In this study, two operational methodologies to extract thinned woods were investigated in the Nasunogahara area, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Methodology one included manual extraction and light truck transportation. Methodology two included mini-forwarder forwarding and four-ton truck transportation. Furthermore, a newly introduced chipper was investigated. As a result, costs of manual extractions within 10 m and 20 m were JPY942/m3 and JPY1040/m3, respectively. On the other hand, the forwarding cost of the mini-forwarder was JPY499/m3, which was significantly lower than the cost of manual extractions. Transportation costs with light trucks and four-ton trucks were JPY7224/m3 and JPY1298/m3, respectively, with 28 km transportation distances. Chipping operation costs were JPY1036/m3 and JPY1160/m3 with three and two persons, respectively. Finally, the total costs of methodologies one and two from extraction within 20 m to chipping were estimated as JPY9300/m3 and JPY2833/m3, respectively, with 28 km transportation distances and three-person chipping operations (EUR1 = JPY126, as of 12 August 2020).

Bidirectional coupling systems for electricity and natural gas composed of gas units and power-to-gas (P2G) facilities improve the interactions between different energy systems. In this paper, a combined optimization planning method for an electricity-natural gas coupling system with P2G was studied. Firstly, the characteristics of the component model of the electricity-natural gas coupling system were analyzed. The optimization planning model for the electricity-natural gas coupling system was established with the goal of minimizing the sum of the annual investment costs and the annual operation costs. Based on the established model, the construction statuses for different types of units, power lines, and pipelines and the output distribution values for gas units and P2G stations were optimized. Then, the immune algorithm was proposed to solve the optimization planning model. Finally, an electricity-natural gas coupling system composed of a seven-node natural gas system and a nine-node power system was taken as an example to verify the rationality and effectiveness of the model under different scenarios.

The aim of this work is to demonstrate the need to develop more efficient means for radiological protection, making use of the latest automation and robotics technologies. A manipulator model has been developed that has technological differentials that can positively influence the performance and cost of remote manipulation. The built-in equipment has a Slave manipulator, developed without using semiconductor elements. They are housed in the control center, which is attached to the manipulator via umbilical cord, facilitating the equipment adaptation in hot cells and other working environments. The arrangement of the joints and the links, have similarities with the anatomy of the human arm, improving the instinctively of the operation. To demonstrate its technological feasibility, a prototype Master-Slave manipulator was designed, and built using three control programs, which were written exclusively for this work. It was also designed to reduce construction and operation costs, making it accessible to most areas. The results obtained with the prototype construction are shown to be promising, providing an incentive to continue the development of manipulators using similar technologies. The equipment, obtained satisfactory results in relation to the operability, being able to perform movement tasks of loads, as foreseen in the project.

This research examines the relationship between unconditional accounting conservatism and real earnings management in China’s corporations. Using the regression models, the real earnings management proxies are found by the abnormal cash flow of operations, the abnormal operation costs and the abnormal discretionary expenses and the aggregated measures. The research sheds light on the negative relationship between unconditional accounting conservatism and real earnings management after controlling internal control quality and audit risk. The results of these inferences remain the same after dealing with the robustness analysis and the endogeneity concerns.
