RFID-based solutions are essential inventory management tools, supplying more information than the standard barcode that help eliminate the potential for inventory stock-outs and reducing theft-based inventory shrinkage. A relatively detailed discussion of these techniques is included in this chapter by addressing some of the many concerns of inventory shrinkage. As is evident from the empirical section of this chapter, although RFID may be perceived as a cutting-edge business solution, RFID systems and its implementations still prove to be a difficult process to implement and achieve. Many companies have avoided the idea of introducing RFID systems, possibly due to being overwhelmed with the new technologies. However, its impacts on reducing inventory shrinkage are fairly clear and decisive.

Background: To conduct economic analysis in tertiary care hospital with a view to identify the categories of drugs needing stringent management control. Methods: The annual consumption and expenditure data is obtained from the drug store of government general hospital, Vijayawada, for the period of April 2015 to March 2016. ABC-VED analysis of the drugs are done based on cost and criticality criteria respectively. ABC-VED matrix analysis was done to classify drugs into category I, II, III.Results: The total annual drug expenditure incurred on 299 drug items for the year 2015-2016 was found to be Rs:4,47,04,446. On ABC analysis, 4%, 9.36%, 86.64% of drugs were found to be Always, Better, and Control category items respectively, amounting to 68.92%, 20.05%, 11.03% of annual drug expenditure. VED analysis showed that 32.10%, 45.5%, 22.4% of drug items were Vital, Essential, and Desirable category items respectively, amounting to 35.3%, 37.1%, 27.6% of annual drug expenditure respectively. By ABC-VED matrix analysis, 34.11%, 46.49%, 19.4% of drug items were found to be category I (high stringent), II (medium stringent), III (low stringent) respectively, amounting to 80.76%, 17.46%, 1.77% of annual drug expenditure respectively. Conclusions: The study identified 34.11% of drug items belonging to category I which require high priority monitoring. Inventory management tools must be routinely used for the better control and judicious use of the resources.

Ferramentas de Gestão STOCK MANAGEMENT TO CONTROL RESOURCES: PLAN PROPOSITION FOR A FUNERAL URN FACTORY IN VITÓRIA DA CONQUISTA - BA Abstract: Material management is one of the fundamental factors that help in the competitiveness of organizations. This management can bring great benefits related to lower costs and increased profits. This study aims to analyze and propose an inventory management plan in a funerary urns factory in Vitória da Conquista-BA. Through a descriptive research with quantitative and qualitative aspects, indicators were created and an interview was conducted to understand the consequences of the lack of material management for the organization. As a result, it was found that there were purchases based on common sense, which generated excesses of certain products and shortages of others, thus harming the company's productive and financial operations. With this, the inventory management tools assist in decision making, both of purchase and maintenance of the analyzed materials, in order to identify the model's functionality and its importance for inventory management in the reduction of failures in supply methods. Abstract Inventory management’s fundamental problem starts with maintaining equilibrium among the operating efficiency, cost of investment, and other allied costs with extensive inventories to keep the actual conflicts at the minimum while optimizing the inventory holding levels. But, inventory management practices have not been well exploited in various manufacturing industries yet. In this study, inventory management tools, i.e., ABC and VED analysis, have been applied in the manufacturing industry, considering 146 items as raw material for an assembly. A total of 15 items under ‘AV’ class have been identified that consume 82.05 % of the total cost, and these items need strict control and frequent ordering. Sigma level of suppliers is also calculated, which comes out to be 2.36, and it must be improved to reduce the overall inventory cost.

It has been widely accepted that the assessment of balance after concussion plays a large role in determining deficit. Qualitative balance assessments have been an established piece of the post-injury assessment as a clinical behavioral marker of concussion for many years. Recently more specific guidelines outlining the role of balance evaluation in concussion identification and management have been developed as part of concussion management tools. As part of the ongoing development of concussions protocols, quantitative assessment of balance function following concussion has also been identified to have an important role. Frequently imbalance and dizziness reported following concussion is assumed to be associated with post-concussion syndrome (PCS). While imbalance and dizziness are common complaints in PCS, they can also be a sign of additional underlying pathology. In cases of specific dizziness symptoms or limited balance recovery beyond the initial post-concussive period, a quantitative vestibular assessment may also be needed. Electronystagmography and videonystagmography (ENG/VNG), rotary chair testing (RCT), and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) have all been identified as valid assessment tools for vestibular dysfunction following traumatic brain injury (TBI). The assessment of balance and dizziness following sports-related concussions is an integral piece of the puzzle for removal from play, assessment of severity, and management.
