The article considers the new approach of the Russian government in the sphere of foreign integration and cooperation with international organizations in the second half of the 1990s. Based on the analysis of factual and documentary proved data the reasons for the transfer of the country’s foreign policy into multi-vector direction and its diversification have been explained. The author’s evaluation of the attempts of Russia to integrate into multipolar world and the role of international cooperation in this process has been given.

The article forms the international experience of public administration of production and circulation of medicines in Ukraine. The role of international organizations in maintaining the health of the nation, increasing the level of labor productivity, as well as the quality and life expectancy of people is studied. The leaders of the European market of drug manufacturers have been identified. The international standard ISO 9001 and features of introduction of good manufacturing practice (GMP) are analyzed. The international cooperation for the regulatory bodies of the WHO member states is described in order to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of health care.

The issue of Human Rights features as a prominent agenda of the United Nations and its related international organizations. However, when it comes to precise formulation of a country’s foreign policy in bilateral or multilateral forums, the issues of trade and national security find priority over pressing human rights violations occurring within the countries engaged in the diplomatic dialogue. An often-employed reason behind such an approach is the need to respect sovereignty and non-interference of a country in diplomacy. This article aims at analysing the potential which diplomacy holds to pressurize recalcitrant regimes to respect human rights. In doing so, the article tries to explore the ambit of Human Rights Diplomacy and the relationship between agenda of politics and human rights.

How does status affect foreign policy outcomes? Scholars have long argued that status is a salient foreign policy driver and that states even fight for status, but there is no consensus on how to think about this relationship. I propose that unpacking the link between status and role in international relations can help scholars analyze how status shapes national security outcomes. I illustrate the usefulness of this framework on the processes leading to Australia’s intervention in the Solomon Islands. An analysis of speeches by Australia’s leaders reveals that concern for maintaining Australia’s status as the leader of the Pacific and the role of maintainer of regional order and security affected the decision to dispatch an intervention.

This chapter describes the role of federalism in Swiss foreign affairs. This role is threefold. First, the Cantons have a role through their general powers in policymaking in the Swiss constitutional system. Second, the Swiss Constitution expressly preserves a residual treaty-making capacity and autonomous foreign policy competence for the Cantons. Third, the Cantons have specific participation rights in the definition of Swiss foreign policy. In all these different roles, the principle of federalism in Swiss foreign affairs is closely connected to other main constitutional principles, especially to aspects of direct democracy and the popular referenda that are a major characteristic of the Swiss polity. Though idiosyncratic as a product of particular historical developments, it is worthwhile to compare Swiss federalism in foreign affairs to other federal systems. From such a comparative perspective, the chapter draws three interrelated conclusions. The first conclusion is that the inclusion of federalist principles into foreign affairs depends on foreign affairs being a formalized process on the international level through the conclusion of international agreements and work inside formal international organizations. The second conclusion is that the idiosyncratic Swiss aspect of specific participation rights of Cantons in foreign affairs may be one possible model in order to counterbalance developments such as increasing informal international decision- and lawmaking processes. The third conclusion is that there has to be a balance between the rights of the component parts in foreign affairs decisions by the federal government and their obligations to implement international obligations that result from these decisions.

The Northern sea route (NSR) is becoming an increasingly relevant area of interest for many countries. Most of the Arctic territories belong to Russia. These are strategic reserves of natural resources, as well as water areas, and the transport artery - the NSR. The development of the NSR, as well as international cooperation in its use, is a matter of national security.

The article examines such an important aspect of Russian foreign policy as peacekeeping. Russia has been participating in many activities to maintain and strengthen peace in the post-Soviet space and in other regions of our planet. This activity is successfully carried out in the formats of the UN, CIS, CSTO, OSCE, other international organizations and on a bilateral basis. The author notes that the role of peacekeeping is growing immeasurably in the context of attempts to revive the atmosphere of the Cold War, the ongoing arms race in the world, the build-up of nuclear missile potentials of a number of countries, and the intensifi cation of the forces of international terrorism represented by radical Islamist groups.

The effective establishment of interstate international cooperation is important both for development and for ensuring rights in the field of tourism. The adoption of interstate agreements is not the only condition. At the same time, it is important to apply them in practice and establish comprehensive relations with both states and international organizations to achieve this goal.
