In this paper, the ultrasonic extraction method of Oligomeric Proantho Cyanidin with chestnut shells as raw materials is studied. Using single factor method we study the effects of different extraction time, extraction reagent, extracting agent concentration and ultrasonic power on the extraction rate of Oligomeric Proantho Cyanidin. After analyzing these various factors, we make the orthogonal experiment with the factors including extraction time, extraction agent concentration, extraction temperature, solid-liquid ration, and get the optimal conditions. The experimental results show that the optimum extraction conditions are as follow: time of 30 min, extracting agent of 40% (v %) ethanol aqueous solution, extraction temperature of 40 °C, solid-liquid ratio of 1: 25 g/mL and ultrasonic power of 100 w; under these conditions the extraction rate of Oligomeric Proantho Cyanidin is 3.418%.

To optimize the extraction process of total flavonoids from RADIX RHIZOMA GLYCYRRHIZAE and Study on the Antioxidant Activity. Total flavonoids were extracted from RADIX RHIZOMA GLYCYRRHIZAE with ethanol by ultrasonic-assisted method, whose extraction process was optimized by orthogonal test design. The scavenging effect of pumpkin polysaccharide on OH and O2-were studied by salicylic acid and pyrogallic acid method. The optimum extraction process was as follows: ethanol concentration of 75%, solid-liquid ratio of 1:25,ultrasonic power of 350 W and ultrasonic duration of 25 min.Under the above conditions, the extraction rate of total flavonoids reached as high as 1.943%. The influencing order of each factor on extraction rate of polysaccharides was determined to be: ethanol concentration>solid-liquid ratio>ultrasonic power>ultrasonic duration. When the solution concentration is 1.1296mg/ml, the scavenging rate of crude flavonoids on superoxide radical is 50%.Suggesting that it would be an effctive natural free radical scavenger. The study could provide a scientific basis for the further exploitation and utilization of RADIX RHIZOMA GLYCYRRHIZAE

Taxus mairei is an important source for industrial extraction of taxol in China. However, the standard and steps of extraction are currently not uniform, which seriously affects the taxol yield. In the present study, the influence of four factors (methanol concentration, solid-liquid ratio, ultrasonic extraction temperature, and ultrasonic extraction time) on the taxol yield was successively explored in T. mairei. A response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the extraction process based on the single-factor experiments above. The optimal conditions were as follows: methanol concentration was 90%, solid-liquid ratio was 1:15 (g/mL), ultrasonic extraction temperature was 40 °C and ultrasonic extraction time was 60 min. Moreover, the twigs and needles from T. mairei with different tree ages were treated by the optimum extraction process, which further revealed temporal and spatial distribution of taxol in the reproducible tissues. Interestingly, the taxol content was relatively higher in needles of T. ‘Jinxishan’ (a cultivar from T. mairei with yellow aril, FY), but was less in FY twigs. The accumulation of taxol in twigs and leaves of females (with red aril, FR) was significantly higher than that of males (M); however, the content showed a decreasing trend with the increasing tree ages. Therefore, it is suitable to increase the proportion of female trees especially the FY leaves as raw materials for the industrial production of taxol from T. mairei, and the tree ages should be better controlled at 3–7 years.

Turmeric has a bioactive compound namely curcuminoid. It has many pharmacology effects such as anticancer, antidiabetic, antioxidant, hypolipidemic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifertility, anti-venom, anti-coagulant, anti-HIV hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, and anticoagulant properties. To increase the economic value of turmeric, it is necessary to develop a hydrothermal extraction process of turmeric’s active compound. The advantages of hydrothermal extraction were inexpensive, abundant availability, high purity, non-toxic, and easy to handle. This research aims to study the effect of operating conditions : temperature (130-150oC), time (10-40 minutes) and solid:liquid ratio (1:10 and 1:12) on the bioactive compounds of turmeric extracted from hydrothermal extraction process. Generally, high extraction yield was obtained at higher extraction temperature (140 and 150oC). Under these conditions, with a lower solid : liquid ratio (1:10), high concentration of curcumin is produced. Further, a higher solid : liquid ratio will likely produce the opposite result, except when it operates at low extraction temperature. The high temperature of the pressurized liquid water can reduce the viscosity and surface tension of water so it will increase the diffusion rates and absorption. The higher the solid:liquid ratio, the greater the different concentration between interior and exterior cell, which promote the high efficiency of diffusion process.

Using ultrasonic-extraction technology, the condition of extracting the active compounds-flavonoids and rosmarinic acid ofPerillawas studied. The effects of four main factors include ultrasonic power, temperature, time and solid-liquid ratio on the extraction-rate of the flavonoids and the rosmarinic acid ofPerillawere reviewed by single factor experiments, and the flavonoids and the rosmarinic acid was determined by NaNO2-Al (NO3)3-NaOH method and FeSO4method. On the base of single factor experiments, the extraction technique was optimized in the orthogonal test. The result showed that temperature was the most important factor in the influencing factors on the extraction-rate. The subsequence of importance was temperature > time > solid-liquid ratio > ultrasonic. The optimal extraction conditions were: extraction solvent 3%borax, solid-liquid ratio 1:50(w/v), ultrasonic power 300W, time 90min , temperature 75°C. Under the optimum technological conditions, 34.64mg/g of flavonoids and rosmarinic acid fromPerillacould be obtained.
