The purpose of the Karanganyar Regency Regional Tourism Development Master Plan (RIPP) is to implement Sustainable Tourism Development (STD). Of the many concepts that are appropriate for achieving this goal, the concept of ecotourism is one of them. The growth of tourism activities in the Ngargoyoso district has accelerated. Local governments need to have instruments to help achieve STD goals in their areas. Studies related to the selection of suitable areas using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) based on ecotourism activities have been widely studied and applied in various regions of the world. This study aims to identify areas suitable for ecotourism as a basis for decision making for regional tourism development. The research approach is carried out by assessing expert opinion on the basis for determining policy using the AHP method. Then integrated with GIS techniques to be able to present the results of the assessment in the form of a map of the suitability of the location for ecotourism. The suitability classes in this study are divided into S1 (Very Suitable), S2 (Fairly Sufficient), S3 (Slightly Suited), and N (Not Sufficient) for the suitability of general ecotourism and S1 (Very Sufficient), S2 (Partially Sufficient) and N (Not suitable) for special ecotourism suitability. Also, this study conducted a clustering of special ecotourism (locally), namely Hiking, Tubing, and Camping. Cluster analysis is used to get a complete picture of the condition of the region to support making preliminary policy appropriately and quickly.

Abstract. Sustainable tourism must consider three aspects of sustainability, namely economic, social and environmental aspects. To support sustainable tourism development, the community's role in tourism development or Tourism Based Community (TBC) is one of the critical principles that must be fulfilled because it is the component closest to and tied to regional tourism. This research examines the community's role in Girsang Sipangan Bolon District, Simalungun Regency in the development of sustainable tourism. The study uses quantitative methods by collecting data through distributing questionnaires. The observations show that the participation of local communities related to sustainable tourism in Girsang Sipangan Bolon is classified as good with an overall average score of 3.8 out of 4.5 for several indicators of local community participation in sustainable tourism

This study intends to examine the authority of local governments to regulate regional policies on tourism development master plan. This paper examines the legal issues related to the basis of the authority from philosophical, sociological, and juridical aspects of the formation of policies regarding tourism development plans. This paper focuses on the target, scope, content, and direction of Regional Regulations concerning tourism development plans to establish legislation and prioritizing aspects of the tourism industry, marketing destinations, and culture of Bali Tourism.  It is a legal research that uses statutory, philosophical, theoretical, and conceptual approaches. The research resulted that the basis of authority for delegation of formation arrangements is regulated in the Law concerning Tourism, Government Regulation, and Regional Government Law related to the Master Plan of National Tourism Development. The basis of regional government authority in setting these policies is the enactment of local regulations of Bali Province, Badung Regency, Jembrana Regency, and Denpasar City concerning regional tourism development master plan. However, the mandatory obligations for regional government in determining tourism development master plan have not immediately been taken effect by the other regency governments in Bali Province.

Kerta Masa is a noble value that is passed down across generations and lives in Balinese society. Carrying the spirit of order, tranquility, togetherness, harmony, and prosperity, the concept of Kerta Masa can be applied more broadly as a basis for quality and sustainable tourism development policies in Bali Province, in which the tourism direction development policies currently tends to be quantity oriented. " The purpose of this study is to determine the tourism arrangements in Bali as stipulated in the Bali Provincial Regulation Number 10 year 2015 concerning the Bali Province Regional Tourism Development Master Plan for 2015-2029 and this research is expected to contribute to the evaluation of the Regional Regulation which elevates Kerta masa tourism as an alternative of tourism development policies in Bali. Normative legal research is a method used in writing this journal that analyzes tourism policies before and after the COVID-19 pandemic and raises Kerta Masa tourism as an alternative idea for Bali tourism development policies. The results showed that Bali tourism, which is currently quantity oriented, is very vulnerable so that "No Tourist High Risk" and in the future Kerta Masa Tourism are very potential in making Bali's tourism climate more qualified and other leading industries can grow optimally in realized "No Tourist Low Risk". Drawing on John Agnew’s (1987) theoretical framework for the analysis of place (location, locale and sense of place) and on Doreen Massey’s (1991) interpretation of Kilburn High Road (London), the contribution develops an analysis of the notion of place in the case study of Kilburn High Road by comparing the semantics emerging from Doreen Massey’s interpretation of Kilburn High Road in the late Nineties with those from a selection of noisy and unstructured volunteered geographic information collected from Flickr photos and Tweets harvested in 2014–2015. The comparison shows how sense of place is dynamic and changing over time and explores Kilburn High Road through the categories of location, locale and sense of place derived from the qualitative analysis of VGI content and annotations. The contribution shows how VGI can contribute to discovering the unique relationship between people and place which takes the form given by Doreen Massey to Kilburn High Road and then moves on to the many forms given by people experiencing Kilburn High Road through a photo, a Tweet or a simple narrative. Finally, the paper suggests that the analysis of VGI content can contribute to detect the relevant features of street life, from infrastructure to citizens’ perceptions, which should be taken into account for a more human-centered approach in planning or service management.

One-size-fits-all interventions that aim to change behavior are a missed opportunity to improve human health and well-being, as they do not target the different reasons that drive people’s choices and behaviors. Psycho-behavioral segmentation is an approach to uncover such differences and enable the design of targeted interventions, but is rarely implemented at scale in global development. In part, this may be due to the many choices program designers and data scientists face, and the lack of available guidance through the process. Effective segmentation encompasses conceptualization and selection of the dimensions to segment on, which often requires the design of suitable qualitative and quantitative primary research. The choice of algorithm and its parameters also profoundly shape the resulting output and how useful the results are in the field. Analytical outputs are not self-explanatory and need to be subjectively evaluated and described. Finally, segments can be prioritized and targeted with matching interventions via appropriate channels. Here, we provide an end-to-end overview of all the stages from planning, designing field-based research, analyzing, and implementing a psycho-behavioral segmentation solution. We illustrate the choices and critical steps along the way, and discuss a case study of segmentation for voluntary medical male circumcision that implemented the method described here. Though our examples mostly draw on health interventions in the developing world, the principles in this approach can be used in any context where understanding human heterogeneity in driving behavior change is valuable.

Tourism investments are concentrated in the southern region of Jordan (Petra and Aqaba). This chapter argues that if food tourism delivers its sustainable benefits, it could be a vehicle for regional tourism development by strengthening the regional food on offer so that deprived areas are regenerated. Villages in Ajloun are selected for the investigation as they are well-known for food production. These villagers have inherited the talent for preparing traditional Jordanian food. This study is the first scientific study conducted to compare two villages in Ajloun, namely Orjan village and Ibbin village for logic justifications: 1) Provide the best example illustrating the best practices of tour guides in Jordan who unconsciously apply the principles of alternative tourism that lead to a sustainable tourism development. 2) This chapter aims to identify many problematic issues such as whether tour guides apply the best practices that are the concrete reflection of sustainable tourism principles.
