Moldenhawera is a small genus of Caesalpinioideae (Leguminosae), characterized by biramous (T-shaped) trichomes, compoundly pinnate stipules, hypanthium absence, clawed petals, dimorphic androecium, and anther connective of the fertile stamen pubescent. Moldenhawera congestiflora, a new species from the Atlantic Forest in Bahia State, Brazil is described and illustrated. It is distinguished from other species of the M. sect. Brasilianae by the combination of its tree habit, leaves relatively long (rachis > 24 cm long), leaflets elliptic to oblong with apex acuminate, flower buds densely grouped at the inflorescence apex, flowers pentamerous, petal blades relatively small (6–8 × 4–5 mm), and base of fertile stamen villous. Additionally we provide a new identification key for the section Brasilianae.

Moldenhawera is a small genus of caesalpinioid legumes from eastern Brazil, characterized by the presence of T-shaped trichomes, flowers lacking a hypanthium, clawed petals with wrinkled margins, and dimorphic androecium with only one fertile stamen. Moldenhawera longipedicellata is described as a new species from the Atlantic Forest phytogeographical domain in Espírito Santo State, Brazil. It is similar to M. floribunda, M. polysperma and M. papillanthera by presenting slender staminodia filaments, longer than the anthers. However, it can be distinguished from those related species by the once-pinnate leaves (vs. bipinnate), flowers with long pedicels (2–5.9 cm long) and larger sepals (16–25 × 4–8 mm) and petals (petal claw 10–19 mm long and petal blade 14–24 × 13–23 mm).

A new species of Bertolonia (Melastomataceae; Bertolonieae) endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest is described and illustrated. Bertolonia organensis is known from only one locality in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park, state of Rio de Janeiro. The main diagnostic characteristics that distinguish B. organensis are the leaves with bullate adaxial surface and foveolate abaxial surface, cordate base and seven acrodromous veins, petiole and hypanthium glandulose-punctate, setulose and setulose-glandulose, the external calyx lobes erect, thick, narrow-triangular, apex acuminate-glandulose, margin entire, not ciliate, and the anthers connective dorsally appendaged, trilobed or with an acute calcar. Comparisons with similar species, geographic distribution and habitat are presented for the new species, as well as a key to identify all Bertolonia taxa known from the state of Rio de Janeiro. Bertolonia organensis is classified as Critically Endangered (CR).

Tocoyena atlantica, a new species endemic to southern Bahia and northern Espírito Santo states, Brazil, is here described and illustrated. The species consists of trees 5−8 m tall; with petioles 2−5 cm long, and leaf blades 7.4−24.5 × 2.5−9.1 cm, elliptic, adaxially glabrous; calyces cup-shaped with triangular lobes; corolla yellow during anthesis, with tube gradually wider towards the mouth; and laterally compressed hypanthia. Based on IUCN criteria, we consider T. atlantica endangered, with three collection localities within the Atlantic Forest domain. An identification key for species of Tocoyena occurring in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest is also provided.

The Brazilian Atlantic Forest is one of the most diverse biomes in the world. The state of Bahia includes an important portion of the central corridor of Atlantic Forest that runs along the Brazilian coast. Myrtaceae is a dominant family of trees in this biome, and among its genera, Plinia is a genus notable for high number of endangered species in the Bahia Atlantic Forest. Plinia ybotyrype is here described, discussed and illustrated. An identification key for related species is also provided.

Udamopyga Hall, 1938 sensu stricto previously comprised 20 species: three from the Nearctic Region and 17 from the Neotropics. A comparative morphological study of the seven species so far recorded from Brazil is presented, including a newly described species from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, Udamopyga squamata sp. nov., with emphasis on the terminalia and the addition of new diagnostic characters. An identification key to the adults of both sexes of these species is provided.

Abstract—A new species of Eugenia from the Atlantic forest of Brazil is described and illustrated. Eugenia flavicarpa is restricted to the Floresta de Tabuleiro (lowland forests) of Espírito Santo state and is nested in Eugenia subg. Pseudeugenia. Considering all other species of the subgenus that occur in forest vegetation types of the Atlantic forest phytogeographic domain, Eugenia flavicarpa can be distinguished mainly by the combination of smooth leaves with indumentum on both surfaces, with two marginal veins, usually ramiflorous inflorescences, pedicels 4.5‐9.7 mm long, flower buds 3.5‐4 mm in diameter, and by the calyx lobes that are 2‐3 mm long with rounded to obtuse apices. Morphological analyses were performed to explore the significance of quantitative diagnostic features between the new species and the closely related species, Eugenia farneyi. Notes on the habitat, distribution, phenology, and conservation status of Eugenia flavicarpa are provided, as well as a key for all species of Eugenia subg. Pseudeugenia from forest vegetation of the Atlantic forest phytogeographic domain.

Three new species of Otostigmus Porat, 1876 from Brazilian Atlantic Forest are described. Otostigmus beckeri sp. n. andO. lanceolatus sp. n. are described from the state of Bahia and O. giupponii sp. n. from the state of Espírito Santo. InBrazil, the otostigmine scolopendrid genus Otostigmus comprises 22 species. A summary of Brazilian Otostigmus speciesis presented with new distribution records, taxonomic remarks when appropriate and an identification key. Otostigmus sul-catus Meinert, 1886 is recorded for the first time from Brazil; the Andean Otostigmus silvestrii Kraepelin 1903, previouslyrecorded from Brazil, is here considered not to be present in this country. Eight nominal species are regarded here as newsynonyms. Five of them—Otostigmus pradoi Bücherl, 1939, O. longistigma Bücherl, 1939, O. longipes Bücherl, 1939,O. langei Bücherl, 1946 and O. dentifusus Bücherl, 1946—are based on females of O. tibialis Brölemann, 1902. O. latipesBücherl, 1954 is conspecific with and is considered a junior synonym of O. sulcatus Meinert, 1886; O. limbatus diminutusBücherl, 1946 is a junior synonym of O. limbatus Meinert, 1886 and O. fossulatus Attems, 1928 is a junior synonym of O. goeldii Brölemann, 1898. A lectotype is designated for O. goeldii.
