Abstract The main purpose of B.A. Ackerman's book on social justice in a Liberal State is the one to propose a model of State able to overcome both the capitalistic and the marxian models, on the basis of a truly rational and scientific approach to Liberalism. The new model certainly deserves attention, though Mr. Ackerman's views seem sometimes to suffer from a scientist illusion.
