Unstable productivity analysis method was used to obtain the equivalent radius of 77 wells and the result shows that the equivalent radius ranges from 30 to 970m with an average value of 230m in McKittrick Hills. The difference range of the radius is mainly caused by varying formation properties, gas saturation, production time, etc. Permeability anisotropy changes the drainage from round to ellipse. The major axis and the minor axis of the ellipse are determined by the ratio of major and minor permeability. Current pressure distribution was obtained and was found to be consistent with the modified drainage results, which demonstrates that the unstable productivity analysis method is applicable in the study of gas well drainage radius. An interference well and an observation well’s model was constructed to study well interference quantitatively. When the well spacing is larger than 750m, the productivity will be reduced by 20%. The production rate of interference well is more sensitive to the cumulative production of observation well, when the production rate of interference well is below 16.8×104m3/d.

Abstract: This research is a comparative literary study that uses Malay and Javanese versions of Mahabarata text sources. The research objects used were the text edition of Pandhawa Gubah (PG) by Sudibjo Z. Hadisutjipto and the text of Cheritera Pandawa Lima (CPL) by Khalid Hussain. The research method used is descriptive-analysis method. In the comparative study used a comparative literary theory proposed by Endraswara (2011). The results of the text comparison reveal the similarities and differences in the image of Bima figures in the Javanese and Malay versions. The equation as a whole is that both texts contain the same heroic storyline and heroic character, Bima. In addition, Indian influence is still evident in the two texts seen from the nuances of Hinduism that exist in both texts. While the difference is seen in the events that accompany Bima's struggle in achieving his victory. Based on these similarities and differences, it can be seen that the authors attempt to represent the concept of metaphysical interactions vertically and horizontally expressed through PG text.

Abstract Unconventional resource plays, herein referred to as source rock plays, have been able to significantly increase the supply of hydrocarbons to the world. However, majority of the companies developing these resource plays have struggled to generate consistent positive cash flows, even during periods of stable commodity prices and after successfully reducing the development costs. The fundamental reasons for poor financial performance can be attributed to various reasons, such as; rush to lease acreage and drill wells to hold acreage, delayed mapping of sweet spots, slow acknowledgement of high geological variability, spending significant capital in trial and errors to narrow down optimal combinations of well spacing and stimulation designs. The objective of this paper is to present a systematic integrated multidisciplinary analysis of several unconventional plays worldwide which, if used consistently, can lead to significantly improved economics. We present an analysis of several unconventional plays in the US and Argentina with fluid systems ranging from dry gas to black oil. We utilize the publicly available datasets of well stimulation and production data along with laboratory measured core data to evaluate the sweet spots, the measure of well productivity, and the variability in well productivity. We investigate the design parameters which show the strongest correlation to well productivity. This step allows us to normalize the well productivity in such a way that the underlying well productivity variability due to geology is extracted. We can thus identify the number of wells which should be drilled to establish geology driven productivity variability. Finally, we investigate the impact of well spacing on well productivity. The data indicates that, for any well, first year cumulative production is a robust measure of ultimate well productivity. The injected slurry volume shows the best correlation to the well productivity and "completion normalized" well productivity can be defined as first year cumulative production per barrel of injected slurry volume. However, if well spacing is smaller than the created hydraulic fracture network, the potential gain of well productivity is negated leading to poor economics. Normalized well productivity is log-normally distributed in any play due to log-normal distribution of permeability and the sweet spots will generally be defined by most permeable portions of the play. Normalized well productivity is shown to be independent of areal scale of any play. We show that in every play analyzed, typically 20-50 wells (with successful stimulation and production) are sufficient to extract the log-normal productivity distribution depending on play size and target intervals. We demonstrate that once the log-normal behavior is anticipated, creation of production profiles with p10-p50-p90 values is quite straightforward. The way the data analysis is presented can be easily replicated and utilized by any operator worldwide which can be useful in evaluation of unconventional resource play opportunities.

It is shown that the replacement of a part of sulfur atoms with selenium atoms in a TlInS2 single crystal stimulates the formation of a single-phase state with a monoclinic structure (space group [Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text] in TlInS[Formula: see text]Se[Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]). Irradiation with 2 MeV electrons and a fluence of [Formula: see text] electron/cm2 of powder TlInS[Formula: see text]Se[Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) leads to an increase in the crystallite size from 56.5 nm to 65 nm, which is most likely associated with a decrease in the interface. The difference between the surface morphology of the synthesized TlInS[Formula: see text]Se[Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) single crystal and the surface morphology of the TlInS2 single crystal is established, which consists in a decrease in the height and width of the roughness in TlInS[Formula: see text]Se[Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]). Irradiation of a TlInS[Formula: see text]Se[Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) single crystal with electrons with a fluence of [Formula: see text] electron/cm2 does not lead to a change in the height of the tubercle on its surface, and the average value of its width increases more than ten-fold. The identity of the peaks in the Raman spectra of the TlInS[Formula: see text]Se[Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) single crystal before and after its irradiation with electrons with an energy of 2 MeV and upto a fluence of [Formula: see text] electron/cm2, along with the absence of a shift of the peaks, indicates the radiation resistance of the TlInS[Formula: see text]Se[Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text]) single crystal.

Summary The discrete fracture network (DFN) model is widely used to simulate and represent the complex fractures occurring over multiple length scales. However, computational constraints often necessitate that these DFN models be upscaled into a dual-porositydual-permeability (DPDK) model and discretized over a corner-point grid system, which is still commonly implemented in many commercial simulation packages. Many analytical upscaling techniques are applicable, provided that the fracture density is high, but this condition generally does not hold in most unconventional reservoir settings. A particular undesirable outcome is that connectivity between neighboring fracture cells could be erroneously removed if the fracture plane connecting the two cells is not aligned along the meshing direction. In this work, we propose a novel scheme to detect such misalignments and to adjust the DPDK fracture parameters locally, such that the proper fracture connectivity can be restored. A search subroutine is implemented to identify any diagonally adjacent cells of which the connectivity has been erroneously removed during the upscaling step. A correction scheme is implemented to facilitate a local adjustment to the shape factors in the vicinity of these two cells while ensuring the local fracture intensity remains unaffected. The results are assessed in terms of the stimulated reservoir volume calculations, and the sensitivity to fracture intensity is analyzed. The method is tested on a set of tight oil models constructed based on the Bakken Formation. Simulation results of the corrected, upscaled models are closer to those of DFN simulations. There is a noticeable improvement in the production after restoring the connectivity between those previously disconnected cells. The difference is most significant in cases with medium DFN density, where more fracture cells become disconnected after upscaling (this is also when most analytical upscaling techniques are no longer valid); in some 2D cases, up to a 22% difference in cumulative production is recorded. Ignoring the impacts of mesh discretization could result in an unintended reduction in the simulated fracture connectivity and a considerable underestimation of the cumulative production.

Stem eccentricity in second-growth western hemlock (Tsugaheterophylla (Raf.) Sarg.) from southern coastal British Columbia appears to be the rule rather than the exception. Although the difference was small, the average eccentricity ratios (ratios of minimum diameter inside bark (DIB) to maximum DIB) for two Lower Mainland sites were significantly larger than those of two Vancouver Island sites. The average eccentricity ratio of all 87 trees studied was 0.929, with a standard deviation of 0.0231. The angular rotation of the major axis of the stem cross section varied greatly, and was positively related to the average stem eccentricity ratio within 5-m log lengths for each stem. Average eccentricity of the whole stem was relatively independent of diameter at breast height (DBH), age, stem height, and eccentricity at breast height. It does not appear that a practical field technique could be devised for the rapid estimation of average stem eccentricity in western hemlock.
