Embroidery is the craft of decorating fabric or other materials using a needle to apply thread or yarn. Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as pearls, beads, quills, and sequins. In modern days, embroidery is usually seen on caps, hats, coats, blankets, dress shirts, denim, dresses, stockings, and golf shirts. Embroidery is available with a wide variety of thread or yarn color. Embroidery can be classified according to what degree the design takes into account the nature of the base material and by the relationship of stitch placement to the fabric. The main categories are free or surface embroidery, counted embroidery, and needlepoint or canvas work. Embroidery was an important art in the Medieval Islamic world and in Azerbaijan, too. The article dedicated to the medieval embroidery of Azerbaijan. It was given some information about this part of weaving craft. Key words: weaving, embroidery, textile, archaeology, ethnography

Measurements of total fat depth and depth to the interface between the second and third fat layers were made on live pigs just prior to slaughter and on their hot and cold carcasses. The data were analyzed to predict the changes that would take place in these measures of fat depth during slaughter and carcass cooling. A statistical interaction was detected between slaughter weight and the animal/carcass state at the time of measurement for the total fat measurement only. This suggests that measurements taken to the interface of the second and third fat layers will exhibit a more consistent relationship between live animal and carcass values. Key words: Swine, ultrasonic probes, slaughter weight, carcass fat

Taxol drugs can be extracted from various species of the taxaceae family. It is an alkaloid (metabolic product) used for the treatment of various types of cancer. Since taxol is a metabolic product, multiple aspects such as edaphic, biochemical, topographic factors need to be assessed in determining the variation in Taxol Content (TC). In this study, both sensor-based hyperspectral reflectance data and absorption-based indices were tested together for the development of an advanced statistical unfolding approach to understand the influencing factors for TC in high altitude Himalayan region. Seriation analysis based on permutation matrix was applied with complete linkage and a multi-fragment heuristic scaling rule along with the common techniques such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and correlation to understand the relationship of TC with various factors. This study also tested the newly developed taxol indices to rule out the possibility of overlapping of TC determining bands with the foliar pigment’s wavelengths in the visible region. The result implies that T. wallichiana with a high TC is found more in its natural habitat of deep forest, relating it indirectly to elevation in the case of the montane ecosystem. Taxol is the most varying parameter among the measured variables, followed by hyperspectral Taxol content (TC) indices such as TC 2, TC 5, and carotenoids, which suggests that the indices are well versed to capture variations in TC with elevation.

Purpose. The aim of the article is generalization of theoretical provisions on the nature, level and quality of trade services to consumers, identification of the content relationship between them and the role in meeting market demands of the population. Methodology of research. The following research methods were used to achieve this goal: theoretical analysis, abstract and logical – to reveal the essence of trade services, its level and quality; interpretations and comparisons – to determine the relationship and interaction of the concepts of “level” and “quality” of trade services; graphical – to visualize the classification of indicators for assessing the quality of trade services. Findings. It is established that trade service in modern conditions together with quality of the goods offered to consumers is an element of maintenance of competitive advantages of the trading enterprises. This is due to the growing demands of consumers not only to the consumer characteristics of goods, but also related to their sale of trade services. It is substantiated that the concepts of “level of trade service” and “quality of trade service” are not identical concepts. The first of them reflects a set of elements of providing consumers with a variety of services to create a comfortable environment for the purchase of goods and reflects the situation “present or absent” a specific element of trade services. The second is the degree of compliance of the level of trade service with the expectations and needs of consumers, which can be quantified. Originality. The substantiation of the essence, content and correlation of the concepts “the level of trade service” and “quality of trade service”, their influence on the competitiveness of trade enterprises was further developed. Practical value. Substantiated research results can be used by commercial enterprises to assess the effectiveness of their activities in terms of ensuring a higher level and quality of trade services on the basis of these elements and indicators. Key words: trade enterprise, trade service, level of trade service, quality of trade service, competition.

In the first volume of Raymond E. Brown’s magisterial three-volume commentary on the Gospel According to John, all of the major Johannine questions—of authorship, composition, dating, the relationship of John to the Synoptics (Mark, Matthew, and Luke)—are discussed. The important theories of modern biblical scholarship concerning John are weighed against the evidence given in the text and against prevailing biblical research. In sum, what is attempted is a synthesis of the major scholarly insights that bear on the Fourth Gospel. The translation—as Father Brown states at the outset—strives not for any formal beauty but rather for an accurate and contemporary version: “the simple, everyday Greek of the Gospel has been rendered into the ordinary American English of today.” The result is a translation that will strike the reader with uncommon immediacy. Father Brown also analyzes, in the appendixes, the meaning, use, and frequency of certain key words and phrases that occur in John, and examines the differences between the Johannine and Synoptic treatments of the miracle stories. The chapters of the Gospel translated here in Volume 29 (1–12) comprise the Prologue, which opens with the famous “In the beginning was the Word,” and the Book of Signs, an account of the miracles of Jesus and of his ministry.

Chlorophyll levels in rumen contents from the dorsal and ventral sac were examined before alfalfa ingestion to determine the relationship of chloroplast particles to the onset of pasture bloat in cattle. Chlorophyll concentrations were significantly higher in cattle that subsequently bloated than in those that did not. The higher levels were observed in both the liquid and solid phases of rumen contents from cattle predisposed to bloat but the liquid phase showed a greater increase. Chlorophyll levels were uniformly distributed in the rumen with little or no difference between samples obtained from the ventral and dorsal sacs. In agreement with previous results, animals predisposed to bloat showed higher rates of gas production and greater buoyancy of particulate matter in prefeeding rumen fluid. The results suggest that chloroplast particles in the rumen have a slower rate of clearance in bloating animals than in nonbloating ones. Key words: Bloat, alfalfa, cattle, rumen, chlorophyll, chloroplast particles

Thousands of non-Japanese nationals work as assistant language teachers (ALTs) in schools throughout Japan. To better understand ALTs’ teaching contexts and motivations, the researcher created a corpus of online discourse about ALTs and used corpus software to identify and analyse key words in context. He also asked questions from critical discourse analysis to examine the relationship of these key words to ideology and power. The findings were that while the discourse often described poor employment conditions and problems for ALTs working in Japanese schools, the discourse itself may also be contributing to the reproduction of these conditions. This is because it seemed to both stigmatise ALTs as fundamentally unprofessional and suggest that ALT positions can be a step towards other types of employment in Japan. Such discourse may encourage people to become ALTs and tolerate poor conditions in the short-term instead of engaging in collective actions to make long-term improvements.
