The article presents a semantic-motivational analysis of twenty Baltic-Finnic dialect and literary language words used to nominate a hard-working person. The source of the material was the dialect dictionaries of individual Baltic-Finnish languages and their file cabinets. The data of etymological dictionaries are also involved. The undertaken research was carried out in line with ethnolinguistics, which is developing successfully in Slavic linguistics, despite the fact that practically no such studies were conducted on the material of the Baltic-Finnish languages. Involving as a comparison the corresponding results according to the Russian dialects showed that the linguistic image of the hardworking is characterized by certain universals in the motivation for naming. However, the Baltic-Finnish units differ in their specificity. The nominations of hardworking people are secondary in them and go back to the names, on the one hand, of dynamic qualities ‘quick, brisk, energetic’, on the other hand, spiritual characteristics (‘enthusiastic, passionate, greedy’) that turn out to be etymologically closely related. It was revealed that they correlate with the basics marking fast, sharp, intense movement - from walking to a blow or a gust of wind. At the same time, a significant part of the verbs of this series can be confidently qualified as having a descriptive, onomatopoeic nature, which is also inherited by the names of hard workers. The revealed regularity of semantic evolution (‘quick abrupt movement’ → ‘fast, energetic, passionate’ → ‘hardworking’) is important for establishing the etymological sources of words that represent the idea of hard work, as it defines a certain algorithm for such a search. Now the lexemes representing the established semantic paradigm are actually divorced according to different etymological articles and the connection between them is most often not indicated in any way.

Giovanni Boccaccio is quoted several times in Castiglione’s Cortegiano, but all these mentions are inserted in two specific contexts: on the one hand, the debate on literary language, developed in the letter of dedication to don Michel De Silva and in the first book; on the other hand, the definition of the joke in book II. Starting from these premises, this essay analyses the meanings of Boccaccio’s presence in the Cortegiano. It shows that Castiglione’s treatise provides two different and concurrent representations of the author of the Decameron: a positive one, connected to the ‘questione della lingua’, that offers Boccaccio as a promoter of the usage (‘uso’); a critical one, deriving from the theory of the ‘facezia’, that makes Boccaccio a challenging and challenged model.

The article is devoted to the analysis of semantic features that are noted in the verb жить in Russian dialects of Udmurtia. As the analysis of the material of the corpus of Russian dialects of Udmurtia showed, this verb is found in contexts indicating values different from those known in the literary language. In connection with the need to clarify the layout of the corpus and create a dictionary of Russian dialects in Udmurtia, a definition of the semantics of this verb is required. The semantic features of a dialect word can be established both by linguistic factors: the syntactic role and lexical compatibility, as well as extralinguistic factors: the range of specific uses of the verb, historical information about the settlement of this territory, religious and ideological features of dialect speakers. For analysis, material from various lexicographic sources, as well as etymological information, was used. As a result of the study, an idea about the possibility of double interpretation of the semantics of the analyzed dialect word was formed: on the one hand, from the point of view of its implementation in dialect, as a syncretic unit, on the other hand, from the point of view of its lexicographic representation, as a set of lexical-semantic variants.

Yu.F. Samarin was the true founder of the “Russian school” of the 1860s – 1890s and in a way of the whole of Russian political modernism. His intrinsical “German” rational consistency deterred him from opposition, determined his peculiar tactics of political struggle and the no less peculiar style of polemics. One of the most striking examples of the latter is his correspondence with baroness von Raden, illustrating the dialogue between not only supporters of different views on the Russian question, but also of followers of the similar type of religion. While not being a Protestant, Samarin still was bent to exactly Protestantism. At the same time, the Protestant tendencies in Samarin’s religiousness were dictated precisely by his conservatism: “formally correct syllogism” for him always required testing by “real life”, and a significant part of conservative contemporaries turned out to be latent revolutionaries. The main object of his criticism was the birth privileges of the Baltic Germans, who served the emperor, but not the Russian people, and who with the unification of Germany received another center of attraction. Samarin was the person, who more fully than many of his contemporaries studied the question of the connection between the estate and the national principles. His views were most succinctly expressed in his polemics with the conservative-aristocratic “Vest” journal. Yury Fedorovich strongly denied the possibility of building a state on the basis of supranational aristocratic elite. On the other hand, his anti-aristocratic pathos logically led Samarin to a certain tolerance towards the serving bureaucracy. Some of Samarin’s theses in the early 1860s were accepted by M.N. Katkov.

The aim of the present research is to consider one of the aspects of the Jewish text in Latvian literature: the connection of Jewish images with the category of the funny and the comic. A significant part of the Jewish text in Latvian literature is associated with the genre of comedy, within the framework of which a typical image of a Jew begins to form: the first landmark texts (the 17th– 19th centuries) are comedies in which it is the Jew who plays a central role in the system of characters. At the same time, the genre of comedy brings to the fore two functions of the category of the comic: laughter is associated with the situation of the character (funny, sometimes miserable) or it is caused by a comic situation in which other characters are involved. On the one hand, the Jew is the object of laughter (comical depiction of the manner of speech, appearance, behavior); on the other hand, in some texts it is the Jew who maintains the intrigue. The article examines the historical logic of the development of the Jewish text: a Jew as an object of ridicule – a Jew as a component of a comic plot – a Jew as a carrier of vice. Since the 1940s, the Jewish text actually loses its connection with the category of the comic, which is associated with the intensification of the flow of anti-Semitic literature in the interwar and war periods and the dominance of the theme of the Holocaust in the literature of the second half of the 20th century.

The paper presents the analysis of the constructions with absolute (independent) isolated phrases extracted from the poetic texts of Russian poets of the Baroque, Classicism, Sentimentalism, and Romanticism. The use of an independent dangling participle was supported by the old Slavic tradition of the independent dative case and, already in the old Russian era, an independent dangling participle was often replaced by the construction with a frozen active participial inseparable nominative (adverbial participle), leading to more active absolute functioning of independent dangling participles. On the one hand, the history of independent isolations in Russian poetic speech from Kantemir to Lermontov demonstrates the scope of the language experiment on the “introduction” of syntactic Gallicisms of various types into the Russian speech – participial, adjective, substantive (in the form of applications and segments), pronominal ones. On the other hand, it shows a narrow timeframe of this entry of “agrammatic” (i.e., breaking the linear chain of traditional subordinating synthetic connections) elements into the language, as well as strong resistance to using non-Russian constructions. Experiments with absolute isolation are vivid evidence of the increasing tendency towards analytism in the evolution of the Russian literary language of the New Time and, at the same time, strong and victorious resistance to these tendencies on the part of a grammatical system protecting its traditional synthetic bases from the alien influence.

Abstract. Two experiments examined the influence of stories on recipients’ self-perceptions. Extending prior theory and research, our focus was on assimilation effects (i.e., changes in self-perception in line with a protagonist’s traits) as well as on contrast effects (i.e., changes in self-perception in contrast to a protagonist’s traits). In Experiment 1 ( N = 113), implicit and explicit conscientiousness were assessed after participants read a story about either a diligent or a negligent student. Moderation analyses showed that highly transported participants and participants with lower counterarguing scores assimilate the depicted traits of a story protagonist, as indicated by explicit, self-reported conscientiousness ratings. Participants, who were more critical toward a story (i.e., higher counterarguing) and with a lower degree of transportation, showed contrast effects. In Experiment 2 ( N = 103), we manipulated transportation and counterarguing, but we could not identify an effect on participants’ self-ascribed level of conscientiousness. A mini meta-analysis across both experiments revealed significant positive overall associations between transportation and counterarguing on the one hand and story-consistent self-reported conscientiousness on the other hand.

SummaryThe prognosis of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) has improved considerably by introduction of aggressive consolidation chemotherapy and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT). Nevertheless, only 20-30% of patients with AML achieve long-term diseasefree survival after SCT. The most common cause of treatment failure is relapse. Additionally, mortality rates are significantly increased by therapy-related causes such as toxicity of chemotherapy and complications of SCT. Including radioimmunotherapies in the treatment of AML and myelodyplastic syndrome (MDS) allows for the achievement of a pronounced antileukaemic effect for the reduction of relapse rates on the one hand. On the other hand, no increase of acute toxicity and later complications should be induced. These effects are important for the primary reduction of tumour cells as well as for the myeloablative conditioning before SCT.This paper provides a systematic and critical review of the currently used radionuclides and immunoconjugates for the treatment of AML and MDS and summarizes the literature on primary tumour cell reductive radioimmunotherapies on the one hand and conditioning radioimmunotherapies before SCT on the other hand.

Two aspects of Schumpeter' legacy are analyzed in the article. On the one hand, he can be viewed as the custodian of the neoclassical harvest supplementing to its stock of inherited knowledge. On the other hand, the innovative character of his works is emphasized that allows to consider him a proponent of hetherodoxy. It is stressed that Schumpeter's revolutionary challenge can lead to radical changes in modern economics.

Abstract Pesantren are often associated with backwardness and traditionalism in everything: facilities, technology, learning methods, and even the curriculum. For now, it seems like the traditional term for pesantren is no longer relevant enough. The pace of movement in the era of renewal marked by the rapid development of technology has demanded pesantren to make adjustments. However, on the one hand, when viewed from the direction of change, the reform efforts pursued by pesantren are not to erase the old tradition, but merely to add something new so that the old tradition and conditions can be maintained while accepting the presence of a new one. On the other hand, the reform efforts undertaken by pesantren have implications for the fact that the typical values of the pesantren are fading away.
