Objective To investigate the prevalence of fragmented QRS (fQRS) on electrocardiograms (ECG) in patients with different stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and to examine the association between fQRS and left ventricular systolic function. Methods This retrospective study analysed clinical and laboratory data from consecutive patients with CKD. The relationship between fQRS and left ventricular systolic function was evaluated using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results A total of 310 patients (186 males; mean ± SD age, 52.24 ± 15.72 years) with CKD participated in this study. The prevalence of fQRS was 30.32% (94 of 310 patients). The prevalence of fQRS was more common in the inferior leads (53.19%; 50 of 94) compared with the anterior leads (21.28%; 20 of 94) and the lateral leads (25.53%; 24 of 94). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that left ventricular ejection fraction (odds ratio [OR] 1.356; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.022, 2.036) and coronary artery disease (OR 2.355; 95% CI 1.056, 5.251) were independent risk factors of fQRS in patients with CKD. Conclusion The fQRS was prevalent in patients with CKD regardless of the CKD stage.

Background: There are many new methods for evaluating the left ventricular systolic function. The aim of this study was to compare the methods, which evaluate the systolic function such as M-modeTeichholz method, tissue Doppler imaging with Sm wave. Methods: 65 patients hospitalized with hypertension and dilated cardiomyopathy. All patients underwent echocardiographic examination by M-mode, two- dimensional, Doppler and tissue Doppler Imaging. Results:When left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) reduced, TDI with Sm velocity were also lower (p<0.001). When lateral Sm of mitral valve ring were > 7.7 cm/s and septal Sm mitral valve ring were > 6cm/s, EF ≥ 50% with the sensitivity 96,2% and the specificity 89.7%. Conclusions: Sm wave velocity may be used reliably to assess the left ventricular performance regardless of the patient’s echogenity. Key words: Tisue Doppler, Systolic left ventricular function

This study intends to use 3D cardiac anatomical model automatic quantitative technique Heart Model (HM) to assess left ventricular systolic function in patients with myocardial infarction. Thirty patients with myocardial infarction (case group) and 32 healthy individuals (control group) were enrolled in this study.M-mode echocardiography (MME), two-dimensional echocardiography (2DE), 3D cardiac anatomical model (HM) and real-time 3D echocardiography (3DE) were used to collect echocardiographic images. Left ventricular systolic function parameters (LVEDV), left ventricular end-systolic volume (LVESV), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were obtained from two post-surgical analysis of more than 5 years of experience. Compared to control group, MME, 2DE, HM, and 3DE were significantly higher in the LVEDV and LVESV cases and lower in the LVEF (P < 0 05). MME, 2DE, HM and 3DE were correlated and best correlation as found between HM and 3DE (P < 0 05). For the consistency of MME, 2DE, HM and 3DE, the best consistency was observed in the LVEF of HM and 3DE, and case group was lower than control (P < 0 05). In terms of repeatability of MME, 2DE, HM and 3DE, HM showed the best repeatability followed by MME. In comparison of the time of MME, 2DE, HM and 3DE, HM had shortest time (< 0 05). HM automatic quantitative technique can evaluate left ventricular systolic function in myocardial infarction patients, and it is simple, rapid and reproducible.
