Relevance of the study. The problem of thematic misbalance in news is indisputable nowadays. Newsmakers are obliged to meet not only standard news criteria, but also a media audience expectations regarding the structuring of its interests. The main objectives of the study were to detect the coherence in agendas of the leading Ukrainian TV channels as well as to trace their conformity with the public agenda. Methodology. Content-analysis method was used to identify those topics in news stories (N=1186) that got the most attention on the studied channels. Calculating the coherence and rank correlation coefficients made it possible to trace the commonality in thematic priorities among channels themselves and between channels and their audience. Data triangulation method made it possible to select the points of public agenda from the survey by the “Democratic Initiatives” Foundation. Results. The studied channels tend to reflect Ukrainian and world events in identical thematic proportions: coherence coefficient of devotion attention to the topics was fixed at a high level: W = 0.87 (p≤0.005). There is a tendency for emphasizing particular range of issues (bureaucrats, corruption, crime, material support) and missing from attention of some others (decentralization, environmental issues). Only a half of the topics (49%) was identified as important to the public’s view, other issues didn’t correspond to public agenda, therefore, the manifestation of the agenda-setting effect was fixed at a weak level (r = 0.2 at p> 0.1). The probable cause of the low correlation between media and public agendas may be the deterioration of living standards in Ukraine due to current state of war conflict. Conclusions. In terms of thematic priorities, leading television channels can be characterized by a high degree of consistency, while the television agenda is only half-compliant with public agenda, so that its conformity with the public agenda was fixed at a weak level.

This paper aims to investigate the trend of human resource disclosure (HRD) quality based on publicly disclosed annual reports of 235 Malaysian listed companies. The data was collected through content analysis method using HRD index. The results reveal that there is an increasing trend of HRD quality from 2010 to 2014.  However the significant increase is only between 2012 and 2013. This study provides empirical support for Institutional theory’s coercive isomorphism, through its findings on quality of HRD. This is because, the related disclosure regulations and the Malaysian government policy through Malaysia Plan may have significantly influenced firms to increase HRD quality in their annual reports.

The aim of this paper is to closely examine the ways in which the outdoor mural as a form of art. has been used for commemorative purposes in the context of the Polish capital. Drawing on content analysis this paper will argue that regardless of their democratic potential and potential to act subversively in the public domain, the commemorative murals in the case of Warsaw are predominantly reflecting the official narrations/representations of the past and thus reproducing the state-supported, nation-centered, male-dominated perspective of history. Referring to Wulf Kansteiner methodological instructions, the paper introduces the notion of “secondary” memory makers in order to describe the position the mural makers are occupying in the field of Warsaw’s cultural memory. It will also be argued that mural makers, by adapting their works to the demands of the cultural institutions responsible for the memory production and dominant discourses of memory from mainly pragmatic reasons, are forgoing a fair portion of the democratic and subversive potential of the murals. As such, the paintings on the walls are, intentionally or not, further involved in more complex state-sponsored strategies of nationalizing the public space.

This paper examined the problems bedeviling the operations of the Nigerian ports before the concession programme of 2006 and how well the concession has improved the performance of the Ports system. Data were collected through secondary methods such as annual reports, as well as interview and media reports.  The content analysis method was adopted in analyzing the data. The findings of the study showed that the concession may for all its worth have been able to earn more income for the government but the Authority has failed to keep its part of the contract agreement especially as it concerns the provision of the enabling environment for port operations; infrastructures were still lacking, dwell time has not substantially reduced and corruption still soared high. The paper submits that the regulators of the maritime system need to do more to ensure that it is not paying lip service to its vision of being the leading port in Africa.

Nowadays, people can easily access everything with one-click away. For example, when you want to read an article in foreign language which you are not familiar with, then you just need to open Google Translate and within seconds, you will get the translation of it. To deal with that reality, a translator has to differentiate himself from machine translation which is increasingly used by the public. Therefore, the translator is required to produce an equivalent and natural translation in the Target Language. This research aims to provide understanding of translation equivalence on video transcripts conducted by students in Movie Translation (Subtitling) course. This study uses qualitative approach, content analysis method, and purposive sampling to collect data. In short, there are two types of translation equivalence used by students, formal and dynamic. Formal equivalence focuses on the similarity of the form and meaning of the message from Source Language to Target Language, while dynamic one focuses on the naturalness of expression in the Target Language.

Ayat Hukm or Quranic Legal Verses which is contained therein fiqh rulings are an important source in issuing fatwas and resolve any problems that arise in past and the present. To achieve 'dalil' of Ayat Hukm that correct and appropriate, the Quran verses must be interpreted correctly thorough interpretation based on the books of Tafsir Ayat Al-Ahkam. Other sources that can be found in making a submission  as a reference source of minorities is well-known as Qawa'id Fiqhiyyah. Both of these sources can be arguments in the submissions of the fatwa issued by States Mufti Department in Malaysia. But when the fatwas decision was issued are generally too short and is not included with the arguments that led to that decision make it referred only by public but not for the researchers and students. Hence this study will find a 'using of dalil' and methods of fiqh which is appropriate for decisions related to DNA fatwa released by the State Mufti Department of Penang. Libraries and content analysis method used in this study to identify and describe the argument that according to the results matched with the fatwa. However, the author also conducted a kind of unstructured interviews with Mufti of Penang State Government to seek clarification on the issue. That arguments given hope will facilitate the public reference levels even strengthen the fatwa that had been decided. Keywords: Quran Legal Verses, Methods of Fiqh, Fatwa, DNA.

Abstract. This study aims to test the hypothesis that, as a public broadcasting institution that serves the public interest, non-commercial, and the majority of audiences are Muslim, the principle of qaulan sadidan has been widely adopted in TVRI news. Islam has provided a grand-theory for the study of communication and journalistic, namely qaulan sadidan. This principle was later recognized in the Western academic world as factuality, which is part of the news objectivity. By using the content analysis method on 146 news items from September 23, 2018 to March 29, 2019, this study found that the principle of qaulan sadidan has dominated the TVRI news although there are still news that do not yet contain elements of factuality. Many TVRI news articles are written containing 5W and 1H. This study also used interviews with senior journalist to confirm the data from the content analysis. The interviews found that management had not periodically socialized the relevance of Islamic values to journalistic practices, the element of the "when" was often not delivered in the news because of the editorial oversupply of news, not because of the lack of understanding on journalistic theory. This study offers some propositions that TVRI news includes factual and non-factual news, although it is dominated by factual news, experience as a journalist helps the adoption of qaulan sadidan values, and the completeness of the news is also determined by the news availability. This research is expected to contribute to the development of communication studies in an Islamic perspective.
