Frequency of Confirmed Corona Infection (COVID-19) in Children in Affected Families of Gujrat

Aim: To detect the frequency of confirmed corona infection (covid-19) in children in affected families in Gujrat. Study design; cross sectional study. Place and duration of study: This study was conducted from January 2020 to 10 June 2020 at Gujrat Pakistan. Methods: Total 214 children were included in the study from 141 families in which at least one family member was confirmed positive for corona virus infection (COVID-19). This study was started in the beginning of year 2020 but in Gujrat first positive case was reported in March 2020. First of all a family was decided where a confirmed positive case was there. This particular family was included and decided for testing if there was abroad travelling history within 14 days or there was a contact with a confirmed positive patient for corona infection (COVID-19). Results: Total 214 children were included from January 2020 to June 2020. Out of total 214 children, 78 children were positive for (COVID-19) corona infection. Out of 78 (COVID-19) corona infection positive children, 46(58.97%) were female children whereas 32(41.02%) were male children. 37 children (47.44%) were from 1 to 6 years of age whereas 41 (52.56%) were 7-15 years of age. Conclusions: Children can acquire corona virus infection (COVID-19) from adults. Though the severity of corona virus infection (COVID-19) is mild in children, in spite of all this the children should not come in contact with positive person for corona virus infection (COVID-19). Abstract Background Physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic are working under relentless stress. This study aimed to identify the impact of the perceived fears of COVID-19 virus infection on the quality of life and the emergence of burnout syndrome among physicians in Egypt during the COVID-19 outbreak. This cross-sectional study was conducted between May 10th and June 9th, 2020, and included 320 Egyptian physicians who were working during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were interviewed using the Fear of COVID-19 scale (FCV-19S), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Maslach Burnout Inventory, and World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale (WHOQOL-BREF) for assessment of the perceived fears of COVID-19 virus infection, associated anxiety and depressive symptoms, burnout symptoms, and quality of life, respectively. Results Overall, most physicians were females (63%). Ideas about death, moderate-to-severe anxiety, and depressive symptoms were reported by 11, 28, and 29% of physicians, respectively. For burnout symptoms, high emotional exhaustion, high depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment were reported by 20, 71, and 39% of physicians, respectively. The perceived fear of COVID-19 virus infection was positively correlated with anxiety, depression, and burnout emotional exhaustion, and depersonalization symptoms, and negatively correlated with personal accomplishment and all quality of life domains. Conclusions Egyptian physicians experienced higher levels of COVID-19-related fears, anxiety, and depressive and burnout symptoms. There was a robust correlation between these perceived fears, and higher burnout symptoms, and poor quality of life among physicians. Specific interventions should be tailored to minimize the physical and mental burdens on the physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Dermatoglyphics is considered, in the scientific milieu, to be an epigenetic marker. The objective of this study was to analyze the presence of dermatoglyphic marks characteristic of neuromotor capacity and abdominal resistance in children and adolescents. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 1,002 individuals, female children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 16, from public and private schools in the city of Joaçaba, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The protocol selected for analyzing the fingerprints was dermatoglyphics, proposed by Cummins and Midlo using a Dermatoglyphic Reader. The Brazilian Sports Project Manual - PROESP 2015 was used to collect data on muscle strength motor tests. Results: The results showed the presence of a dermatoglyphic mark characteristic of abdominal motor capacity and muscle strength in females. A higher frequency of arches was identified in MET4 and whorls in MET5 and MDT4 in the Risk Zone group. In the Healthy Zone group, ulnar loop was found to be more frequent in MET4, MET5, and MDT4 fingers. Conclusions: The results demonstrated a predictive marker for abdominal motor capacity and strength in females through dermatoglyphics.

Background: Nutritional anemia is still the primary cause of anemia despite of various nutritional programmes in developing countries. Aims and Objective: The present study was planned to asses Iron, Folate, and Vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia in developing countries. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at a tertiary care centre in Agra in collaboration with Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, New Delhi. Admitted children of age 6 months to 14 years having signs and symptoms of anaemia were included in the study. Sample size calculated was 157. All the cases were subjected to CBC, GBP, serum iron, ferritin, folate and vitamin B12 level estimation. Results: Out of 672 children, 157 children with clinical feature of anaemia were enrolled in the study. Among these 157 children, 52.87% were male. Percent proportion of anaemia was highest among toddlers (27.39%) and lowest in adolescent (10.83%). The maximum cases were of urban area (65.6%) and middle socioeconomic status (47.13%). Most of the children were undernourished/underweight (60.4%). Mean iron level was significantly low in female children, children of rural areas, low socioeconomic status and malnutrition/underweight. Mixed iron, folate and B12 deficiency was found in 48.41%, 30.57% and 22.93% cases respectively. In 24.20% cases no deficiencies were found and were classified as anaemia due to some unspecified causes. Conclusion: Nutritional deficiency anaemia is contributing to a large proportion of anaemic patients. More intensified programmes are needed especially for female children, children of rural areas, low socioeconomic status and malnutrition/underweight.
