Abstract ELECTRITE No. 1 is a standard 18.4-1 type high-speed steel having high density, extremely good wear resisting properties. It possesses a high red hardness when used for cutting and shearing tools. It corresponds to AISI Type T1 Tool Steel. This same type steel is also supplied containing sulphide additive and is called Electrite No. 1 XL. Abstract ELECTRITE CO-6 is a high-speed steel of the 6 molybdenum-6 tungsten type to which 9% cobalt has been added. This cobalt addition increases the red hardness and permits a retention of greater cutting hardness at elevated temperatures. It is designated as SAE-M36 and AISI Type M36.
