Cymodocea rotundata  merupakan salah satu jenis lamun yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri. Senyawa bioaktif yang bersifat sebagai antibakteri adalah fenol, flavonoid dan tanin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan lama inkubasi dan konsentrasi ekstrak lamun C. rotundata yang berbeda terhadap aktivitas antibakteri S. aureus dan E. Coli. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu experimental laboratories dengan menggunakan rancangan dasar penelitian Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan pola faktorial, pola terbagi oleh faktor lama inkubasi bakteri (24 jam, 48 jam dan 72 jam) dan perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak lamun (5%, 10% dan 15%). Data dianalisis menggunakan SIDIK RAGAM dan dilakukan analisis lanjut Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ), apabila terdapat perbedaan pada perlakuan. Ekstrak lamun C. rotundata efektif sebagai antibakteri dengan kategori sedang yaitu zona hambat berkisar antara 5-10 mm. Konsentrasi optimum untuk menghambat S.aureus dan E.coli adalah 15% dengan lama inkubasi 48 jam dengan zona hambat yang dihasilkan masing-masing sebesar 6, 123 mm. Dan 5, 833 mm.Cymodocea rotundata is a type of seagrass that has a potential as an antibacterial. Bioactive compounds which act as such as antibacterial phenols, flavonoids and tannins. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different concentration and time of incubation  of seagrass C.rotundata as antibacterial against  S. aureus and E. coli. The method used was experimental laboratories using the basic design of the study completely randomized design (CRD) with factorial pattern (2 factor). The first factor were different concentration (5%, 10% and 15% ) and second factor were time of incubations (24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours). Data were analyzed using ANOVA and conducted a further test Honestly Significant Difference (HSD), if treatment gave significant effect. C. rotundata extracts had antibacterial activity with medium category which inhibition zone ranges from 5-10 mm. The optimum concentration for inhibiting S. aureus and e. coli were 15% with incubation time of 48 hours resulting inhibition zone 6,123 mm and 5,833 respectively.

The problem of resistance is increasing along with the need for antimicrobials as an alternative in overcoming resistance problems. One solution is to utilize the content of secondary metabolite compounds in rhizome plants such as ginger. The content of compounds that are usually the most dominant in ginger such as essential oils, flavonoids, terpenoids and phenols. This study aims to determine the effect of ginger rhizome extract as an antibacterial on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in vitro. This study was a laboratory experimental study with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 7 treatments with 3 replications. The results showed that the ethanol extract of ginger rhizome had antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli. At concentrations of 20%, 40% and 80% which are more effective in inhibiting the growth of these two bacteria. The higher the extract concentration level, the larger the diameter of the inhibition zone from bacterial growth. This inhibition of bacterial growth is thought to have an effect on the content of the ginger root.   Keywords: Ginger rhizome, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, antibacterial ABSTRAK   Permasalahan tentang resistensi semakin meningkat seiring dengan kebutuhan antimikroba sebagai alternatif dalam mengatasi masalah resistensi. Salah satu solusinya yaitu dengan memanfaatkan kandungan dari senyawa metabolit sekunder pada tanaman rimpang-rimpangan seperti rimpang jahe. Kandungan senyawa yang biasanya paling dominan pada jahe seperti minyak atsiri, flavonoid, terpenoid dan fenol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari ekstrak rimpang jahe sebagai antbakteri terhadap pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli secara in vitro. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 7 perlakuan dengan 3 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa ekstrak etanol rimpang jahe memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap S. Aureus dan E. coli. Pada konsenrasi 20%, 40% dan 80% yang lebih efktif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan kedua bakteri tersebut. Semakin tinggi tingkatan konsentrasi ekstrak maka diameter zona hambat dari pertumbuhan bakteri juga semakin besar. Terhambatnya pertumbuhan bakteri ini diduga adanya pengaruh dari kandungan pada rimpang jahe.   Kata Kunci: Rimpang Jahe, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, antibakteri

Background: Bengal Almond leaves (Terminalia catappa L.) contain alkaloids, saponins, tannins, polyphenols, quinones, flavonoids and triterpenoids that can function as antibacterial.Objectives: This research was conducted to determine the effect of maceration time of red ketapang leaves (Terminalia catappa L.) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Methods: This study was experimental using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments, that P0 (aquades), P1 (red ketapang leaf extract with 1 day maceration time), P2 (2 days maceration) P3 (3 days maceration) , P4 (4 days maceration) and P5 (5 days maceration) with 4 replications.Results: Anova test showed that macerated red ketapang leaf extract significantly affected the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli (p= 0.000). Duncan's further test showed that the largest inhibition zone diameter in Staphylococcus aureus was formed by P2 (2 days maceration time) which was 18.62 mm and there was no significant difference between treatments. Meanwhile, the largest inhibition zone diameter against Escherichia coli was formed by P1 (1 day maceration time) which was 20.25 mm and there was a significant difference between treatments. Conclusion: Ketapang red leaf extract with different maceration times can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

Bacterial Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus ATCCis a normal flora bacteria that naturally exist human body. This bacteria may by pathogenic if it exceeds acertain limits. To prevent the disease caused, need to be overcome by using herbal ingredients one of them is juwet leaves (Syzygiumcumini).The purpose of the study was to determine wheter the extract of juwet leaf (S. cumini) can inhibited the growth of E. coli and S. aureus ATCC and to know compounds contained in juwet leaf extract (S. cumini). This research used diffusion wells methodwith 6 treatments and 4 replications. Date analysis using completely randomized design (CRD) with using ANOVA variance analysis. If the date obtained has a real difference test level at the 5% (P? 0,5) that continue with Duncan test. Concentration of the extract tested was 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 25% and 50%. Juwet leaf extract is able to inhibited the growth of E. coli and S. aureus ATCC which is shown by the formation of clear zone. Concentration extract leaf which is effective to inhibit E. coli and S. aureus ATCC is the concentration 50% (18,9 mm) for E. coli and (16,5 mm) for S. aureus ATCC. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas bakteri patogen dengan memakai nanopartikel kitosan sebagai antibakteri yang dibuat dalam empat konsentrasi (0,5%, 1%, 1,5% dan 2%) serta penggunaan kontrol asam asetat 1%, ciprofloxacin dan air steril sebagai pembanding. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode gelasi ionik untuk pembuatan nanopartikel kitosan dan difusi agar untuk pengujian antibakteri. Data dianalisis dengan One Way Anova yang dilanjutkan dengan metode BNT (Beda Nyata Terkecil). Hasil penelitian diperoleh penghambatan pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus dan E. coli tertinggi pada konsentrasi 0,5%, dengan diameter zona hambat hari pertama sampai hari ketiga 12,31 mm, 9,98 mm, dan 20,46 mm pada S. aureus dan 15,88 mm, 18,71 mm, dan 20,43 mm pada E. coli, kategori kuat, dan bersifat bakteriostatik dan penghambatan terendah pada konsentrasi 2% dengan diameter zona hambat pada S. aureus yaitu 5,56 mm, 5,50 mm, dan 5,40 mm, dan pada E. coli yaitu 5,93 mm, 9,64 mm, dan 12,58 mm, kategori sedang, dan bersifat bakteriostatik. The research method used is the ionic gelation method for the manufacture of chitosan nanoparticles and agar diffusion for antibacterial testing. Abstract Calcium oxide (CaO) can be formed from the calcination process of calcium carbonate or CaCO3. One of the ingredients that contain quite a lot of CaCO3 compounds is clam shells. Shellfish shells can be an alternative for making natural antibacterials. Calcination was carried out at 1000°C for 6 hours. The bacteria tested were Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli which are pathogenic bacteria. The concentration of each CaO powder is 3.5% with a size of 150 mesh. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial effect of CaO from three different shells, namely blood clams, green clams and scallops and to determine the third antibacterial effect of mussels. The research method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor influencing the antibacterial activity of CaO three times. Parametric data were analysed using ANOVA and Honest Significant Difference (HSD). The research treatment was the use of three different shells, namely blood, scallops and green mussels with tetracycline as control. Parameters observed were pH, calcium, chemical composition, and activity. The pH value of CaO powder has an average of 12.47. The levels of CaO produced were 99.43% in blood clams, 99.62% in green mussels and 98.4% in scallops. The diameter of the inhibition zone of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria for each clam shell was 15.22 ± 0.66 mm, green mussel 13.7 ± 0.26 mm and scallop 14.9 ± 0.25 mm. The diameter of the inhibition zone of Escherichia coli bacteria produced was 12.2 ± 0.36 mm blood clams, 12.5 ± 0.3 mm green mussels and 13.7 ± 0.2 mm scallops.

Edible film merupakan suatu lapisan tipis yang dapat melindungi bahan pangan untuk menjaga kualitas produk. Bawang putih mengandung senyawa allin yang merupakan senyawa antibakteri jika ditambahkan pada edible film karagenan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ekstrak bawang putih sebagai antibakteri dan karakteristik edible film karagenan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan bersifat eksperimental laboratories dengan rancangan percobaan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan parameter uji konsentrasi ekstrak bawang putih yang berbeda. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dan dilakukan uji lanjut Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak bawang putih berpengaruh terhadap aktivitas antibakteri dan karakteristik edible film karagenan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari perlakuan penambahan 7,5% ekstrak bawang putih sebagai antibakteri dapat dilihat zona hambatnya terhadap bakteri S. aureus sebesar: 3,00±0,100  mm dan bakteri E. coli: 2,18±0,07 mm sedangkan nilai karakteristik ketebalan: 0,17±0,003 mm, laju transmisi uap air: 6,49±0,42 g/m2/jam, kuat tarik: 13,88±0,29 MPa, persen pemanjangan: 14,75±0,09%. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak bawang putih pada edible film karagenan memberikan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap aktivitas antibakteri dan karakteristik edible film karagenan. Edible film is a thin layer which able to protect the food and keep its quality.Garlic contains Allin compound which worked as antibacterial if added into carrageenan edible film. This study aimed to determine the effect of garlic extract addition as antibacterial and the characteristic of carrageenan edible film. The method was experimental laboratories with Completely Randomized Design with different concentration of garlic extract as the testing parameters. Data were analyzed using ANOVA then tested using Honestly Significance Difference (HSD) to determine the significance value of the sample. The result showed that the garlic extract was significant difference toward the antibacterial activities and the characteristic of carrageenan edible film. The result obtained from 7.5% garlic extract addition as antibacterial was the inhibition zone against S. aureus and E. coli of 3.00±0.100 mm and 2.18±0.07 mm; respectively. The other parameters such as thickness 0.17±0.003 mm, the water vapor transmission rate 6.49±0.42 g/m2/hour, the tensile strength 13.88±0.29 MPa, and the percent elongation 14.75±0.09%. The result indicated that the addition of garlic extract was significant difference (P<0,05) toward the antibacterial activities and characteristic of carrageenan edible film.

The research objective was determine the effect of various growth media and growmore fertilizer on the acclimatization of Dendrobium orchids. study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) Factorial consisting of 2 factors, the first is (M) of growing media which consists of 3 levels, namely: M1 (medium fern root), M2 (wood charcoal medium), M3 (coir media coconut) and the second is (G) growmore fertilizer which consists of 4 levels, namely: G0 (without Growmore fertilizer), G1 (Growmore fertilizer 2 g / liter), G2 (fertilizer Growmore 4 g / liter), G3 (Growmore fertilizer 6 g / liter). Determine the growth of orchid plants, observations were made with the following parameters Growth Percentage (%), Plant Height (cm), Number of leaves (strands), and Number of tillers (stems). Data obtained were analyzed statistically, then continued with the Honestly Significant Difference Test (BNJ) at the level of 5%. The results showed that the single treatment of the use of growing media did not have a significant effect on the parameters of observation of growth percentage (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), and number of tillers (stems). The growth of growmore fertilizer also did not show a significant effect on the parameters of observation of growth percentage (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), and number of tillers (stems). Interaction of the use of various growth media and growmore fertilizer did not show a significant effect on the percentage of growth (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), and number of tillers (stems).

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter level waste silage mixed vegetables and Gliricidia leaves were tested in vitro. This study used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. Each of these treatments is R0 (Gliricidia leaves 100%), R1 (Gliricidia leaves 70% + 30% silage vegetable waste), and R2 (Gliricidia leaves 40% + 60% silage vegetable waste). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and further testing using the test Honestly Significant Difference (HSD). The results of ANOVA showed that the mixture of vegetable waste silage was highly significant (p <0.05) on dry matter digestibility and significantly (p <0.05) on the digestibility of organic matter. It can be concluded that the mixed of vegetable waste silage and Gliricidia leaves can improved digestibility of dry matter and organic matter, treatment of 40% and 60% Gliricidia leaves plus waste vegetable produce silage dry matter digestibility and percentage of organic matter is best (72,24% and 68,19%).Keyword: Silage vegetable waste, gliricidia leaves, dry and organic matter digestibilityABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kecenaan bahan kering dan bahan organik tingkat campuran silase sampah sayur dan daun gamal yang diuji secara in vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Masing-masing perlakuan tersebut ialah R0 (daun gamal 100%), R1 (daun gamal 70% + silase sampah sayur 30%), dan R2 (daun gamal 40% + silase sampah sayur 60%). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan uji lanjut menggunakan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Hasil analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa campuran silase sampah sayur berpengaruh sangat nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kecernaan bahan organik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan campuran silase sampah sayur dan daun gamal dapat meningkatkan kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik, perlakuan 40% daun gamal dan 60% silase sampah sayur menghasilkan persentase kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik yang terbaik yaitu (72,24% dan 68,19%).Kata kunci : Silase sampah sayur, daun gamal, kecernaan bahan kering, dan bahan organik.

The antibacterial activity of functionalized zeolite NaY (CBV100) with different concentrations of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) (0.01, 0.05, 0.20 and 0.40 M) was studied against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 (Gram positive) and Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 (Gram negative) through disc diffusion technique (DDT). The characterization of functionalized zeolite NaY with fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy indicated the attachment of APTES on zeolite NaY. Through DDT, the inhibition zone of functionalized zeolite NaY increased proportionally to the amount of the amine-functional group attached onto zeolite NaY. Functionalized zeolite NaY showed higher antibacterial activity against Gram-positive compared to Gram-negative bacteria. It can be concluded from this study that amine-functionalized zeolite NaY shows evidence of antibacterial activities.
