This study presents an outlook on the renewable energies in Iraq, and the potential for deploying concentrated solar power technologies to support power generation in Iraq. Solar energy has not been sufficiently utilized at present in Iraq. However, this energy source can play an important role in energy production in Iraq, as the global solar radiation ranging from 2000 kWh/m2 to a 2500 kWh/m2 annual daily average. In addition, the study presents the limited current solar energy activities in Iraq. The attempts of the Iraqi government to utilize solar energy are also presented. Two approaches for utilizing concentrated solar power have been proposed, to support existing thermal power generation, with the possibility of being implemented as standalone plants or being integrated with thermal power plants. However, the cost analysis has shown that for 50 kW concentrated solar power in Iraq, the cost is around 0.23 US cent/kWh without integration with energy storage. Additionally, notable obstacles and barriers bounding the utilization of solar energy are also discussed. Finally, this study proposes initiatives that can be adopted by the Iraqi government to support the use of renewable energy resources in general, and solar energy in particular.

A concentrated solar power (CSP) plant with energy storage systems has excellent scheduling flexibility and superiority to traditional thermal power generation systems. In this paper, the operation mechanism and operational constraints of the CSP plant are specified. Furthermore, the uncertainty of the solar energy received by the solar field is considered and a robust economic dispatch model with CSP plants and renewable energy resources is proposed, where uncertainty is adjusted by the automatic generation control (AGC) regulation in the day-ahead ancillary market, so that the system security is guaranteed under any realization of the uncertainty. Finally, the proposed robust economic dispatch has been studied on an improved IEEE 30-bus test system, and the results verify the proposed model.

The rapid advancements in the technology, increase in comfort levels, movement of population to urban areas, depletion of fossil fuels and increasing greenhouse gas emissions have invigorated the use of renewable energy resources for power generation in the last few years. The major renewable energy resources which have potential to fulfill the requirements includes solar energy, wind energy, small hydro and biomass etc. Among these major resources, solar energy-based technology is considered as one of the fastest growing technology because of its various advantages and ubiquitous availability of the resources. However, there are certain challenges in the utilization of solar energy for power generation because of various uncertainties in the atmosphere. As a result, the power generated from solar based power plants is fluctuating in nature which is not desirable. Therefore, the utilities are adopting the smart grid approach which has ability to integrate the solar power plants efficiently and the solar energy forecasting is one of the essential tools for this new model. In this paper, AI based techniques are utilized to forecast solar energy using high quality measured solar irradiance data. The forecasting accuracy of the developed models is evaluated based on statistical indices such as absolute relative error and mean absolute percentage error. The results obtained from the developed models are compared to observe the forecasting ability and performance with the high-quality measured data and found accurate.

Electricity is the engine for the growth of economy of any country. Total installed electricity generation capacity of Pakistan is presently approx 20,000 MW as given in Table-1. Despite this, almost 40% of the population is without electricity. Pakistan has been blessed with tremendous resources for electrical power generation with hydel, coal, renewable energy resources and Nuclear power. Hydel, coal potential of more than 40,000 MW and 10,000 MW are available but only 15% of hydroelectric potential has been harnessed so for where as only 150 MW power plant on indigenous coal has been set up. To exploit Pakistan hydel and coal resources for power generation large investments are needed which Pakistan economy can not afford. Govt. of Pakistan has created an organization of private power and infrastructure board (PPIB) to facilitate private sector in the participation of power generator. PPIB is tapping the resources and facilitating the private sector for establishment of power projects. Pakistan is collaborating with China for establishment of Nuclear Power Plants and plan to generate up to 10,000 MW by year 2025. Renewable energy resources are also required to be tapped. This paper will focus on the Pakistan power generation potential by utilizing local resources keeping in view the next 20 year supply and demand position.

The objective of this project is to get power continuously from the renewable energy resources. Here the renewable energy resources utilized in this project are solar energy and rain water. Now-a-days using solar power for the generation of electricity has become extremely popular. Particularly within the agricultural fields the usage of solar panels for electricity increasing day by day. The flaw during this concept is whenever there's sun, there'll be solar power production Another project is based on the principle of using hybrid mechanism of mixing solar energy technology with piezo electrical power technology during this project, we'll have hybrid panel i.e., one side it'll have solar array and other side it'll have piezo electric plate.. So whenever the day is sunny, solar array are going to be faced up and whenever there's rainfall, the piezo electric plate are going to be faced up. For sensing the sun, we are using an LDR. solar power may be a very useful renewable source of energy, which can be the solution to the longer term for power, or energy needs, as heating seems to select up rapidly by installing Solar AND piezo electric generator for Street lights, it'll help to spice up the economy of INDIA. during this no need of manual operation like ON time and OFF time setting. By using this technique electricity consumption are often reduced which is one among the most advantage also. within the basic circuit of this technique we are using an LDR, solar array, piezo electric transducer, Battery, voltage booster, Transistor, , Resistor and an LED.

With the advent of the new types of electrical systems that attach more importance to the renewability of the energy resource, issues arising out of the randomness and volatility of the renewable energy resource, such as the safety, reliability, and economic operation of the underlying power generation system, are expected to be challenging. Generally speaking, the power generation company can do a reasonable dispatch of each unit according to weather forecast and load demand information. Focusing on concentrating solar power (CSP) plants (wind power, photovoltaic, battery energy storage, and thermal power plants), this paper proposes a day-ahead scheduling model for renewable energy generation systems. The model also considers demand response and related generator set constraints. The problem is described as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem, which can be solved by the CPLEX solver to obtain an optimal solution. At the same time, the paper compares and analyzes the impact of concentrating solar power plants on other renewable energy generation and thermal power operation systems. The results show that the renewable energy generation system can lower power generation costs, reduce load fluctuation, and enhance the energy storage rate.

In recent years, many countries have provided promotion policies related to renewable energy in order to take advantage of the environmental factors of sufficient sunlight. However, the application of solar energy in the power grid also has disadvantages. The most obvious is the variability of power output, which will put pressure on the system. As more grid reserves are needed to compensate for fluctuations in power output, the variable nature of solar power may hinder further deployment. Besides, one of the main issues surrounding solar energy is the variability and unpredictability of sunlight. If it is cloudy or covered by clouds during the day, the photovoltaic cell cannot produce satisfactory electricity. How to collect relevant factors (variables) and data to make predictions so that the solar system can increase the power generation of solar power plants is an important topic that every solar supplier is constantly thinking about. The view is taken, therefore, in this work, we utilized the historical monitoring data collected by the ground-connected solar power plants to predict the power generation, using daily characteristics (24 h) to replace the usual seasonal characteristics (365 days) as the experimental basis. Further, we implemented daily numerical prediction of the whole-point power generation. The preliminary experimental evaluations demonstrate that our developed method is sensible, allowing for exploring the performance of solar power prediction.
