants. Les résultats incluent l’utilisation des ressources et des services par les groupes d’usagers itinérants.
