ABSTRACT Purpose: To investigate the relationship between participation in decision making and social support at work with role performance at work, as well as the mediator role of work prosperity and the moderator role of self-efficacy. Originality/value: The study contributes to the enhancement of the monological net of the concept of prosperity at work, by testing a model that includes other rather neglected constructs as antecedents and consequents of prosperity at work, and by analyzing the role of a personal asset in these relationships, based on the demands-resources model (JD-R). Design/methodology/approach: This is an empirical study, with a quantitative approach of correlational nature, that tested seven hypotheses. The data were collected with self-report questionnaires, and analyzed with structural equation modelling. Findings: All hypotheses were corroborated and indicated that: participation in the decision making and social support have a positive impact on prosperity at work; prosperity at work has a mediation role in the relation between these variables and role performance at work; self-efficacy moderates the positive relations of participation at work and social support with prosperity at work, increasing these relations. The study has important implications for the literature in the field, contributing to the application of the model of prosperity at work to Brazilian samples. Organizations may benefit from these findings if the policies that enhance prosperity are implemented in the organizational environment, obtaining competitive advantage.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, people started teleworking intensively, which has led to some benefits in terms of economic continuity, but also some complaints. International teams of scholars have pointed out the new work-related challenges, underlining leaders’ role in successfully managing them. This study aimed at investigating the role of destructive leadership in the job demands–resources and recovery model during the Covid-19 pandemic. In detail, this study intended to assess (1) whether destructive leadership is positively associated with off-work-hours technology-assisted job demand (off-TAJD) and cognitive demands, as well as whether it decreases autonomy, (2) whether two demands—off-TAJD and cognitive demands—and two resources—social support and autonomy—are respectively negatively and positively related to recovery, and (3) whether recovery mediates the relationship between demands, resources, and exhaustion. A total of 716 French remote workers (61% were women) took part in this study. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. A multi-group structural equation model was used to test the hypotheses. The findings confirmed a significant association between destructive leadership, the two job demands, and autonomy; furthermore, all three variables mediated the relationship between destructive leadership and recovery. The findings showed the key role played by recovery as a mediator between, on one hand, off-TAJD, cognitive demands, autonomy, and social support, and, on the other hand, exhaustion. This study highlighted the role of destructive leadership, job resources, job demands, and recovery as determinants of exhaustion, illustrating their relationships in a sample of remote workers. Practical implications are discussed.

Background: Despite the awareness that regular exercise has a positive impact on maintaining health, patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) engage in markedly less exercise than do the general population. Weaimed to construct and test a structural equation model of exercise behavior in patients with RA based on selfdetermination theory and self-efficacy theory. Methods: Participants were 214 outpatients with RA at Chonnam National University Hospital located in the Gwangju City, South Korea from Mar to Apr 2018. A structured self-report questionnaire was used to assess autonomy support, autonomy, competence, relatedness, autonomous motivation, self-efficacy, and exercise behavior. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 program. Results: The structural model showed a good fitness with the data (χ2= 727.27, df = 392, P<0.001, TLI = 0.92, CFI = 0.93, RMSEA = 0.07, SRMR = 0.07). Autonomous motivation and self-efficacy had a significant effect on exercise behavior in patients with RA. This model explained 21.2% of the variance of exercise behavior in patients with RA. Conclusion: Self-efficiency and autonomous motivation should be promoted in order to strengthen the exercise behavior of patients with RA.

The current study examined whether perceived social support mediated the effects of loneliness and self-efficacy on well-being among students with or without a learning disability (LD). Participants included 834 elementary, middle, and high school students from Israel (29.6% students with LDs) who completed self-report questionnaires. The results of structural equation modeling indicate that social support mediates the indirect effects of age, gender, loneliness and self-efficacy on well-being. In addition, the results show differences between groups, as non-LD girls noted a higher self-efficacy and well-being than boys, and well-being had indirect effects in the non-LD group than in the LD group. These results indicate students with LDs have a unique social-emotional profile that affects their well-being. The study highlights the importance of enhancing self-efficacy and reducing loneliness in order to increase social support, thus predicting positive well-being. Effective and practical educational programs are needed for both groups across age and gender.

AbstractMany SMP students choose mayor because of their good marks. They are not interested in that field, they just follow what their friend chooses, follow their teacher recommendation, or follow their parent’s advice, but not doing career exploration in the first. This research intended to examine the role of career exploration behavior in mediating social support and career decision making self-efficacy. Data collected from a student in grades 8 and 9 (n= 142), with convenient sampling techniques. The measuring used in this study were Carrier Decision Making Self Efficacy-SF, Adolescent Social Support Scale, and Career Exploration Survey, that have been adapted to Bahasa. Regression analysis and Sobel test showed that career exploration behavior significantly mediating the relationship between social support and career decision making self-efficacy. Social support from a parent, teacher, and friend is a trigger to emerge the career exploration behavior, which finally forms the career decision making self-efficacy. Implications, limitations, and suggestions are discussed. Keywords: Career decision making self-efficacy; Career exploration behavior; Junior high school student; Social support AbstrakBanyak siswa SMP memilih jurusan karena nilainya memadai di bidang tersebut. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop and empirically test a model that examines the relationship between post-adoption self-efficacy, satisfaction, and loyalty in the usage of mobile shopping applications. Design/methodology/approach A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents who had used mobile shopping applications to make purchases. Data analysis was done using partial least square structural equation modelling. Findings The results show that self-efficacy and satisfaction have a positive impact on continuance intention; however, the same may not lead to advocacy. The results also show that some antecedents of self-efficacy and satisfaction at the post-adoption stage differ from the pre-adoption intention stage. Practical implications The findings of the study provide a better understanding of the factors likely to influence loyalty among customers using mobile shopping applications. The findings also provide valuable insights into the factors that e-retailers need to focus to build self-efficacy among their customers using mobile interface. Originality/value The contribution of the paper lies in eliciting the differences between customer choice model at the pre-adoption and post-adoption stage for mobile shopping. Furthermore, the study demonstrated the role of a cognitive factor of self-efficacy in loyalty at the post-adoption stage that is pre-dominantly researched with affective factor of satisfaction.

Abstract. This paper analyzes the relationship between self-efficacy, work support, family support, and life satisfaction and it also explores the mediating role of work-to-family enrichment and family-to-work enrichment. The participants (n = 568) were from different occupational groups including high technology organizations, hospitals, schools, factories, and government. The correlation analyses and structural equation modeling were performed to explore the relationship existing between the variables. It is found that there exists a positive relationship between self-efficacy, social support, and life satisfaction. Work family enrichment partially mediates the relationship between the studied antecedents and consequences. The work indicates that organizations need to consider ways to not only reduce conflict, but also increase enrichment, which will drive the main outcome variable of overall life satisfaction of the employees.

Purpose This study aims to identify the intentions of immigrant entrepreneurs to start new projects by investigating the role of influence of institutional support, social context, cultural intelligence, self-efficacy, optimizing personality traits and hierarchy legitimacy on intentions to start new ventures. In addition, the strength of the relationship for such factors and intentions to start new ventures was determined through the moderator role of easy access to venture capital. Design/methodology/approach To this end, this study complements the academic literature by integrating the structural equation modeling (SEM) and multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques. Thus, the MCDM (i.e. analytic hierarchy process and vlsekriterijumska optimizcija i kaompromisno resenje [VIKOR]) is an effective approach to solving the problem of complexity and evaluation (i.e. multiple evaluation criteria, important criteria and data variation). Hence, to complete the strategic guideline solution, this study uses a survey for collecting data from 202 immigrants in Malaysia, Pakistan, Nigeria and Singapore. Findings The results from SEM prove several critical factors of immigrants’ entrepreneurs. These factors of immigrants’ entrepreneurs can be vital for academics and host countries. By focusing on these aspects and by developing some personality traits (such as self-efficacy and optimal personality traits), these factors can contribute a good deal to increasing the capabilities of immigrant’s entrepreneurs toward entrepreneurial intentions. In the validation, the statistical objective method indicates that the immigrants' prioritizations in all countries are supported by the systematic ranking. Thus, entrepreneurial intentions for immigrants can pursue the order proven by the VIKOR results. Research limitations/implications This study has some significant practical and theoretical implications. Practically, the study findings will enable managers to develop strategies to support immigrants for entrepreneurial intentions to start new ventures. Originality/value The novelty of the context under given circumstances of global environment adds to the originality of this study. Several previous studies have also emphasized the need for this type of study in other contexts. The findings can call managers’ attention toward a critical issue of immigrants’ entrepreneurial intentions to start new ventures.

Knowledge about the role of empathy, emotional self-efficacy, and loneliness on early adolescents’ depressive symptoms is scarce. The main aims of the study were to investigate the following: (a) the role of empathy and emotional self-efficacy (additive and interactive) on loneliness and depressive symptoms, taking into account gender differences and (b) the possible mediating role of loneliness in the relationship between emotional predictors and depressive symptoms. Three hundred forty-eight Italian early adolescents (48% girls; mean age, 13; SD = 0.3) completed an anonymous self-report questionnaire at two time points (1 year apart). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze data. Results indicated the following: (a) high empathy and low emotional self-efficacy were related to higher subsequent loneliness and depressive symptoms; (b) emotional self-efficacy moderated the relationship between empathy and loneliness and, only for girls, between empathy and depressive symptoms; (c) no mediation role of loneliness between emotional predictors (empathy and emotional self-efficacy) and depressive symptoms was found. Results are discussed in relation to preventive interventions targeting early adolescents.
