“Tilik” is the title of a short film that tells the social reality of everyday life in Javanese society. This film received a lot of attention and appreciation, and was watched by millions of viewers on YouTube. Throughout the film, the contents of the story are dominated by gossip activities. This research aimed to describe the representation of gossip displayed in the movie “Tilik” and to reveal the function of gossip. Foster’s study suggests four primary gossip functions: information, entertainment, friendship and influence. Descriptive qualitative method were used and the results were analysed using semiotic analysis by Roland Barthes. The results indicate that gossip activities in the film “Tilik” display, among other things, the function of information. This can be seen when the group that wants to meet up in the truck shared a story discussing gossip about Dian’s character. Second, the entertainment function is also seen when talking about gossip: they are listening, enjoying and laughing. Furthermore, the friendship function can be seen in the sharing norms of in-group members. Finally, the role of influence can be seen from the main character, namely Mrs. Tejo, with her body language trying to convince and lead the opinions of group members. Yu Ning’s character became an outsider because she disagreed with the sentiment. The message conveyed in this film is that people must start using technology and keep up with the changes. This film also describes the hoax phenomenon in society, where information that is conveyed is sometimes not true. So public education is needed to confirm the truth of the information circulating on social media. Keywords: film, gossip, representation

ABSTRACTThe importance of fashion campaigns in the process of political communication in Indonesia has gained its own spotlight over the years. Clothing is seen to have an artifactual communication function as a political statement, or at least the image the user wants to display. So the meaning of dressing the contestants was faced with a variety of public interpretations. As Kris Budiman explained clothing has an ambiguous double face. On one side, the face of the dress looks attractive and seductive. Conversely, on the other hand, clothing also have the meaning of falsehood as well as deceive (Budiman, 2004). AHY -SYLVI campaign campaign is modeled, or at least inspired, from military tactical uniforms, AHY institution originated before deciding to participate in Jakarta 2017 Regional Head Election. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono calls his campaign uniform with TactiCool term. A very entertaining and slang term. Blend the actual term Tactical (Tactical) and Cool (Cool). Moreover, then the design of the sergam was made body-fit body fitting alias that makes the clothes look more fashionable. By choosing a black color and sticking emblems here and there make the clothes feel very army-look.  To examine the AHY-SYLVI campaign uniform and the various embedded symbols, the authors use the Roland Barthes Semiotics analysis approach. Barthes's perspective on this myth becomes one of its semiological traits that opens up the new realm of semiology, that is, further excavations of marking to achieve the myths that work in the daily reality of society. This is what the authors of Roland Barthes's semiotics theory say is more appropriate in the choice of AHY-SYLVI fashion or uniform campaign as a particular symbol.

<p><em>Using the qualitative method, the critical paradigm, and also Roland Barthes semiotic analysis, this study aims to find out the symbols contained in Sunsilk Co-creations print advertising, the meaning contained in the symbols and how the symbols subordinate the Eastern people. The results of this study indicate that there are seven symbols in Sunsilk Co-creations version print advertising that has unity meaning, i.e there are dominant people who are showed as more superior thus there are other people who are considered inferior. With the myth that the West is better seen as the superior and the East is seen as the inferior, then the symbols and meanings in Sunsilk Co-creations print advertising represent orientalism. The researchers suggest to pay attention to the symbols that will be aired so as not to be negative because it can affect the reputation of the company/institution concerned. Besides that, it is expected to the Eastern people especially Indonesian to be able to change their thought to be more proud and show their confidence.</em></p>
