A series of novel stable polyurethane emulsion with high-solid-content and low-viscosity were prepared by self-emulsification. They were prepared by the reaction of poly (tetrahydrofuran-co-oxidation of propylene) glycol (Ng210), isophorone isocyanate (IPDI) with 1,2-dihydroxy-3-propanesulfonic acid salt (DHPA) as hydrophilic chain-extending agents. Influence of the content of DHPA on properties of polyurethane emulsion and film were analyzed .The results show that obtained emulsion were multivariate distribution in particle size and were spherical particles by measurement of grain size and electron microscopic photo. It is noticed that with increasing content of DHPA and, average particles diameter of polyurethane emulsion became smaller, poly-dispersion became narrower and solid-content became bigger. when the content of DHPA is 7%, solide-concent of emulsion reaches 61%. In addition, Polyurethane emulsion are endowed stability of emulsion are good at high temperature and low temperature as well as storage stability.

The emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) with butyl acrylate (BA) using aqueous polyurethane dispersion as seed was undertaken to prepare acrylic-polyurethane (PUA) hybrid emulsions with high solid content. The concentrations of the anionic groups were varied by adding different amount of dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA). The emulsions with a similar bimodal particle size distribution (PSD) were obtained. The viscosity of the emulsions is about 350 mPa.s while the solid content is about 55%.

A series of novel stable and high-solid-content polyurethane were prepared by self-emulsification,use PES and PPG as mixed soft segments.Influence of APAETMS content and mole ratio of PES/PPG on properties of polyurethane dispersions and films were analyzed .Results show that: the cross-linked complex were multivariate distribution in particle size. With an increase of the mass ratio of PES and PPG and content of APAETMS average particles diameter of polyurethane dispersions became bigger , poly-dispersion became wider., solid content of dispersions decrease.. It is also noticed that the high-solid-content dispersions exhibit a pseudo-plastic behavior, when the mass ratio of PES and PPG is 1:3 and content of APAETMS is 1%, the solid content of dispersions is up to 55%. The film also has a good shape memory behavior.

M-AlN (surface modified aluminum nitride powder) suspensions for aqueous gelcasting were prepared Using NH4PAA as dispersant. The effects of pH value, NH4PAA amount and solid content on the rheological behavior of M-AlN suspensions were investigated. The results showed that low viscosity M-AlN aqueous suspensions with high solid content up to 55vol.% were obtained under the condition that the amount of NH4PAA was 0.9 wt. % of M-AlN powder, and pH value was about at 6.8. In spite of this, these suspensions still show a viscosity lower than 0.12 Pa•s at 100s-1, suggesting a good fluidity which can satisfy the requirement of gelcasting.

A series of high solid content carboxylic acid/sulfonic acid waterborne polyurethanes was prepared by the emulsion dispersion method. The particle size and solid content were measured. By changing the particle size of the large particles to achieve different particle size ratios, high solid content waterborne polyurethanes were obtained at specific particle size ratios. When the particle size ratio was >7, 4–5 or 2–3, the aqueous polyurethane could reach a higher solid content (more than 56%). This indicated that solid content is related to particle size distribution in high solid content waterborne polyurethane. Moreover, the corresponding three-dimensional stacked models (simple cubic accumulation, face-centered cubic accumulation, cubic close packing and hexagonal closest packing) were established.
