Background: Acute appendititis is the common emergency. However, misdiagnosis and mistaken diagnosis can be made. Appendititis scales were built for more accurately diagnosis. How to choose a good scales for appendititis diagnosis is still questioning.
Objective: Compare the value of Eskelinen, modified Alvarado, Tzanakis and Ohmann scores in acute appendititis diagnosis.
Subjects and methods: A prospective observational study. Our study included patients had the clincal symptoms and signs of appendititis amitted Emergency Department Bach Mai Hospital.
Results: 52 patients had clinical appendititis symptoms and signs were included in this study with 13 males and 39 females. AUROC of modified Alvarado, Ohmann, Eskelinenn, Tzanakis were 0.905, 0.826, 0.769, 0.800 at each scale’s cut-off points, respectively.
Conclusion: In this study, Ohmann scale had the highest sensitivity (95.56%), however modified Avalrado was most accuracy with AUROC= 0.905. Tzanakis scale had lowest senstivity (78.26%). Therefore, in clinical pratice, somehow Ohmann and modified Alvarado scales are better than others in diagnosis appendititis.
