ABSTRACT: The chemical analysis of flowers has been studied for some crops. In coffee trees, the flower tissue analysis could anticipate the nutritional diagnosis. This study aimed to: (i) compare the mineral composition of coffee flowers and leaves; and to (ii) generate reference values for nutritional diagnosis of coffee trees, based on flower and leaf analysis. Nutrient content of flowers and leaves and coffee productivity were evaluated in 26 commercial farms located in Manhuaçu, MG, Brazil throughout three years. The critical nutrient content range in flowers are respectively: 2.78 - 3.17, 0.23 - 0.28, 2.80 - 3.12, 0.30 - 0.37, 0.24 - 0.30, 0.15 - 0.18 dag kg-1 of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and S; and 17 - 21, 12 - 18, 52 - 80, 26 - 43, and 28 - 48 mg kg-1 of Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe, and B. For leaves, the critical nutrient ranges are respectively: 2.63 - 2.86, 0.13 - 0.14, 2.13 - 2.33, 1.04 - 1.22, 0.27 - 0.33, 0.15 - 0.18 dag kg-1 of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and S; and 9 - 14, 15 - 23, 80 - 115, 99 - 148, and 31 - 37 mg kg-1 of Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe, and B. The nutritional diagnosis of coffee trees for N, P, Ca, Fe, Cu, and Mn can be anticipated using flower analysis.

The most consumed part of the plants is the leaf part so that the fertilizer provided should contain high nitrogen (N). The nature of the N fertilizer is volatile and when the rainy season there can be washing.  When plants deficienci nutrients shows symtoms of yellowing leaves so that the application of N fertilizer to the plant must remain unfulfilled.  Azolla is a usable alternative.  Azolla has a high N nutrient content because it is symbiotic with anabaena in binding to free nitrogen in the air.             The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical composition (pH,N,P,K) Azolla mycrophylla.  The experiment was conducted experimentally with the first stage of composting azolla after it was done chemical analysis in the laboratory.  The result of this research can be concluded that chemical analysis of Azolla mycrophylla cpmpost is as follows :pH 7,17, N 2,57%, P 0,34%, K 0,03%.

This paper focuses on the production technology of late nineteenth-century tiles from the Ettehadieh House Complex in Tehran, Iran. It makes use of the opportunity to provide for the first time the results of chemical and microstructural analyses of late nineteenth-century tiles selected directly from context and with known provenance. The paper integrates the results of chemical study of the Ettehadieh tiles with other available technological information on nineteenth-century Persian tiles, including chemical analyses of signed tiles and samples of pigments, as well as the study of the treatise of a certain Persian potter, ‘Ali Mohammad Isfahani, to suggest processes of materials procurement and manufacture. These processes are used as evidence to discuss trade and technological interactions between Iran and Europe in the nineteenth century.

SummaryA glass-bearing dolerite, which consists of orthopyroxene phenocrysts (γ 1·689, α 1·678, β 1·680, 2Vα 81°, S.G. 3·35) and a glassy mesostasis (n 1·568, S.G. 3·25), is described petrologically. Three new chemical analyses are given. From the petrological and chemical data it can be concluded that the orthopyroxene formed under intratelluric conditions and probably under high pressure. According to the recalculated chemical analysis of the orthopyroxene 0·22 Al3+ is in the Y position and much less Al3+ in the Z position. The chemical analysis of the residual glass is compared with similar residual glasses, and it shows that iron enrichment characterizes the earlier stages of crystallization differentiation, whereas the later stages are marked by an increase in Si4+, K+, and Na+.

1. Attention is drawn to the remarkable dissimilarity between the cacao and the grapefruit tree in their nutrient requirements, indicating that grapefruit is calcicolous in physiological habit. This conclusion is mainly based on a consideration of the results of chemical analysis of representative leaf material produced by trees grown on soil of known chemical and physical characteristics, under the same climatic conditions in Trinidad.2. The nutrient relationships that obtain between the cacao and the grapefruit tree respectively and the soil in which they are growing have been gauged by means of chemical analysis of representative leaf material.3. For this purpose, leaf material was obtained from trees growing on the differently manured plots of two large-scale field experiments in Trinidad.

Leaf rust disease caused by Hemileia vastatrix fungus may become an important issue on highland coffee (Coffea arabica) especially related to the progressive increase in terms of global temperature. A research aimed at evaluating the mineral composition of some rusted coffee leaves from a single clone S 795 was carried out in Andungsari Experimental Station, Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute. A single block experiment was situated at 1451 m asl. The intensity of rust spot in the leaves were identified, and estimated to correspond with the score of 5 to 7 out of 10. The difference in the nutrient status between normal and rusted leaves were statistically evaluated by comparing the mean values using unpaired t-test. The leaf analysis shows an optimal range for potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and silicon (Si). Silicon distribution exhibits a high vari- ability with coefficient of variation (CV) around 30%, while K is slightly lower with CV less than 10%. Principal component analysis shows that Ca, Mg and K may have explained the most variation in the original variables as defined by PC1 (54.76%), PC2 (23.22%), and PC3 (14.01%). The rusted leaves are associated with Ca and Si while normal leaves are associated with K. A considerable high of K may explain for the depression of Ca in normal leaves which is, however, associated with an antagonism between these two minerals. The ratio of has a negative correlation with Ca, and may show a potential as an indicator for leaf mineral evaluation in the context of Hemileia vastatrix fungus infected coffee.

A study meant to evaluate the relationship between the presence of Oryctes rhinoceros to the oil palm in relation to the leaves’ nutrient content which is Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). Appropriate fertilization is one of the methods that can help to suppress the pests’ presence in the field. In general, insects’ pests are attracted to the plants that are supplied with excess supply of nutrient as it can help them to develop better in future as these nutrient play their roles in aiding through growths and insects’ fecundity. Data on nutrient status were collected were Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn). These data had been collected twice per month which were at the middle and at the end of each month. Four samples of leaves were taken from four sampling oil palm trees of each treatment. Leaves from ninth or seventeenth fronds were chosen as it is the best most ideal fronds to be used for leaf analysis to identify the nutrient content. The result of this study showed that Phosphorus (P) exerted a strong positive relationship with the presence of Oryctes rhinoceros in the oil palm while Potassium (K) showed a strong negative relationship between the two variables. Thus, developing awareness to the growers to this nutrients-balancing issue would be good for future agriculture in future as it is clear now that balanced nutrition is primordial to ensure availability of nutrients uptake by plants.
