This study aims to determine the effect of capital intensity, company characteristics, and disclosure of corporate social responsibility on tax avoidance with leverage as a moderating variable in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2015-2017. The sample in this study was taken by purposive sampling method in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2015-2017. The number of samples used was 82 companies. The method of analysis of this study is multiple linear regression using eviews 9. The results showed that the intensity of capital had a positive and significant effect on tax avoidance, the company's characteristics had a negative and significant effect on tax avoidance, the disclosure of corporate social responsibility had a positive effect and not significant impact on tax avoidance. Leverage is able to moderate the influence of capital intensity on tax avoidance, leverage is able to moderate the effect of corporate characteristics on tax avoidance while leverage is not a variable that is able to moderate the disclosure effect of corporate social responsibility on tax avoidance. Finally, the authors suggest that tax avoidance considerations can be used other than those used by researchers. For the calculation of capital intensity, company characteristics, and disclosure of CSR can use other proxy proxies other than those used by researchers. And for the next researcher, it is expected to be able to add variables related to the variables affected, and extend the research period.

This study aims to know and find empirical evidence about the effect of political connection, executive characters, and audit quality on tax avoidance practice in Indonesia. This research uses secondary data with database collection technique using annual report of the manufacturing companies that are listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) period 2013 – 2017. Using purposive sampling, this study obtained 51 companies which fulfill the criteria of 165 companies as total population, so the total observation for 5 years is 255 samples. The data examination in this study uses multiple regression analysis with data panel. Tax avoidance practice in this research proxied by Cash ETR. The results of this study indicate that variable political connection has significant positive effect on tax avoidance, which means that the average company uses their political connections to lower tax payments. Variable executive characters has no significant effect on tax avoidance, which means that the characters of executive not yet able to become a standard to determining tax avoidance practice. Variable audit quality indicated no significant effect on tax avoidance, which means KAP the big four who has a good quality hasn’t been able to conclude the company not doing tax avoidance practice.

Aim of this research is to determine the effect of accounting conservatism and tax avoidance on firm value. The type of data used in this study is secondary data in the form of annual reports of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2013-2016 period. The number of samples is 48 manufacturing companies. The data analysis technique used is regression analysis. The results of the study show that conservatism has a positive effect on firm value, tax avoidance has a negative effect on firm value. While simultaneously conservatism and tax avoidance have a positive effect on firm value. Thus this study supports that accounting conservatism has a role as a function of monitoring the company's investment policies and one way to maintain the value of the company in limiting losses that may arise from poorly performing investment decisions. The company that conducts tax avoidance (has a smaller effective tax rate) is an effort made by management to reduce the company's tax burden and is able to minimize expenditure for tax purposes so that management looks good in the eyes of shareholders.

ABSTRACT: Taxes are the main source of state revenue. The greater amount of tax revenue attainment can support the national economy. However, on the other hand, taxes are a burden that can reduce income for taxpayer. This encourage taxpayer to make every effort to reduce the tax burden from legal tax planning to illegal. Excessive tax planning will result to tax aggressiveness. This study aims to examine, analyse, and obtain empirical evidence about the effect of earnings management, proportion of independent commissioners, profitability, capital intensity, and liquidity to tax aggressiveness. This research is also to compare the result of prior researches. The population in this research is 144 manufacturing companies that listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2012 to 2016. Sample consist of 51 manufacturing companies, selected using one of nonprobability sampling method, which is purposive sampling type. The data type is secondary data which collected from IDX website. The statistical method used in this research is multiple regression analysis. These results indicates that earnings management and profitability have a significant influence to tax aggressiveness. While the proportion of independent commissioners, capital intensity, dan liquidity have no influence toward tax aggressiveness. But, if earnings management, proportion of independent commissioners, profitability, capital intensity, and liquidity simultantly tested with the control variable which are size and leverage the result show that there is significant association with the tax aggressiveness.

Keyword : Tax aggressiveness, earnings management, proportion of independent commissioners, profitability, capital intensity, liquidity, size, leverage.

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence of the effect of leverage and capital intensity on tax avoidance with the proportion of independent commissioners as moderating variable. The research population is manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2013-2017. The method of determining the sample used was purposive sampling and obtained 200 observations. Data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of the analysis show that leverage has a positive effect on tax avoidance. This means that the more debt the company uses to finance assets, the higher level of tax avoidance. Capital intensity has a negative effect on tax avoidance. This means that the more capital invested by the company in the form of fixed assets, the lower level of tax avoidance. The proportion of independent commissioners does not moderate the effect of leverage and capital intensity on tax avoidance.
