Dielectric constant (ε′) and Dielectric loss (ε″) of the binary mixtures of the pyridine and 1-propanol have been measured at microwave frequencies of X-band and J-band at 303,313 and 323K temperatures. Static dielectric permittivity (ε0) of the liquid samples has been determined using precision LCR meter. Dielectric permittivity at optical frequency (ε∞) has also been measured. Determined values of Static dielectric permittivity (ε0) and complex permittivity (ε*) at 9.1 GHz frequency were used to evaluate relaxation time (τ). Determined parameters have been interpreted in terms of molecular interaction among the molecular species of the binary mixtures.

Ba 4 LaTi 0.3 Sn 0.7 O 15 ceramic was prepared through conventional solid state mix oxide route followed by characterization using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) for phase and microstructural investigation. The dielectric properties at low and microwave frequencies were measured using LCR meter and vector network analyzer. XRD results revealed single phase ceramics and the microstructure was comprised of compact grains with size ranging from 4–12 μm. The lattice parameters refined by the least squares method were a = b = 5.7680(2) Å, c = 11.7491(6) Å, V = 337.81 Å3 and Z = 1. Optimum properties i.e., εr~44.6, Qufo~15, 500 GHz and τf~2.05 ppm /° C were achieved for Ba 4 LaTi 0.3 Sn 0.7 Nb 3 O 15 ceramic sintered at 1475°C for 4 h.

The binary mixtures of nematogenic compounds 4-n-pentyl phenyl 4-n′-hexyloxy benzoate (ME6O.5) and 4-cyanophenyl 4-heptyl benzoate (CPHB) show the presence of induced smectic phase. In the present paper we report the phase diagram of the binary system (ME6O.5+CPHB) obtained by polarizing optical microscopy as well as the results of X-ray diffraction and static dielectric permittivity measurements on the system throughout the entire composition range. The observed variation of dielectric anisotropy with molar concentration in the induced smectic phase region is explained by assuming molecular associations in the mixture which is supported by our measurements of layer spacing in the induced smectic phase by X-ray diffraction studies.

The static dielectric constant (ε0) and optical dielectric constant (ε = n2) of binary mixtures of 1-Propanol (1-PrOH) with N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) of different concentrations, prepared by volume fractions (0.0, 0.1, . 1.0) are measured at 2 MHz using precision LCR meter and Abbes refractometer respectively at different temperatures. The excess dielectric constant (ε0)E, Kirkwood correlation parameters (geff, gF), Bruggeman parameter (fB) are evaluated. The variations of these parameters with concentration and temperature are discussed in terms of molecular interaction between the molecular species of constituting components in these mixtures.
