In this study, mycelial filtrate of Aspergillus terreus BA6 was used to reduce AgNO3 to form silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The effect of seven independent variables on the diameter of AgNPs was studied by applying design of experiments (DOE). At optimal conditions, the diameter of AgNPs was reduced by approximately 26.7% compared to the basal culture condition and AgNO3 concentration was found to be the most significant factor affecting the diameter of AgNPs. A. terreus nano-Ag was characterized using UV-visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Zeta potential. The maximum UV absorption was obtained at 420 nm and the microscopic results showed particles with narrow size distribution ranging from 7 to 23 nm. XRD pattern of AgNPs revealed four diffraction peaks of metallic silver and the EDX spectrum showed a strong signal attributed to Ag nano-crystals. AgNPs mycofabricated by A. terreus showed potent minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and broad minimum bactericidal/fungicidal concentration (MBC/MFC) against 12 reference microorganisms. The MIC and MBC/MFC values of AgNPs were 0.312 to 1.25 μg/ml and 0.625 to 10 μg/ml, respectively. Nevertheless, AgNPs did not demonstrate any antagonistic activity against Coxsackie B virus. The in vitro cytotoxicity of the mycosynthesized AgNPs showed significant antitumor activity against adenocarcinoma epithelial cells from human breast cancer (Mcf-7) cell line with an inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 87.5 μg/ml.

Bioreduction of silver ions following one pot process is described to achieveRheum rhabarbarum(RR) based silver nanoparticles (SNPs) which is termed as “RR-SNPs.” The Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV–vis) confirms the characteristic surface plasmon resonance band for RR-SNPs in the range of 420–460 nm. The crystalline nature of SNPs was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) peaks at 38.2°, 45.6°, 64.2°, and 76.8°. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) confirm the shape of synthesized SNPs. They are roughly spherical but uniformly distributed, and size varies from 60 to 80 nm. These biogenic SNPs show persistent zeta potential value of 34.8 mV even after 120 days and exhibit potent antibacterial activity in presence ofEscherichia coli(CCM 4517) andStaphylococcus aureus(CCM 4516). In addition, cytotoxicity of RR-SNPs againstin vitrohuman epithelial carcinoma (HeLa) cell line showed a dose-response activity. The lethal concentration (LC50) value was found to be 28.5 μg/mL for RR-SNPs in the presence of HeLa cells. These findings help us to evaluate their appropriate applications in the field of nanotechnology and nanomedicine.

In this work, silver nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized using simple and environmentally friendly ‘green synthesis’ method using Indonesian wild honey as mediator. Particle count and size can be optimized by varying the silver nitrate precursor and honey concentration, with the help of sodium hydroxide as pH regulator. Based on X-ray diffraction (XRD) result, crystalline structure of Ag has been confirmed in sample with impurities from AgCl. Based on dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results, it was found that the smallest average particles size of AgNPs (117.5 nm from DLS and 11.1 nm from TEM) was obtained at sample with 5% w/v of honey and 0.5 mM of AgNO3.

Abstract In this report, we present a simple and unexplored procedure for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles featuring exudation of Euphorbia acruensis along with the study of its antibacterial and anticoagulant properties. Analytical techniques like ultraviolet visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) were used to analyse the production, crystallinity and morphology of bio-reduced silver nanoparticles. The antibacterial study was performed by following standard disc diffusion method. Most importantly, the anticoagulant and thrombolytic activities of biogenic silver nanoparticles were evaluated by addition of nanoparticles to human blood samples under practical conditions. These green synthesized silver nanoparticles were found to have potent antibacterial, anticoagulant and thrombolytic properties which make them an attractive choice for future medical applications.

Silver nanoparticles were synthesized by the earlier reported methods. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV/Vis), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The synthesized materials were also evaluated for their antibacterial activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial strains. TEM micrograph showed the spherical morphology of AgNPs with size range of 40–60 nm.The synthesized nanoparticles showed a strong antimicrobial activity and their effect depends upon bacterial strain as AgNPs exhibited greater inhibition zone forPseudomonas aeruginosa(19.1 mm) followed byStaphylococcus aureus(14.8 mm) andS. pyogenes(13.6 mm) while the least activity was observed forSalmonella typhi(12.5 mm) at concentration of 5 µg/disc. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of AgNPs againstS. aureuswas 2.5 µg/disc and less than 2.5 µg/disc forP. aeruginosa. These results suggested that AgNPs can be used as an effective antiseptic agent for infectious control in medical field.

The bioceramics, calcium hydroxyapatite (HA), is a material which is biocompatible to the human body and is well suited to be used in hyperthermia applications for the treatment of bone cancer. We synthesis hydroxyapatite in modified synthetic body fluid (SBF) solutions at 37°C and pH of 7.4 using a novel chemical precipitation technique. Then after heat operation, on filtered precipitated result HA were produced. For loading the silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on the hydroxyapatite we use AgNO3 solution. And for reducing Ag+ ions apply sodium borohydrate solution. The formations of the silver nanoparticles on the HAP structure were confirmed by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEM image show the nanostructure of silver particles, being formed on hydroxyapatite texture.

A new method for the simple synthesis of stable heterostructured biopolymer (sodium alginate)-capped silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) based on green chemistry is reported. The as-prepared nanoparticles were characterized using the ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and dynamic light scattering (DLS) techniques. The results showed that the as-prepared Ag-NPs have a heterostructured morphology with particle size in the range 30 ± 18–60 ± 25 nm, showing a zeta potential of −62 mV. The silver nanoparticle formation was confirmed from UV-Vis spectra showing 424 nm as maximum absorption. The particle size and crystallinity of the as-synthesized nanoparticles were analyzed using TEM and XRD measurements, respectively. FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of alginate as capping agent to stabilize the nanoparticles. The Ag-NPs also showed excellent sensing capability, with a linear response to hydrogen peroxide spanning a wide range of concentrations from 10−1 to 10−7 M, which indicates their high potential for water treatment applications, such as pollution detection and nanofiltration composites.
