At the Annual Meeting of the American Pediatric Society, held on May 4, 1949, in the Marlborough-Blenheim Hotel, Atlantic City, N.J., the following members were elected officers of the Society for the year 1949-1950: President—Philip C. Jeans, Iowa City Vice President—Katharine Dodd, Cincinnati Secretary-Treasurer—Henry G. Poncher, Chicago Recorder and Editor—Stewart H. Clifford, Boston Because of Dr. Dunham's resignation from the Council and Dr. Lyttle's decease, in addition to the regular new members, three members were appointed to the Council this year: George M. Guest, Cincinnati; William L. Bradford, Rochester, N.Y.; Harry H. Gordon, Denver.

The American Pediatric Society held its 63rd annual meeting on May 6-8, 1953. at the Hotel Traymore, Atlantic City. Spring Meetings of National Societies: The Society for Pediatric Research will hold its annual meeting in Atlantic City on May 3 and 4, 1968. The headquarters for this meeting will be the Seaside Hotel. Tile plenary sessions will be in the Steel Pier. The meeting is open to all interested physicians. Registration may be accomplished at the Seaside Hotel at the time of the meeting. This meeting will be preceded by that of the American Pediatric Society on May 1 and 2 at the same location.

Bronx Pediatric Society The Bronx Pediatric Society will meet on Wednesday, December 14, 1960 at 8:30 pm at the Morrisania, Bronx. Dr. Edmund P. Fowler of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, will present the James Harkins Memorial Lecture, Problems in Pediatric Otobogy. American Psychosomatic Society The American Psychosomatic Society will hold its 18th Annual Meeting at Chalfonte-Haddon Hall in Atlantic City on April 28, 29, and 30, 1961. The program committee would like to receive titles and abstracts of papers for consideration.

The University of Arkansas announces the acceptance of a gift of $500,000 from the William Buchanan Foundation of Texarkana, Ark., to the Department of Pediatrics of the School of Medicine principally to construct an additional 100 pediatric beds in the new University Hospital. This will be known as the William Buchanan Pavilion for Children. Construction will probably start before the end of 1950. The following members were elected officers by the American Pediatric Society at its Annual Meeting at French Lick Springs, Ind., on May 8-10, 1950: President, Dr. Bronson Crothers; Vice President, Dr. Stanley Gibson; Secretary-Treasurer, Dr. Henry G. Poncher, 1819 W. Polk St., Chicago 12; Recorder and Editor, Dr. Stewart Clifford.

The next meeting of the Society for Pediatric Research will be held on May 2 and 3, 1951, at the Traymore Hotel, Atlantic City, Dr. Robert Ward, Secretary. Dr. Bertram R. Girdany, formerly of Babies Hospital in New York, has joined the Pediatric Staff of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh as Physician-in-charge of the X-ray Department.
