The horizontal stiffness of steel frame is relatively weak. So designers introduce brace system into steel frame to increase the horizontal stiffness. In order to guarantee the safety of the structure, we should imitate the performance of the structure under seismic loads. In this paper, the pseudo-dynamic test was conducted on the semi-rigid connection of steel frame and the semi-rigid connection of steel-braced frame. The test results show that the brace can increase the ductility of the structure, decrease the displacement of the top floor, decrease the interlayer displacement, and bear ground floor shearing-force. So the brace greatly impacts the performance of the structure. It has the ability of anti-earthquake and strong resistance ability of lateral force.

Based on the investigation of end plate and angle of semi-rigid connection in the steel frame of beam-column, an analysis of two connection type damage phenomenons, stiffness, bearing capacity and ductility, and then with the experimental results concluded above, the similarity and differences between the two semi-rigid connections can be extensively discussed. And with that, it can naturally be concluded that the end-plate connection is a good load capacity and ductility properties of semi-rigid connection type. These for, the conclusion can provide test basis for the ideal steel structure semi-rig seismic node design and application.

This paper presents the performance of base-isolated steel structures under the seismic load. The main goals of this study are to evaluate the effectiveness of base isolation systems for steel structures against earthquake loads; to verify the modal analysis of steel frame compared with the hand calculation results; and development of a simulating method for base-isolated structure’s responses. Two models were considered in this study, one a steel structure with base-isolated and the other without base-isolated system. The nonlinear time-history analysis of both structures under El Centro 1940 seismic ground motion was used based on finite element method through SAP2000. The mentioned frames were analyzed by Eigenvalue method for linear analysis and Ritz-vector method for nonlinear analysis. Simulation results were presented as time-acceleration graphs for each story, period and frequency of both structures for the first three modes.

To study the effect of damping on seismic performance of steel frame, using the pseudo dynamic test by inputting damping and no damping to analyze the seismic performance of semi-rigid steel frame. Analysis was focused on the effect of damping on the panel zone strain, story drift and interlayer force. The conclusion was that under the more severe earthquake, the structural damping had effects on the seismic performance of semi-rigid steel frame.

In order to study the static performance of a new type e vertical prestressed steel structure called mega steel frame-cable bracing structure, structure deformation, internal force of beam and column and the remaining pretension of cable under pretension, vertical load and horizontal load alone as well as pretension with vertical load, wind load combination condition were analyzed in this paper. Research shows that prestressed cable can effectively improve mechanical and deformation performance of mega beam under vertical load, improve the system stiffness and make the overall stiffness more uniform.
