A total of (120) day old Bounty Fresh colored broiler chickens were carried out in a completely randomized design to evaluate the effect of different levels of oregano leaf meal (OLM) on the growth performance at a dietary levels of 0, 3 ,6 and 9% respectively.   Results showed significant in terms of cumulative feed consumption, gain weight and feed conversion ratio. Broilers given 6% of level of oregano (T3) had the heaviest body weight on the seven week of age with a mean 1955.25 grams while the lightest was those broilers without the supplementation of oregano leaf meal (T1) with a mean of 1743.75 grams. The inclusion of OLM as fed diet were the most efficient feed converter and therefore, has the potential to increase rapid growth and improve vitality and livability of colored broiler chicken. Insignificant result was obtained in terms of the percentage rate of growth, dressing percentage with and without giblets and feed conversion ratio as revealed by the analysis of variance. However, in terms of the income over feed and chick costs, Colored broiler chicken fed with 6% oregano leaf meal had the highest return of Php 88.89 and the lowest return was those broilers without oregano with a return of Php 50.47.The results suggest that OLM at 6% level can be safely used as feed ingredients to the broilers without any deleterious effect.

UTILIZATION  OF BANANA CORM (Musa paradisiaca L.) IN DIET ON BROILER CHICKENS PERFORMANCE. The research on the utilization of banana (Musa paradisiacaL.) corm in broiler diet aimed to determine its effect on the performance of broilers, namely the feed intake, weight gain, and feed conversion ratio. The birds used were 100 unsexed days old chicks. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The composition of the treatment as follows: R0 = 55% corn + 0% banana corm meal (BCM), R1 = 50% corn + 5% BCM, R2 = 45% corn + 10% BCM, R3 = 40% corn + 15% BCM. The result showed that the treatment had a significantly different effect on feedintake, body weight, and feed conversion ratio. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that banana corm can be used up to 10% in broiler chicken diet.

THE EFFECT OF FRESH MURBEI (Morus alba ) LEAF INCLUSION IN THE DIETS ON BROILER CHICKEN PERFORMANCE. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of inclusion of fresh Murbey leaf (Morus alba) substituting part of diets on broiler chicken performance. Sixty broiler chicken aged 3 weeks were used in the present study. The dietary treatments were in Completely Randomized Design arrangement with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments were fresh Murbey leaf (Morus alba) with several levels of inclusion in the diets    (R0 = 0%, R1 = 2%, R2 = 4%, dan  R3 = 6%). Parameters measured were: daily feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). All data was submitted to the ANOVA procedure for completely randomized design. Differences were considered significant at P < 0.05. Tukey's significant difference test was used to compare means. Research results showed that treatments gave a significant effect on parameters measured. The inclusion of fresh Murbey leaf   (Morus alba) of up to 6% in the diets significantly (P < 0.05) increased daily feed consumption, but significantly (P < 0.05) decreased daily gain, and significantly (P < 0.05) increased feed conversion ratio of brolier chicken in this experiment. It can be concluded that the inclusion of fresh Murbey leaf (Morus alba) of up to 4% in the diets gave the best broiler performance. Plant origin feeds contain some important nutrients that are not available to poultry due to their inability to analyze them and benefit from them. An experiment was fulfilled to study the performance of broiler chicken using supplemented diets with four levels of phytase enzyme 0.0 FTU/kg feed (T1), 500 FTU/kg feed (T2), 1000 FTU/kg feed (T3) and 1500 FTU/kg feed (T4). A completely randomized design (CRD) using four treatments, with three replicates each with 12 Ross 308 male chicks, was performed. Results indicated significant (P≤0.05) differences in feed intake (FI), body weight (BW) and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The highest feed consumption was recorded with (T1), where (T4) recorded the highest body weight and best FCR followed by (T3, T2 and T1) respectively. There were significant (P≤0.05) differences in carcasses, gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and the associated parts weights, and some GIT organs lengths. However, other parts including heads, necks, shanks and abdominal fat weights were non-significantly (P>0.05) different. There were no significant (P>0.05) differences in individual sensory evaluation attributes (taste, flavor, color and tenderness), but there were significant differences in overall sensory evaluation. There were no significant differences in the mortality rates among treatments. However, there were significant (P≤0.05) differences in the economics appraisal were (T4) recorded the least cost and the highest revenue. It reveals that using the (1500FTU/kg) level of phytase enzyme had performance parameters and economic appraisal. It could be concluded that supplementing broiler chicken diets with (1500FTU/kg) is good for production performance and returns.

One of the comestibles that have high nutritional value and are easy to obtain is chicken. The higher demand for chicken must be accompanied by an increase in production. It is important for the breeder of broiler chicken to choose high quality Day Old Chick (DOC) from the broiler breeder which also has high quality and productivity. The type of broiler breeder that is grown in PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi is Ross 308. Observations were made when the chickens were 18th to 21st weeks old in 6 henneries totaling about 10,000 chickens. The performance of broiler breeder observed were feed consumption, bodyweight gain, feed conversion ratio, and uniformity. Feed consumption of broiler breeder at 18th to 21st week was 659.4 g/chicken, 700,583 g/chicken, 742,116 g/chicken, 767.2 g/chicken. Bodyweight gain at 18th to 21st week was 143.51 g/chicken, 193.3 g/chicken, 63.43 g/chicken, 167.96 g/chicken. Feed conversion ratio at 18th to 21st week was 4.5, 3.6, 11.6, 4.5. The uniformity at 18th to 21st week was 77%, 81%, 81%, 81%. In conclusion, the value of feed consumption for broiler breeder at PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi was increasing every week. Bodyweight gain at 20th week was lower than 18th, 19th, and 21st week. The value of feed conversion ratio at 20th week was higher than at 18th, 19th, and 21st week. Chicken uniformity value at 18th week was not good it was at 77%, while at the 19th, 20th, and 21st week it was quite good at 81%.

THE EFFECT OF PARTLY SUBSTITUTION OF DIET WITH WHITE CHINESE CABBAGE (Brasscia pekinensia L) WASTE PRODUCT ON BIOLOGICAL PERFORMANCE OF BROILER CHICKEN The present study was conducted to characterize the effect of white Chinese cabbage (Brasscia pekinensia L) waste product as an alternative feed source for broiler chicken.  The experiment was conducted at Faculty of Animal Husbandry’s experimetal station for 21 days using 60 MB-202 broiler chicken. The experiment was started at 21 days of age and terminated at 42 days of age. Birds were allocated to 20 experimental battery cage, 3 birds in each cage. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications was employed to analyze experimental data. Treatment diets were formulated as follow: R0 = 100% basal diet and 0% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R1 = 95% basal diet and 5% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R2 = 90% basal diet and 10% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R3 = 85% basal diet and 15% white Chinese cabbage waste product; and R4 = 80% basal diet and 20% white Chinese cabbage waste product. Parameters measured were: 1) daily feed consumption; 2) daily gain; and 3) feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results of the study during which feed consumption (138,09-141,57g), weight gain (64,95-68,53g), and feed conversion (2,07-2,12). The results showed that partly substitution (up to 20%) of basal diet with white Chinese cabbage waste product gave non significant (P > 0.05) effect on feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of broiler chicken. It can be concluded that white Chinese cabbage waste product can be used up to 20% feed gives good results on broiler performance. An experiment was conduted to evaluate the effectiveness level of corn substituted by Morinda citrifolia leaf meal in broiler ration. The use of Morinda citrifolia leaf meal substituted for corn in ration is expected to improve feed conversion in broiler chickens and produce chicken meat that safe for consumption and free of chemical antibiotics residues . Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used to analyze data obtained from this research. One hundred and sixty chicleas (7 days aged) divided into 5 (five) treatments with 4 (four) replications and each replication consisted of 8 (eight) chicleas. Ration of treatments were a negative control diet (R0), 1% Morinda citrifolia leaf meal (R1), 2% Morinda citrifolia leaf meal (R2), 3% Morinda citrifolia leaf meal (R3) and commersial ration (R4). All treatments rations were added a natural feed additive that consist of 0,125% Curcuma and.0,075% Turmeric meal. Measured parameters were feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, mortality, percentages of carcas and abdominal fat. Results showed that feed consumption, weight gain, and feed conversion ratio were significantly (p <0.05) influenced by treatments. Mortality, percentage of carcas and abdominal fat were not significantly (p >0.05) influenced by ration treatments. Mortality rates in chickens using a ration of treatment was 0%, while using the control diet 0,78% (1 bird). The counclusion showed that the substitution of 1-2% Morinda citrifolia leaf meal in ration has better performance compared to the control diet, with improvement of feed conversion ratio was 7.57 and 9.2% respectively was more efficient than the control diets

Effect of noni (Morinda citrifolia) fruit juice in drinking water on male broiler chicken performanceABSTRACT. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of Noni (Morinda citrifolia) fruit juice in drinking water on male broiler chicken performance. The study used 100 male broiler chicken at 3 days of age strain Platinum MB 202 produced by PT. Multi Breeder Adhirama Indonesia (Grup PT Jafpa Comfeed Indonesia) Bandar Lampung. The study was assigned into The Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Chicken were housed in 20 unit colony cages in size 100 x 50 x 50 cm each. The treatments were level of noni fruit juice in drinking water; R0 (control, chicken were not drunk noni fruit juice), R1 (chicken drank water contained 2,5% noni fruit juice), R2 (chicken drank water contained 5% noni fruit juice), R3 (chicken drank water contained 7,5% noni fruit juice) and R4 (chicken drank water contained 10% noni fruit juice). Chicken fed similar ration containing 23.58% crude protein and 3943 kkal/kg gross energy. The selected noni fruit were mature fruit or has color white yellowish. Ration and drinking water were offered ad libitum. During the experiment, chicken were vaccinated only by Vaccine ND on 4 days of age. Chicken were kept for 4 weeks. Parameters measured were feed consumption, drinking water consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. Collected data were analyzed by analysis of variance and significant effect on the parameters were tested by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Result of this study showed that there was not significant (P0,05) effect noni fruit juice in drinking water on feed consumption, drinking water consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. It is concluded that noni fruit juice could be mixed into the drinking water of broiler chicken up to 10%.

Broiler chicken performance feed ration containing pineapple peel meal and supplemented by yoghurtABSTRACT. An experiment was conducted to determine the broiler performance feed ration contained pineapple peel meal supplemented by yoghurt. A hundred broiler chickens 2 days old were used in this study those divided into 4 treatment groups and kept for 4 weeks. The treatments were level of pineapple peel meal (PPM) into the ration; P0 = ration without PPM, P1 = ration contained 5 % of PPM, P2 = ration contained 10 % of PPM and P3 = ration contained 15 % of PPM. To neutralize high crude fiber content in the ration, chickens were supplemented by yoghurt consisted 3,3 x 108 CFU/ml of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus as much as 3 ml/kg body weight. Yoghurt was offered in the morning before feeding. Each treatment was replicated 5 times. The experiment was assigned into Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Parameters were feed consumption, water consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. Data were analyzed by Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and significantly effect was tested by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Results of this study showed that there was no significant difference (P0.05) among 0, 5, and 10 % the treatment groups on feed consumption, water consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. Offered 15 % of pineapple peel to the chickens did not significantly (P0.05) increased feed consumption and conversion ratio but did not significantly (P0.05) decreased body weight gain.  It is concluded that pineapple peel meal might be mixed into the broiler chicken ration up to 10 % without any significant adverse effect  on performance when they were supplemented by yoghurt as much as 3 ml/kg of body weight.

ABSTRACT EFFECT OF SUBSTITUTION OF YELLOW CORN WITH BANANA (Musa paradisiaca) PEELS IN THE DIETS ON BROILER PEERFORMANCE. A study has been conducted to determine the effect of substitution of yellow corn with banana (Musa paradisiaca) peels in the diets on broiler performance. The present study used 60 broiler chicks and reared for 5 weeks. A Completely Randomized Design was used as an experimental design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments were formulated as follow: R0: diet without substitution of banana peels or 0% in the diet; R1: diet with the substitution of 7,5% or 4,28% in the diet; R2: diet with the substitution of 15,0% or 8,55% in the diet; and R3: diet with the substitution of 22,5% or 12,83% in the diet. Variables measured were: daily feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion. Research results showed that daily feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversionratio were all significantly (P < 0,05) affected by treatments. Daily feed consumption at R3 significantly (P < 0,05) lower compared with R0 and R1 treatments, but no differences (P > 0,05) were observed  between R2 and R3. No significant (P > 0,05) was observed between R0 and R1, but there was a significant difference (P < 0,05) between R2 and R3 and between R1 and R2. Feed conversion ratio was significantly (P < 0,05) lower for R0 compared with R1, R2 and R3, but no differences (P > 0,05) were observed among R0, R1, and R2 treatments. It can be concluded that banana (Musaparadisiaca) peels meal can be used up to 15% replacing yellow corn or 8,55% in broiler diet. Abstract This study aimed to determine the effect of red fruit juice (RFJ) in drinking water on feed consumption, body weight gain (BWG), feed conversion ratio and drinking water consumption of starter broiler chickens. A total of 100 broiler chickens (straight run) of 4 days old (Lohmann) were fed using commercial diets and given RFJ drinking water treatments as followed: P0 = drinking water 1000ml+0ml RFJ, P1=drinking water 900ml+100ml RFJ, P2=drinking water 800ml+200ml RFJ, and P3=drinking water 700ml+300ml RFJ.  During the experiment, the RFJ drinking water treatments were given in a sequential pattern of 3 days ON and 4 days OFF. The results showed that the RFJ drinking water treatments had no effect on feed consumption (P³0.05), but had an effect on BWG (P<0.05), feed conversion ratio (P<0.05), and drinking water consumption (P<0.05). The result of RFJ drinking water treatments on BWG, feed conversion ratio and drinking water consumption had the same pattern, namely the best results were obtained at 200 ml RFJ drinking water treatment and the worst at 300 ml RFJ drinking water treatment. In conclusion, the red fruit juice at a dose of 200 ml in 800 l of drinking water improved the performance of starter broiler chickens, whereas the red fruit juice at a dose of 300 ml in 700 ml of drinking water had no effect on feed consumption but had caused a decrease in the starter broiler chicken’s performance.  Keywords: Body weight gain; Feed conversion ratio; Red fruit juice; Starter broiler chickens   Abstrak  Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian jus buah merah (JBM) dalam air minum terhadap konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan (PBB), konversi ransum dan konsumsi air minum ayam broiler fase starter. Penelitian menggunakan 100 ekor ayam broiler (unsexing) strain Lohmann umur 4 hari  (BB awal 72,83 gram/ekor ± 1,03 dan CV 0,01) yang diberi pakan ransum komersial ad libitum dan air minum perlakuan JBM sebagai berikut: P0 = air minum 1000ml+0ml JBM, P1= air minum 900ml+100ml JBM, P2= air minum 800ml+200ml JBM, dan P3= air minum 700ml+300ml JBM. Selama penelitian, air minum perlakuan JBM diberikan mengikuti pola berurutan yaitu 3 hari ON dan 4 hari OFF. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa air minum perlakuan JBM tidak berpengaruh nyata pada konsumsi ransum (P³0,05), tetapi berpengaruh nyata pada PBB (P<0,05)  konversi ransum (P<0,05), dan konsumsi air minum (P<0,05).  Pengaruh perlakuan air minum JBM terhadap PBB, konversi ransum dan konsumsi air minum memperlihatkan hasil dengan pola yang sama yaitu terbaik pada perlakuan air minum JBM 200 ml dan terjelek pada perlakuan air minum JBM 300 ml. Kesimpulan, pemberian jus buah merah pada dosis 200 ml dalam 800 l air minum meningkatkan performa ayam broiler fase starter lebih baik dari perlakuan kontrol, sedangkan pemberian 300 ml jus buah merah dalam 700 ml air tidak berpengaruh pada konsumsi ransum tetapi sudah menyebabkan penurunan performa ayam broiler fase starter lebih rendah dari perlakuan kontrol.   Kata kunci: Ayam broiler fase starter; Jus buah merah; Konversi ransum; Pertambahan bobot badan
