L2 language learning is an activity that is becoming increasingly ubiquitous and learner-centric in order to support lifelong learning. Applications for learning are constrained by multiple technical and educational requirements and should support multiple platforms and multiple approaches to learning. This chapter investigates the possibility of applying ontology-based, dynamically generated learning objects implemented on a cloud computing infrastructure in order to satisfy these requirements. Previous work on using mobile learning objects is used as a starting point in an attempt to design a system that will preserve all of the advantages of utilizing learning objects, while eliminating any flaws and maximizing compatibility with existing systems. A model of a highly modular, flexible, multiplatform language learning system is presented along with some implementation remarks and advices for future implementation.

Cloud based mobile learning (m-learning) is emerging as one of the most important branches of cloud computing, and is still in its infancy. These days, there are two emerging archetypes in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for learning. The first one is the anytime, anywhere, on-the-move, to be called the mobility archetype, and the second one is the cloud computing. Both archetypes are radically transforming the way we learn, communicate, access, and utilize information resources, and connect with peers and colleagues, thus affecting all aspects of education. This chapter delivers an introduction of the evolution of cloud based m-learning, benefits and characteristics of cloud based m-learning. It also canvasses the current scenario of m-learning utilizing the cloud, various challenges for implementing the m-learning system on the cloud. It further confers technologies used for cloud based m-learning. It also considers a brief look at methods for creating m-learning content and experiences, suggested by various researchers and concluded with the future aspects of the cloud based m-learning.

Mobile-based learning provides new experience to the learners to learn anything from anywhere and anytime by using their portable or mobile device. Vast educational contents and also different media formats can be supported by the mobile devices. Access speed of those materials has also improved a lot. With this advancement, providing required content or materials in the desired format to the learner is essential to the learning management system. Also, it is very important to guide the learner based on their interest in learning. With this outset, the proposed mobile learning system helps the learners to access different courses under different levels and different specializations. The course contents are in different formats called learning objects (LO). In order to provide personalized learning experience to the learner, the system finds the learner's preferences and selects the desired learning objects. It also recommends some specializations with level to the learners to achieve higher grades.
