In this paper, we introduce new divergences called Jensen–Sharma–Mittal and Jeffreys–Sharma–Mittal in relation to convex functions. Some theorems, which give the lower and upper bounds for two new introduced divergences, are provided. The obtained results imply some new inequalities corresponding to known divergences. Some examples, which show that these are the generalizations of Rényi, Tsallis, and Kullback–Leibler types of divergences, are provided in order to show a few applications of new divergences.

Sharp lower and upper bounds of the second- and third-order Hermitian Toeplitz determinants for the class of α-convex functions were found. The symmetry properties of the arithmetic mean underlying the definition of α-convexity and the symmetry properties of Hermitian matrices were used.

The author's population density index ( PDI) model is extended to three-dimensional distributions. A derived formula is presented that allows for the calculation of the lower and upper bounds of density in three-dimensional space for any finite lattice.

In this paper, the notion of energy extended to spherical fuzzy graph. The adjacency matrix of a spherical fuzzy graph is defined and we compute the energy of a spherical fuzzy graph as the sum of absolute values of eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of the spherical fuzzy graph. Also, the lower and upper bounds for the energy of spherical fuzzy graphs are obtained.

The age of information (AoI) has been widely used to quantify the information freshness in real-time status update systems. As the AoI is independent of the inherent property of the source data and the context, we introduce a mutual information-based value of information (VoI) framework for hidden Markov models. In this paper, we investigate the VoI and its relationship to the AoI for a noisy Ornstein–Uhlenbeck (OU) process. We explore the effects of correlation and noise on their relationship, and find logarithmic, exponential and linear dependencies between the two in three different regimes. This gives the formal justification for the selection of non-linear AoI functions previously reported in other works. Moreover, we study the statistical properties of the VoI in the example of a queue model, deriving its distribution functions and moments. The lower and upper bounds of the average VoI are also analysed, which can be used for the design and optimisation of freshness-aware networks. Numerical results are presented and further show that, compared with the traditional linear age and some basic non-linear age functions, the proposed VoI framework is more general and suitable for various contexts.

Abstract In this paper, we present a new definition of interval-valued convex functions depending on the given function which is called “interval-valued approximately h-convex functions”. We establish some inequalities of Hermite–Hadamard type for a newly defined class of functions by using generalized fractional integrals. Our new inequalities are the extensions of previously obtained results like (D.F. Zhao et al. in J. Inequal. Appl. 2018(1):302, 2018 and H. Budak et al. in Proc. Am. Math. Soc., 2019). We also discussed some special cases from our main results.

AbstractIn this research, we introduce the notions of $(p,q)$ ( p , q ) -derivative and integral for interval-valued functions and discuss their fundamental properties. After that, we prove some new inequalities of Hermite–Hadamard type for interval-valued convex functions employing the newly defined integral and derivative. Moreover, we find the estimates for the newly proved inequalities of Hermite–Hadamard type. It is also shown that the results proved in this study are the generalization of some already proved research in the field of Hermite–Hadamard inequalities.
